Welcome back to another episode of the Like Mother, Like Daughter podcast! This episode really served as a therapy session for Lauryn as we shared our deepest fears and anxieties about the near future. We began by sharing our "lights" of the week, which included some of the high-strung emotions that Lauryn and Jamee (as the mother) are feeling and how we have served as a support system to one another. With graduation on the horizon, Lauryn shared the intense emotions she has been feeling recently about all the changes that are coming up. We discussed the weird transition of no longer being a student into the working world, and how to navigate figuring out what you really want to do in the future. We also talked about how social media and comparison play a heavy role in making this transition even more confusing and anxiety-inducing. Going forward, we are going to embrace the scary changes coming our way and try to find all the excitement and silver linings about this new chapter. Finally, we shared what we're into for the week and a huge congratulations to our almost college graduate!

Welcome back to Like Mother, Like Daughter! We began our episode by sharing our "lights" of the week. Then, we moved into the topic which was based upon the simultaneous content that we consumed this past week. On a recent episode of the "I Love You So Much" podcast with Kenzie Elizabeth, she shared her struggles as a content creator with the need to brand herself and find her niché, and how fitting in a box can be challenging sometimes. At the same time, Jamee was listening to Brene Brown's "The Gifts of Imperfection." Brene Brown shared the difference between Fitting in and Belonging. “Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be to be accepted. Belonging, on the other hand, doesn't require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.” These conversations really inspired us to dig deep within ourselves and confront our biggest insecurities. We also shared our desire to simply belong and surround ourselves with people that we can be our most authentic self with. Overall, this week's conversation really inspired us and we hope you felt connected to it as well. Finally, we finished with what we're into this week.

Welcome back to the Like Mother, Like Daughter podcast! We spent a great Thanksgiving break at home together, and we dive all into the ups and downs of the past week by starting off the episode with our lights. Then, we dived into this week's episode which was all about painful goodbyes and Sunday Scaries, which was top of mind after this past weekend with Lauryn heading back to school and Jamee starting up work again. Although it has gotten easier over the past 3.5 years, Jamee still has a hard time saying goodbye to Max and Lauryn at the end of each holiday break. In this episode we share this mother/daughter's perspective on what our goodbye's are like and ways that we cope with them. We also talk about how to just face our anxieties about the work we have head on and know that we will be able to accomplish it. This episode was very therapeutic for us and are glad we got to share. Finally, we shared what we're into for the week. Please don't forget to share this episode or a recent one you loved with a friend to help grow our audience!

Welcome to another episode of LMLD! While we have SO much to say about the recent release of Red (Taylor's Version), we are delaying the episode by a week in order to give you guys and ourselves the best experience. In the meantime, we decided to return back to one of our favorite conversations on the podcast...diet culture! We began the episode by sharing our "lights" of the week and then a brief update about where we each are individually doing in terms of our progress in the "health and wellness" space. We share our frustrations with how we relate to others in the space, what diet culture brings out in people, and of course what it brings out in us. We come to somewhat a consensus, though we both hesitate in terms of where we really stand. We feel proud of our progress, however, we know there is still a long road ahead of us and we will probably be grappling with these issues forever. We also make a promise to try to create our own meaning of health and doing our best to stop comparing our bodies, thoughts, and experiences to others. Finally, we share what we are into for the week and a brief teaser into our thoughts on all things Red (Taylor's Version) and Taylor Swift. We can't wait to come back next week for a great episode about or favorite person in person!

TW: Discussion of body image, disordered eating, and diet culture
We are back with another great episode! We began by sharing our "lights" of the week, including a moment for Jamee and Lauryn that led into the topic for this week's episode. After a disappointment they experienced followed by an epic therapy session, we talked all about the importance of being good listeners. We discussed when we need to help or when we just need to listen when others are coming to us with their own struggles. We also shared tips for boundary setting, active listening strategies, and examples of these experiences in action. Whether you are trying to help mothers or daughters like us or just being a supportive friend, we hope that this episode was valuable in being able to help. Finally, we discussed what we're into, including two book recommendations(!!), and signed off for the week.

We then go into the topic of the week, which is all about our vow to be "yes girls." We discuss the importance of seizing opportunities as they come and not missing out on all the fun times, especially as we are moving into a hopefully post-COVID era. We share past instances of times when we were surprised that something turned out better than we thought, and we would never know if we didn't try. Finally, we discuss what we're into for the week and close out the episode. Enjoy!

Everyday is Bones Day at Like Mother, Like Daughter! Don't know what the heck that means? Stay tuned and keep listening. We began the episode by sharing our "lights" of the week. Lauryn then went on to explain her inspiration for this episode, which sparked when she first learned of the "Bones Day" trend taking over TikTok where @jongraz and his dog Noodle dictate how we approach each day. This made her question why we choose to believe in things, like astrology, movie or TV characters, or even religion that don't really have any ground to stand on. Besides discussing how crazy it is that these trends exist and blow up so quickly, we shared our own personal favorite things we love to dive into and what benefits they provide us. And of course, we finished this episode by discussing what we're into for the week ("The Clover Girls" by Viola Shipman, reality show "Dancing with the Stars," and "Maid" on Netflix. Whether you are believers like us, or more skeptical non-believers, we thought this was a pretty unique episode and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it!

This week we are back with our new themed monthly "word" episodes, but before we dove into it we had to discuss our "lights" of the week. We then dove into our word for this month, was none other than the word communication. We discussed the importance of healthy, face to face communication in spite of the ways that prevent us to do so. Shoutout to social media and texting for putting some limits on this effective communication and giving us many headaches as we navigate our relationships with others. We concluded this segment by sharing some tips and strategies that help us communicate better and our promise to try to uphold these skills in the future. Finally, we shared what we're into for the week, including our recent binge of "My Unorthodox Life" and Jamee's favorite bird quiz from her camping retreat.

Therapy just might be for everyone and we learned that especially on this week's episode with our special guest and psychotherapist Carol Hayman. We began this episode with our fancy new microphones by sharing our special week at home together throughout our "lights" of this week (along with a very vulnerable announcement from Lauryn). We then brought Carol on to talk all about her life's work. She first shares how she is connect to us. We then talked about got into therapy as a career, what she's learned from her clients through the years, and how mental health has been affected by the pandemic. She also discusses some strategies on self-care that we hope were beneficial. We hope you got a lot out of this episode and enjoyed Carol's wisdom! We finished the episode by sharing what we're into for the week.
