Adrenal-protocol CT is commonly performed as part of the diagnostic workup of adrenal nodules, in order to distinguish adrenal adenomas from tumors. However, there has been limited evaluation of its efficacy in heterogeneous nodules. Sid Dogra, MD discusses a recent multi-institutional study evaluating different methods of ROI placement and show that adrenal-protocol CT generally has poor diagnostic performance in distinguishing adrenal adenomas and non-adenomas in heterogeneous nodules.
