Liquid Sunshine Radio Show - Funk, Groove, Disco & Beats - All The Good Stuff!!

Hello Groovers,

This week’s Liquid Sunshine brings last week’s event experience to the radio—an old school journey through sweet and slow sexy RnB for the first hour, then shifting into classic rap and hip-hop that defined the golden age. From Whitney Houston and Jill Scott’s timeless elegance through Erykah Badu and Floetry’s soulful depth, the opening sets the mood before A Tribe Called Quest, Eric B & Rakim, and De La Soul take over with that unmatched ’90s energy and lyricism. It’s two hours of pure nostalgia with substance—music that reminds you why old school RnB and hip-hop remain the gold standard.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine continues our Salsoul Records journey with part two—all edits, remixes, and re-edits from contemporary producers who understand how to honor the past while bringing these classics into the present. From Late Nite Tuff Guy's muscle-bound rework of "Ooh I Love It" to Pete LeFreq's refined refreq of Logg, Joey Negro's "Salsoul Strut," and Dimitri From Paris' reimagining of "Love Sensation," these producers prove that Salsoul's DNA is timeless and infinitely reinterpretable. It's part two of our retrospective: where part one was the foundation, this week is proof that the best music never dies—it just gets remixed, reframed, and dances into the future.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine is a deep dive into Salsoul Records—the legendary Philadelphia label that championed sophisticated soul, funk, and disco when the mainstream wasn't listening, displayed through unusual original 12" records that showcase the label's incredible range and vision. From Instant Funk's raw edge to Loleatta Holloway's timeless elegance, Joe Bataan's Latin-tinged rap-funk to The Salsoul Orchestra's orchestral mastery, these tracks prove Salsoul wasn't just a disco label—it was a cultural institution that understood soul at its deepest. It's part one of a Salsoul retrospective: tonight we honor the originals and the history, next week we'll explore how contemporary producers continue the legacy with modern edits of these same classics.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine takes you through my personal listening collection—the global spiritual soul music I explore on streaming services to fuel inspiration for DJ sets and radio shows. From Roy Hargrove's jazz sophistication and Fela Kuti's Afrobeat revolution to Pastor TL Barrett's gospel transcendence, Tania Maria's Brazilian fire, and Yuksek's contemporary reimagining of traditional sounds, this is music from every continent united by one essential quality: authentic spiritual depth and uncompromising musicianship. It's a hotch potch of research, inspiration, and pure listening pleasure—the soundtrack to my ongoing exploration of how soul, spirituality, and groove transcend borders and generations, and how these sounds feed directly into everything I play for you.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine is an evening of disco edits—starting with Tod Terje's sublime reimagining of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" and moving through timeless reworks from Masters At Work, Joey Negro, and Dave Lee that prove the best edits don't improve the originals, they just give them new life for the dancefloor. From Harold Melvin's wake-up call through Loleatta Holloway's runaway groove and the silky soul of Bobby D'Ambrosio's "Moment Of My Life," every track carries that essential warmth and humanity that makes disco edits so much more than just technical exercises. (Fair warning: we had a few technical hiccups along the way—a bit of gear trouble causing some dropouts—but like any good live broadcast, we kept the groove moving and the vibes intact.)

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine is unapologetically sexy—house music built on horny horns and sultry saxophones that do exactly what they're designed to do: seduce, tease, and turn you on. From "I Love Sax In NY" to The Latin Vision's intoxicating brass arrangements, these tracks understand that sex and music are inseparable on the dancefloor—Prince knew it when he called Candy Dulfer for that saxophone urgency, and every producer on this show knows it too. It's two hours where the horns are throbbing, the sax is sinuous, and the whole vibe is about one thing: getting close to someone and letting the music do what it does best—make bodies move together with pure sexual energy and unrestrained desire.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine came straight from the pile—records still waiting to be put away after recent DJ sets, creating an eclectic mix of disco in all its forms: classic cuts, contemporary nu-disco edits, wonky electronic interpretations, and everything in between. From Captain Sky's cosmic opener through the timeless grooves of Loleatta Holloway and T-Connection to modern producers like Red Rack'em and Soul Central who twist disco into something new and strange, the thread running through is pure disco DNA meeting contemporary production. It's two hours of spontaneous curation from the pile—proof that sometimes the best sets aren't planned, they're just discovered among the records you haven't tidied up yet.
