“I’ll never get over this.”

“I should never have said that. I can never say the right thing.” 

“What’s wrong with me?”

Have you ever had thoughts like that? Have you ever felt that there is something inherently wrong with you, and although you’ve tried to change, you just can’t do it?

In today’s episode, Marquelle leads coaches Karen, Kellie, and Roslyn in a discussion about 'Transforming Shame.'

Shame is one of the adversary’s most commonly-used tools - and one of his most powerful ones. Who hasn’t felt shame about something they’ve done, or said, or thought? And who hasn’t felt unworthy because of it?

In contrast, Marquelle brings out the fact that mistakes and mis-steps are part of our mortal journey, and that God knew we would be weak. Because of that, He provided a plan to help us along this journey, and He provided a Savior to cover those weaknesses as we turn to Him. Learn some of the tools that we teach in the Eternal Warriors course that can help you recognize when you are being shamed, and will help you know exactly what to do to transform it. 

Listen in and see how these coaches, in their own personal lives, have been able to transform shame and see each mistake as a learning experience. How successful could we be if we knew we were going into a battle, but had no idea who the enemy was, or what weapons would be used against us, nor when or how often we would need to fight?

What have you been doing right?

Every week when we meet with a student in the Eternal Warriors program, we ask 6 questions to begin our time together. The above question is part of Question 2, and the wording has been carefully, scientifically chosen to help the mind of the student focus on positive actions they have taken, even in difficult situations.

All of Question 2 reads as follows: “How did you win your most recent difficult battle? What have you been doing right when you win?”

As we help the student focus on what they are doing right that helps them succeed, they are reminded of the power that they are gaining to direct their lives - the power to act, and not to be acted upon. 

Would you like to experience that power more often in your life? Would you like to feel that you are capable of doing what you’ve committed to do - what you’ve covenanted to do - more often? 

It IS possible! And we’d love to help you to reach that point.

Who ‘drives’ your ‘ship’? Who determines your everyday thoughts, words, and actions? Who is at your 'helm'*?

 

In Doctrine and Covenants 123:16, we are told that “a very large ship is benefitted very much by a very small helm in the time of a storm…” When life gets stormy, can you guide your ship confidently and feel peaceful about the way your words and actions line up with what you truly value? Or in moments of stress or difficulty, do you sometimes speak or act in ways that you later regret? 

 

In today’s podcast, we hear Karen, Marquelle, and Kelly discuss how a coach or mentor can help you recognize very small actions that you can take that will make a big difference in how you show up in life, how you 'steer your ship', and in how you feel afterwards!  Our skilled coaches have been through the learning process, and can give timely warnings and needed encouragement when the going gets rough. 

A few verses earlier in the same section, D&C 123:13 reminds us that it’s vital that we spend our time “bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness”, and to attend to them with “great earnestness.” Our Eternal Warriors coaches can help you see those things in the dark corners of your life that you may not even be aware of - thoughts and beliefs that hold you back - and can help you replace them with greater light and truth. How would it feel to respond to challenging situations with more grace and wisdom, and with less regret afterwards?
