Today’s Bible Verse:
"If you are determined to go to Egypt and you do go to settle there, then the sword you fear will overtake you there, and the famine you dread will follow you into Egypt, and there you will die." — Jeremiah 42:15–16
In Jeremiah 42, God warns His people not to run to Egypt for safety. Their fear drove them toward what looked like security, but the very dangers they tried to escape would meet them there. This passage reminds us that when we place our trust in human solutions instead of God’s direction, we risk walking right into the trouble we’re trying to avoid.

Have you ever felt the weight of insecurity—wondering if you’re enough, measuring yourself against others, or carrying the burden of impossible expectations? I know I have.
That’s why I was so grateful to sit down with Sharon Hodde Miller for this week’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast. Sharon is the author of Free of Me and her newest devotional, Gazing at God. Both books offer a refreshing, hope-filled message: true freedom doesn’t come from fixing ourselves but from fixing our eyes on Him.
Sharon invites us to embark on a grace-filled journey toward freedom from self-centeredness. In her 40-day devotional, she gently guides readers to:
As Sharon writes, “We are never more fragile than when we make ourselves the center of our story.” The good news is that our story doesn’t begin or end with us—it begins and ends with God.
If you’ve been weighed down by insecurity or caught in the cycle of striving and self-doubt, I encourage you to listen to this week’s conversation. Sharon’s wisdom will help you exchange the exhausting work of self-focus for the joy of gazing at God.
I pray this episode helps you lift your eyes, find rest, and walk in the freedom that comes from knowing your Creator deeply loves you.
Cheering you on,
Rachael

Many of us, at times, feel unknown, unloved, and unseen. Perhaps you were raised by emotionally disengaged parents, experienced a significant painful rejection in your adult years, or are battling self-condemnation related to past regrets and mistakes. Regardless of why we, at times, struggle to see ourselves beloved and worthy of love, we all need to know and experience the incomprehensible, unconditional, and never-ending love of God. In this episode, we're sharing a powerful biblical reflection from another LifeAudio host, Bonnie Gray, host of the Breathe: Stress Less podcast. Enjoy, and may this episode be one you can return to again and again, whenever you need the reminder that you are indeed seen, known and deeply loved.

A Liturgy for a Heart of Hospitality
How can we better welcome others into our lives and homes as Christ has welcomed us?
Today's prayer by Abby Kuykendall is an invitation. Through prayer, scripture, and confession, we can be reminded that hospitality is not about perfection but about creating space for God’s love to be experienced by those around us. As we open our hearts and tables, we become reflections of the generous, welcoming God who first made room for us.
Reference: Hebrews 13: 1-2
Prayer: Father, you are the epitome of hospitality. A God unlike any other. Your open arms and welcoming table invite all to come to you. You have made a home for us in your kingdom and provided everything we need. Help me to be disciplined in serving others and showing hospitality to all. I desire to reflect you. Open my heart to the needs of others and empower me to offer hospitality without hesitation. May my home be a place of comfort and solace so that no matter what circumstances people find themselves in, my table would welcome them just like the example you gave by welcoming us to your table.

The Lord Is My Light
By: Vivian Bricker
“Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light” (Micah 7:8).
As someone who struggles with depression, I often find myself in the darkness. This might surprise some, but I tend to be more comfortable in the darkness. Rainy days and nights bring me comfort, while the brilliance of the sun brings my heart grief. Sad music brings my heart comfort rather than upbeat, happy tunes.
Even though some of us may be comfortable in the darkness, it does not mean it is the healthiest place to be, either physically or spiritually. Always being in physical darkness can worsen our feelings of depression as well as our deep sorrow. In the same way, being in spiritual or emotional darkness can cause us to suffer in our walk with the Lord.
As we turn more to the Lord, we will see His light shine into our lives. He calls us out of the darkness and into His Kingdom. Even though it might be scary at times to go into the light, we can trust the Lord. The darkness is not our forever home, as it only gives us a false sense of security. By turning to the Lord, we will have His protection, grace, and peace.
Intersecting Faith & Life:<
Some days weigh heavy, even without a clear reason. A rainy morning, a long to-do list, or unexpected interruptions can dim our spirits. As our daily prayer and devotional remind us, the psalmist’s words in Psalm 42:5 show that these feelings are not new—God’s people have always wrestled with discouragement. Yet the invitation is the same: place your hope in God and choose to praise Him.
Even when joy feels far away, praise becomes a doorway to hope. Praising God for His faithfulness, His sovereignty, and His nearness redirects our hearts from gloom to light. Whether our struggles are monumental or seemingly minor, we can experience His joy when we lift our eyes to Him.
Today's Bible Reading:
"Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." – Psalm 42:5
Key Takeaways
Discouragement doesn’t always have a clear cause—but God is our steady hope in every circumstance.
Psalm 42:5 calls us to actively place our hope in God and praise Him even when we don’t feel like it.
Praise shifts our perspective, reminding us that God holds every detail of our days.
Joy is not dependent on ideal circumstances but on God’s unchanging character.
Let’s Pray Together
Father God, You are my hope and joy. On the days when my spirit feels heavy and my contentment slips away, remind me to place my hope in You. Help me to praise You in every circumstance—whether the valley is deep or the clouds are temporary. Thank You for being my Savior, my constant, and my sovereign God. Today and every day, I choose to praise You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Calls to Action
Begin your morning by naming three things you can praise God for today.
When discouragement rises, read Psalm 42 aloud as a prayer.
Share this devotion with a friend who may be walking through a difficult or weary season.
