Jesus, Cosmic King and Suffering Servant, destroyed sin and death through his sin-bearing death outside the gate. Let us, therefore, go to our King.

When we behold and fear God, we will not fear man or fear losing things.

Jesus' grueling night of illegal trials is consummated at the Praetorium in a trial before the Roman Procurator. Jesus is found innocent, and condemned to death. Jesus rules a kingdom unlike any earthly kingdom.

Jesus demonstrates his courage under trial, whereas Peter demonstrates his cowardice. Nevertheless, God is with them both, and in the end, all will be well. God is with us in our trials. He is helping us to endure.

Jesus is determined to protect, and die for, his sheept. In this final hour with his disciples, he loves them to the end. This great love for his people has not changed.

Jesus desires our unity. Unity in the Father through the Son, and unity in his body (the church). We belong to each other in Christ.

Jesus prays his desires for the disciples. He is leaving them in Person, not in Spirit. They will need the Father's watch care in order for their ministries and lives to be productive.

Jesus accomplished the work the Father gave him to do. He saved the very people the Father gave him to save. They are Christ's because they are the Father's, who gave them to the Son.

Jesus grants eternal life to all whom the Father has given to him. This is for his glory, and the glory of the Father. Salvation was purchased at the cross.

Christ has died, Christ is risen; Christ will come again. We rejoice in this truth, this reality. Let us live in the light of His life.
