  • The problem of politeness for empaths (INFP/INFJ)

Being an empath is a gift, but sometimes being too polite can make it genuinely harder to set the boundaries we need. This journal entry explores why empaths, like INFPs and INFJs, may find it challenging to set boundaries.

Dear soul, do you struggle with feeling deeply sensitive, seeing every perspective, and giving everyone an "out" before protecting yourself?

I share a recent situation with noise disrupting our living, working, and sleeping. It’s challenging my British INFJ husband and I to figure out how to set up boundaries with our landlord.

I explore the cultural differences in politeness and directness, and discuss how being "too polite" can sometimes lead to overextending ourselves or being taken advantage of.

Discover the gentle yet powerful first step to setting an effective boundary. If you’re also navigating setting up boundaries, I hope this journal entry helps you to feel not so alone!

✨ I would love to hear from you! Have you ever felt that being polite or empathetic made it harder to set a boundary? Share your thoughts below!

  • Calm yourself, calm the world (HSP/INFP)

If you’re feeling the collective stress and emotional reactivity of the world right now, know this: you are not alone, dear soul, and you have the power to create inner calm.

I've been feeling a lot of tense energy lately. I was reminded today that not all the overwhelm we feel is ours. The intense energy of those around us affects sensitive souls (empath and HSP).

In this journal entry, I share why it's so important to recognize that we're all connected and how our energetic stability impacts the world. We need to be aware of our own emotions and energy to catch reactivity before it bubbles over into unintended words or actions.

Take a time out to find that peace and calm space within you. It's the only true way to help the world, because by finding that healing and centeredness in ourselves, we help balance the collective emotional tension around us.

✨ I would love to hear how you are finding that calm space within yourself right now.

  • Physically overstimulated? Do this first. (HSP/INFP)

Are you a highly sensitive person (HSP) or INFP feeling the intensity of too much input? This journal entry reveals the simple first step to stop the overstimulation and find calm.

Dear sensitive soul, overstimulation is that feeling when layer upon layer of different stressors pile up. From relentless noise and frantic energy, to major life concerns like moving and a looming to-do list.

When our physical bodies are tense, and our mind is racing, it's easy to get caught in the cycle of overwhelm and forget that our physical well-being comes first. Our tendency can be to push through, but we can't be productive when our nervous systems are all over the place.

So the solution starts with calming down our physical bodies by focusing on our breathing, drinking a glass of water, taking a nap or even going pee!

Then from this grounded state we can recenter ourselves and take the rest of the day one moment at a time.

✨ In the comments below, please share one simple thing you do first when you realize you are starting to feel overstimulated.

  • The real reason you hide your true self

Dear precious soul, the real reason you hide your true self and don’t show up authentically in the world is simpler and bigger than you think: it all comes down to one ultimate fear.

Have you ever wondered why you struggle to show up as your unique "soul self" in relationships? We often trace our hiding back to past judgment or social media pressures, creating a 'persona' or mask.

But what if all those surface reasons are hiding a deeper reason? In this journal entry, I share my current thesis: our constant need for conditional love and security (in relationships, money, status) is a fear of death in disguise.

We’re afraid that showing our true self will jeopardize our safety net. This is the real reason we hide. When we find the courage to reveal ourselves, we realize the only thing we have to lose is conditional relationships, which are probably not worth hiding our eternal souls.

Next ▶️  This next journal entry will help you separate your true self from the fear-based voices that keep you small: "The Voice in Your Head is NOT Yours" (https://youtu.be/X4J9L3HhQmY).

✨ The masks we wear to fit in can feel safer than our true self. I'd love to know, when was the last time you decided to be brave and show a part of your soul that you usually keep hidden? Let me know in the comments below!

  • The Voice in Your Head is NOT Yours

When the negative voice in our head sounds exactly like us, it is easy to believe the lies, but this journal entry reveals the truth: the inner critic is not our soul speaking, it's a saboteur.

Dear soul, are you tired of internal sabotage and destructive self-doubt holding you back? Then the first step to overcoming negative self-talk is to recognize that the inner critic is a separate force.

I share three practical steps to help us externalize negative thoughts and stop listening to the liar within.

    1. Give the negative voice a name (the Liar, the Whisperer, the Saboteur, etc.)
    2. Write down the negative thoughts to make them tangible
    3. Lastly, refute the lies using objective facts and past successes

The secret to a more positive mind is consistency. Let's practice this daily to recenter ourselves and to learn to listen to our true soul voice.

✨ What name are you choosing to give this negative voice? Share in the comments!

  • Why a non-Christian read the whole Bible

As a non-Christian, I challenged myself to read the entire Bible from cover to cover, and what I found confirmed a powerful truth about human nature.

This journal entry reveals why I undertook the daunting challenge of reading the foundational text of a complicated and nuanced religion. It was a quest to connect with history and my English, Scottish, and Irish ancestors, whose lives were deeply rooted in Christianity.

I share how this off-screen challenge helped me reclaim my focus and perseverance.

Most profoundly, exploring this ancient text forced me to think deeply about the big questions in life. Who am I? What is reality? Why is there evil and suffering in the world?

I realized that as humans, we are not as evolved as we think; this deep, historical truth ultimately levels the playing field for us all.

Dear soul, if you are seeking an empathetic and authentic reflection on why you might want to challenge yourself to read the Bible, I hope my journey offers you some useful insights.

    🌿 About Kate Harmony 🌿

My main channel (Hack Music Theory) has over 250K subscribers and 10 million views. I've been a full-time YouTuber since 2017 and launched this personal channel (Lightbearer's Library) in 2025, where I'm making video versions of my journal entries.

Some of my favourite topics to talk about are practical philosophy, positive psychology, and personality type (I'm an INFP). But honestly, my journals contain counter-cultural thoughts about everything, so expect the unexpected! I also share practical ways I'm improving my mental health, with the hope that you might find them useful too.

I deleted all my social media accounts over 10 years ago, so I offer a loving perspective that's free from the divisive language commonly found in feeds nowadays.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, then I warmly welcome you into the Lightbearer's Library. Stay for a while, and please remember to subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV2wps4NID9rrO08OuwZ5Lg?sub_confirmation=1
