Welcome back to the Like Dragons Did They Fight Podcast and part 2 of this coaches episode!

"I can do it myself!"  

Have you ever needed help, and wished someone could help you, but you felt that your need meant that you were weak, and you were too embarrassed to ask for that help, so you just tried to fix things yourself? Or worse, did you just give up and not even try?  

We’ve been there! In today’s episode Karen, Kellie and Roslyn discuss the immense power of a team that you can call on in times of need, and who you can support when they are feeling a desire for some validation and bolstering.

In the book Like Dragons Did They Fight, the very first scripture quoted is Mosiah 20:11 - “But they fought for their lives, and for their wives, and for their children; therefore they exerted themselves and like dragons did they fight.”  

That doesn’t sound like one person taking on another army. Together they fought - and they fought like dragons.  

Sometimes it takes people surrounding us to give us the courage to fight a daunting enemy, Sometimes it takes having someone you trust nearby to help you see things from a clearer perspective. And Sometimes it’s helpful to see how others approach a problem similar to yours, and to gain wisdom and to learn from their experience so you can face yours more effectively.  

Listen in and see how much more power you gain when you fight your battles with a team of people who love you, who understand what you are going through, and who can give you the support you need to win your battles!

Are you a miracle worker? 

One of our coaches reported that one day she was in counsel with a beautiful young woman who was an extremely talented singer, had her own YouTube channel, and had a friendly, outgoing personality. The young woman said, ““I just feel like I don’t have a purpose.”  She felt she should just give up trying.

What was wrong with that picture? 

This young woman had been listening to the wrong voices. She needed to learn to recognize the good she was doing and could continue to do, one small step at a time,  as she focused on the gifts and talents she’d been given and how they could bless her life and the lives of others. She needed to recognize she had a definite purpose - and it could become a passion project that would bring great fulfillment and greater joy. 

In the book Like Dragons Did They Fight, author Maurice Harker states “...every temptation, every torment is designed to keep us from using our gifts and talents to do the small and simple things to bring about miracles.” 

Yes. The adversary doesn't want us to realize it, but each one of us, if we discover our gifts and talents, and then work at developing them, can bring about miracles. 

In the new Children and Youth program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson outlined 4 simple steps to begin the process. Maurice Harker calls it the DPAR process:

Discover - Begin thinking about and searching out those things that appeal to you and that you love to do, that could bless your life and the lives of others. 

Plan - once you’ve spent some time discovering, make a plan to do something, even just in small steps, toward developing those interests and gifts.

Act - Then, most importantly, ACT! Do the thing you’d planned. Be aware - the first time - and maybe the first few times - it may not work out as you’d hoped. But don’t give up!

Reflect - This is when you think about your effort;  rejoice about what went well; refine your plan and ways you’ll improve it, and then:

REPEAT!! Keep discovering, planning, and acting - and growing. 

Listen in, and get excited about what you can discover as you create your own passion project - and bring about your own miracles!
