This Weekend in Hedonism (Segment 3)

Creamy Grape Salad

Ingredients

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream

1/3 cup sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 pounds seedless red grapes

2 pounds seedless green grapes

3 tablespoons brown sugar

3 tablespoons chopped pecans

 Directions

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla until blended. Add grapes and toss to coat.  Transfer to a serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans just before serving. Yield: 21-24 servings. In many recipes, thick and tangy Greek yogurt stands in beautifully for sour cream and lightens things up. Mix in chopped candy bars. Crunchy Snickers and Heath bars play particularly well with the juicy grap

Cheryl’s Recipe Corner

Slow Cooker Irish Dublin Coddle

Ingredients

1 lb breakfast sausage (with sage, if possible) in smooth casings

¾ lb bacon

2 cups low-sodium beef broth

1 garlic cloves, minced

2 small onions, chopped into large chunks

1 lb potatoes or sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks

1 pound carrots (peeled and cut into chunks), optional

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Cook bacon and sausage over medium heat until fully browned. Drain any grease.  Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker.  Stir until well combined.  Cook HIGH 2-3 hours or LOW 4-6 hours.
