(John 16:33 NLT) I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
(Deuteronomy 1:2-3a ERV) The trip from Mount Horeb through the mountains of Seir to Kadesh Barnea takes only eleven days. But it was 40 years from the time the Israelites left Egypt until the time they came to this place.
1.“Why Does This Happen ALL THE TIME?” – Going Around The Same Mountain
[Problem]
(Deuteronomy 1:6-8 NLT) “When we were at Mount Sinai, the Lord our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. (7) It is time to break camp and move on. Go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the neighboring regions—the Jordan Valley, the hill country, the western foothills, the Negev, and the coastal plain. Go to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, and all the way to the great Euphrates River. (8) Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.’”
[Solution]
(Colossians 3:2 NLT) Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
[Solution]
(Luke 4:18-19 NLT) “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, (19) and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”
2.“I’M DONE!” – All About Complaining & Never Actually Move On
[Problem]
(Numbers 14:2-3 NLT) Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained. (3) “Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?”
[Problem]
(Numbers 21:5 ERV) They began complaining against God and Moses. The people said, “Why did you bring us out of Egypt? We will die here in the desert! There is no bread and no water! And we hate this terrible food!”
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT) Always be joyful. (17) Never stop praying. (18) Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:6 NLT) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
3.“It’s Too Hard For Me” – Giving Up
(Numbers 13:30-32 NLT) But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” (31) But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” (32) So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge.
(Deuteronomy 30:11 NLT) “This command I am giving you today is not too difficult for you, and it is not beyond your reach.
(John 14:16 NLT) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
–One Last Time-
(John 16:33 NLT) I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
