In this episode of the Unhurried Living Podcast, we explore the difference between work that flows from grace and love, and work that drains us because it’s fueled by fear, insecurity, or people-pleasing. Together we’ll talk about holy rhythms of work and rest, and what it looks like to return to the “easy yoke” of Jesus.
If you’ve been feeling weary, overextended, or caught in workaholism, this conversation offers hope: you can lead from rest rather than rush.
What You’ll Take Away from This Episode:
How to discern between grace-energized work and soul-draining drivenness.
Why busyness, according to Eugene Peterson, is not productivity but a form of laziness.
The danger of “false vines” that drain life rather than nourish it.
Small, sustainable practices for weaving sabbath and reflection into daily rhythms.
How contemplative practices root us in God’s presence so our work becomes overflow, not overextension.

What do you do with the parts of yourself you’d rather hide?
This Christian meditation podcast offers space for Bible meditation, scripture reflection, and guided prayer shaped by the 12 steps. Step Four says: “We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our lives.”
That can sound intimidating. But this meditation isn’t about doing a deep dive into every detail of your past or present. Instead, it’s an invitation to rest in the truth that God already knows everything about you — and He still loves you.
Hebrews 4 reminds us: “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.” But it also shows us the good news: Jesus is our great high priest. He knows what it is to be human. He empathizes with our weakness. And because of Him, we can “approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
In today’s meditation, you’ll pause with Hebrews 4:13–16 and be reminded that there is nothing in you that surprises God — and nothing He cannot redeem. You’ll be invited to come honestly and boldly into His presence, and to receive the mercy and grace He longs to give.
Take a deep breath, settle in, and let’s meditate on these truths together.

Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 4:13–16 (NIV)
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Discovering God’s Mysterious Ways this Fall
By Lynette Kittle
“This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed”-- 1 Corinthians 4:1
What’s so beautiful about fall? The answer is, “Almost everything!”
Beautiful fall colors lead the way with their bright and varied intensity. The changing hues are bright and magnificent, glorious and breath-taking, until they fade away to become the brown, and brittle. Once the splendor of vibrant colors diminishes, it causes us to look forward to what lies ahead.
Fall Reveals Some of God’s Mysterious Ways
Fall paints a picture that reveals some of the mysterious ways God works in nature and in our lives. The following are four ways.
His death brought great sorrow and loss to His followers who, during His death process on the cross, didn’t fully understand what would happen next, even though He told them.
In Revelation 1:18, Jesus explains, “I am the Living On

The opening chapters of the book of Revelation contain seven letters dictated by the risen Christ to seven churches in Asia Minor. These were real churches, with real people and real struggles, yet the Spirit intended their messages to echo across the centuries into the life of the global church. In each letter, Christ examines the heart of His people, commends what is commendable, warns what is dangerous, and promises eternal reward to those who endure in faith.
Revelation 2:1–11 addresses two congregations, Ephesus and Smyrna. Both faced spiritual pressures, yet their challenges differed. The Ephesian church was orthodox and disciplined but spiritually drifting. The Smyrna church was persecuted and poor but spiritually rich. Taken together, these letters remind us of the deep concern Christ has for both the truth we proclaim and the love we cultivate.

The shift from summer to fall is bittersweet. Today's prayer and devotional remind us that as we say goodbye to long, sun-drenched days, we also receive the crisp winds, colorful leaves, and rich harvests that usher in a new season of God’s design.
Scripture reminds us that the seasons are not random but intentional. God set them in motion for His purposes, each one accomplishing His will (Ecclesiastes 3:1, Psalm 104:19). Even when change feels unsettling, we can take comfort in knowing that God holds every season—and our hands as we walk through them (Isaiah 41:13).
Fall reminds us that beauty often emerges in the midst of transition. Just as the leaves burst into brilliance before fading, we are reminded that God can bring purpose and radiance out of life’s changes.
Your Daily Bible Reading:
"As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." – Genesis 8:22
Key Takeaways
God created the seasons to fulfill His purposes and remind us of His order and care.
Fall’s beauty points us to the eternal light of Christ, our true source of life.
Change can feel unsettling, but God lovingly holds our hand and steadies us.
Every season carries lessons, blessings, and reminders of His faithfulness.
Let’s Pray Together
Dear Father, thank You for the beauty of fall and the reminder that You are in control of every season. Help me savor the changes with gratitude, holding fast to Your hand through every transition. May I see this season through Your eyes and trust Your will is being accomplished. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
