Pornography. 

It’s an ugly word. 

And most of us want to avoid even thinking about the word, let alone speaking the word and discussing the trauma it can bring into a life. 

But in today’s episode, Karen leads three Life Coaches in a discussion about the power we gain when we muster the courage to talk about the plague of pornography. Talking about it leads to finding the answers that help us to guard against it in our personal lives, in our families, and in our society as a whole. 

We ARE at war, and it’s a war that involves our souls. We can only fight battles successfully if we know the enemy and the weapons that enemy is using. And one of Satan’s most powerful weapons today is pornography.

One church leader was qouted recently as saying that the worst thing about pornography is that it offends the Spirit. Our prophet has told us that “in the coming days it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.”*

Join us and learn ways that you can maintain a constant connection to the influence of the Holy Ghost; guard against pornography; and find healing from the damage it may have already created in your life. With tools, with knowledge, and with the Savior at our side, everyone can be strengthened and healed and find the power and peace we all need to thrive in today’s world.

“You should be ashamed of yourself!” 

I remember hearing those words when I was a child. And oh, I was ashamed. I felt terrible. I knew I’d done wrong; I couldn’t fix things; and the shame I felt was excruciating.

Brene Brown, a researcher at Houston University, defines shame as “an intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love and belonging.” 

When was the last time you did something that you regretted, and felt deeply embarrassed about it? Do you remember the feeling of shame? 

Do you recall wishing you could just sink into the floor and disappear? Did it make you feel like you were less than everyone around you, or like you could never measure up?

In this episode, Karen Broadhead leads three life coaches in a discussion about a truly life-changing concept: Transforming Shame. 

Yes, those demeaning feelings can be transformed. Jesus Christ offers us the Atonement because He knew we would make mistakes. We can feel sorrow at our mistakes, but Christ never shames us. As we acknowledge our weakness and His power, and accept His gift of forgiveness and empowerment, we can see those mistakes as stepping stones, and we can learn to come away from an embarrassing situation feeling confidently repentant, encouraged, and validated.

“I’m the only one who has this challenge. Nobody could understand what it’s like for me.” 

“If people really knew me, and the problems I have, they could never accept or love me.”

“I should be able to figure life out on my own. I don’t want to have to ask for help.” 

These are real statements that real people believe. 

But are they true?

In today’s podcast, we discuss one of the Eternal Warriors lessons, “The Power of a Team.” Life is full of challenges and trials, and when we face those difficulties with a team beside us, we can experience a synergy that gives us power and wisdom far beyond our own.

However, in hard times, it is common for humans to feel uncomfortable about admitting weakness, and especially about asking for help. Where do those feelings come from? 

Elder Klebingat taught that Satan seeks “access to your heart to tell you lies - lies that Heavenly Father is disappointed in you, ….that everyone else is better than you, that you are unworthy, and a thousand variations of that same evil theme.”* 

Because Satan knows that we are more vulnerable when we are alone, he seeks to isolate us, especially when we are feeling weak. He seeks to cloud our vision of who we really are, and why we are here. 

Listen in and see how forming a team - with Jesus Christ as the Captain of that team - can help you see yourself more clearly, and help you face your challenges with greater wisdom, courage, and strength.

Without knowing who you are, it’s hard to find your true purpose in life. 

Does that ring true to you? 

In this episode of the Like Dragons Did They Fight podcast, Karen and three coaches discuss the power that identifying one’s purpose brings to one’s life. In our very first podcast, we talked about the importance of remembering who we are and whose we are. That basic understanding can be life-changing. But there is more we need to know.
