It’s October, the month that makes us all tremble with fear, uncertainty, and dread. But enough about the election...
It’s the best time of year: Horror movie season! To celebrate, Lifewine has prepared an entire month of spoooooktacular selections leading up to Halloween. To kick it off, we’re reviewing KILLER UNDER THE BED (2018), starring Brec Bassinger, Kristy Swanson, and Madison Lawlor. This movie has everything: voodoo, revenge, possession, and even handsome history teachers with luscious hips. Rachel also provides some uplifting news about Brixton’s health, and Zach shares his thoughts on a specific male sexual enhancement aid. Voo-DON’T want to miss this one!
This movie is available to view on the Lifetime Movie Club app.

This week, we have a good old-fashioned whodunnit. Was it the husband? Was it the victim? Or was it just an accident? DEATH IN SMALL DOSES (1995), starring Richard Thomas, Tess Harper, and Glynnis O’Connor, tells the tale of a Dallas architect (O’Connor) who mysteriously dies of arsenic poisoning. The victim’s family is quick to blame her estranged husband (Thomas), but he declares his innocence and claims that it must have been self-administered. Assistant DA Jerri Simms (Harper) must find the truth, as elusive as it may be.
This episode opens up with a Brixton update, but rest assured that we have received some more positive news about his health since this recording! We also explore the history of the blue M&M, discuss the most painful ways to die, and reproach one of our favorite listeners for her questionable fetishes. Don’t forget, doctors recommend at least one Lifewine episode a week!
This movie is available to view on Tubi, Pluto TV, Sling TV, and the Lifetime Movie Club App.

We all need to get away sometimes (especially these days, amirite?), but what if your dream vacation turns into a nightmare? We encounter that very scenario in FATAL GETAWAY (2019), starring Christie Burson, Karlee Eldridge, and Tilky Jones. Fresh out of a traumatic relationship, Eliza (Burson) and her closest friends book a relaxing retreat to unwind and reconnect with each other. Their home rental host James (Jones) is shirtless and wealthy (therefore charming and harmless), but Eliza can’t shake the feeling that something is amiss. Maybe it has something to do with the multiple unsolved disappearances that have occurred in the neighborhood?
We also examine the “Is Larry King still alive?” debate (no one really knows for sure), Rachel comes up with a brilliant new door-to-door solicitation scheme, and Zach not only conceives the most terrifying imaginary body part possible, he names it “Margaret”. This is one episode you won’t be able to escape!
This movie is available to view on Amazon Prime and the Lifetime Movie Club app.

Every once in a while, a Lifetime movie comes along that is bursting with talent, humor, and the bold fashion choices of the late 80’s. When that happens, you grab that movie; you cuddle it, feed it, and love it, because you never know when it’ll happen again. HOW TO MURDER A MILLIONAIRE (1990), starring Joan Rivers, Alex Rocco, Morgan Fairchild, and David Ogden Stiers, is that movie. Get ready for enough madcap mishaps and witty one-liners to fill your heart with song, even in today’s desolate climate. Joan Rivers shines as Irma Summers, a wealthy socialite who believes that her husband of thirty years, Walter (Rocco), is trying to murder her. Her suspicion sends her on a humbling voyage of escape, disguise, and ultimately, self-discovery.
We also reminisce about the good ol’ days when it was so much easier to commit crimes, discuss why the glory hole has gone the way of the phone booth, and learn why Rachel is no longer allowed in Bono’s powder room. Also, Zach gives us a brief update on the Red Alert RESTART movement; for more information on this call to assist the events industry during this pandemic, please listen to our Angels’ Share minisode from September 1st or visit www.wemakeevents.org.
This movie is available to view on Amazon Prime, Tubi, Pluto TV, and the Lifetime Movie Network app.

To round out our “Back to School” triad, we bring you THE UNAUTHORIZED SAVED BY THE BELL STORY (2014). TUSBTBS tells the tale of six unknown actors who quickly rose to fame right before America’s eyes. You may know them as Zach Morris, Screech Powers, Kelly Kapowski, Jessie Spano, Lisa Turtle, and A.C. Slater, but who are the people behind the immensely popular early-90’s Saturday morning teenage sitcom? Not only is this movie UNAUTHORIZED, it’s also based on Dustin Diamond’s memoirs, so you KNOW it’s going to be filthy, shocking, and 100% accurate (DISCLAIMER: It is none of those things).
We also talk about which public figure has the best scent, the child star phenomenon, and Rachel officially declares war on Dustin Neil “Screech Powers” Diamond. This episode is not only unauthorized, it’s tumescent!
This movie is available to view on the Lifetime Movie Network app and Amazon Prime.

In the second episode of our “Back to School” series, we review HIGH SCHOOL EXORCISM (2014), starring Jennifer Stone, Janel Parrish, Shanley Caswell, and Ione Skye. High school student Chloe (Stone) has hit a rough patch and is acting out as a result. Is her disorderly behavior a result of trauma combined with undiagnosed mental illness? Or is something more malevolent to blame? Chloe’s best friend, the normally rational Lauren (Parrish), believes the latter and seeks out the assistance of holy roller Olivia (Caswell) to cast out Chloe’s demons once and for all. What could go wrong?
We also discuss officially making Lifewine a religion, kink shame Stephanie for her controversial fetish, and learn about one of the ways a Chupacabra can be used as a surgical tool. This episode may possess you, but your soul is safe with us!
This movie is available to view on Tubi.

Hey listeners!
We have a slightly different clip for you today.
As you may know, both Zach and Stephanie’s day jobs are in the events industry. What you may NOT know is that Zach is the regional director for the #WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRESTART movement in Austin. This is a small clip from an upcoming episode where Zach discusses the importance of this campaign.
It is estimated that 96%, or as many as 12 million people in the Live Events Industry are currently unemployed, furloughed, or have lost up to 90% of their income. Once a robust $35 billion industry, the Live Events business was the first to close and will be the last to re-open, sustaining increased financial losses in the tens of billions of dollars. The Red Alert Restart movement is a call to legislation to allow Federal funding to help our industry workers who are suffering during this pandemic, as well as a call to the general public to help do what is needed in order to allow us to get back to work.
On September 1st, over 1,500 venues all across the North America will be lit red to show support of our industry and the workers within it. Show your solidarity by posting with the hashtag #RedAlertRESTART to raise awareness on the importance of the #RestartAct to the people in the live events sector. Economic relief and unemployment assistance are needed for our industry, which has been shuttered since March. Our sector needs help so we can survive this crisis and work together once again to bring you the events you love when it is safe to do so.

The phrase “back to school” may carry a very different connotation this year, but ultimately the goals remain the same: intellectual enrichment, personal growth, and of course, eliminating anyone who threatens your perfect GPA.
Join the Lifewine crew as we discuss THE STUDENT (2017), starring Alicia Leigh Willis, Blake Michael, and Lindsay Hartley. When former-attorney-turned-ethics-law-professor Abigail Grandacre (Willis) refuses to bend the rules for a particularly determined student, Vance Van Sickle (Michael), Vance then decides to take a more sinister approach to his academic ambitions. Abigail learns that she may need to reconsider her honor to save her own life…but it may be too late.
We also explore what our calling cards would be if we were serial killers, reminisce about our favorite Nick at Nite programs, and officially cancel Pepé Le Pew. Be sure to take some notes, because this WILL be on the final exam!
This movie is available to view on Netflix.

In HAPPY FACE KILLER (2014), starring David Arquette, Gloria Reuben, and Stefanie von Pfetten, Lifetime Movie Network tells us the true(ish) story of real life serial killer Keith Jesperson, AKA “The Happy Face Killer”. After failing his lifelong dream of becoming a Mountie, then failing at marriage, Jesperson (Arquette) discovers the one thing he IS good at: murdering sex workers without getting caught. That is, until a determined FBI agent (Reuben) makes it her personal mission to track down the assassin with the cryptic calling card of a happy face scrawled in blood.
We also learn about Zach’s deadly and secretive side hustle, as well as discuss who in LA is the latest to follow the trend of starting a cult. This episode is sure to make you smile, so don’t miss it!

Chances are, you’ve had to find a way to earn some extra money at some point in your life. Most of us are not above a little hard work and elbow grease to help us meet a fiscal goal, but at what point does financial necessity supersede personal integrity? In BABYSITTER’S BLACK BOOK (2015), starring Spencer Locke, Angeline Appel, and Ryan McPartlin, we meet a group of high school girls who turn their babysitting business into an underground prostitution ring to help pay for college. At first, it’s all fun and cash and rap videos…but when the cold reality of felonious underage sex work sinks in, our heroines start to think that maybe they should have first considered financial aid.
We also discuss the REAL perpetrators on whom this “inspired by true events” tale was based (Spoiler alert: they were NOT white upper-middle class college hopefuls with privilege on their side), as well as what the effect of legalization and regulation of vice may have on society. Also, we hate to break it to you, but Rachel isn’t going to cry when you die. This episode is one for the books!
This movie is available to watch on the Lifetime Movie Club app and Amazon Prime.
