Liquid Sunshine Radio Show - Funk, Groove, Disco & Beats - All The Good Stuff!!

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine came straight from the pile—records still waiting to be put away after recent DJ sets, creating an eclectic mix of disco in all its forms: classic cuts, contemporary nu-disco edits, wonky electronic interpretations, and everything in between. From Captain Sky's cosmic opener through the timeless grooves of Loleatta Holloway and T-Connection to modern producers like Red Rack'em and Soul Central who twist disco into something new and strange, the thread running through is pure disco DNA meeting contemporary production. It's two hours of spontaneous curation from the pile—proof that sometimes the best sets aren't planned, they're just discovered among the records you haven't tidied up yet.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine is raw party funk from the 70s—unpolished, unapologetic, and built entirely for getting bodies on the dancefloor and keeping them there. From The Meters' relentless hand-clapping grooves to Archie Bell & The Drells' irresistible "Tighten Up" and deep cuts from The Explosions and Pookey Blow, these tracks have zero interest in subtlety or contemplation—they just want to make you move, celebrate, and feel alive. It's two hours of pure street-level funk that proves the best party music doesn't need production polish or overthinking, it just needs a groove that won't quit and a message that's simple: get up and dance.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine is soulful house—contemporary dance music that never forgot where it came from, drawing deep from soul, funk, and global influences to create something that moves both body and spirit. It's two hours that prove house music at its best isn't just about the beat—it's about the soul underneath, the funk that refuses to disappear, and the global heartbeat that makes it all feel alive and real.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine is all about the foundation—tracks unified by one essential element: truly excellent, unusual, and absolutely locked-in baselines that you can feel in your bones. From contemporary house heroes like Cody Curie & Eliza Rose and Prunk to classic funk/soul legends like Tata Vega and Roy Ayers, the bassline is king—whether it's walking, grooving, or hypnotizing, each track lives or dies by how the low end moves and breathes. It's two hours where the bass isn't just supporting the track, it IS the track—the groove that makes bodies move, the heartbeat that holds everything together, the reason you feel the music before you hear it.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine traces the evolution of gospel from its spiritual roots through the dancefloor, starting with classic soul-gospel foundations before ascending into the ecstatic realms of gospel disco and ultimately gospel house. From Andrew Gibson's gratitude through The Clarke Sisters' overwhelming holy ghost overdose to Barbara Tucker's iconic "I Get Lifted" and the remixed glory of Alicia Myers and Patchwork's Joubert Singers, these are big vocals, transcendent melodies, and unshakeable faith meeting the beat that makes bodies move. It's two hours that prove gospel music never left the church—it just found new sanctuaries on the dancefloor, where elevation happens through both spirit and rhythm.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine celebrates the art of the re-edit—exploring the infinite possibilities of disco classics reimagined through contemporary ears: re-edits, remixes, regrooves, and every variation of reworking that keeps timeless tracks alive and dancing. From Dimitri From Paris' surgical touch on Chic's "Le Freak" to Jacques Renault's elegant reinterpretations and Futurecast's funky regroove of James Brown, these producers prove that great music isn't fixed—it's alive, malleable, and endlessly reinterpretable. It's two hours that celebrate both the originals and the artists brave enough to reimagine them, proving that sometimes the best way to honour a classic is to give it new life.

Hello Groovers,

This week marks a historic moment for Liquid Sunshine—our first live broadcast simultaneously on The Face Radio and Trust.FM, two stations united by the same mission: authentic music outside the mainstream, valuing creative freedom and DIY ethos over commercial success. Whether you're listening on The Face (our generation) or Trust (the next generation), the message is the same: music that makes you feel good, that carries warmth and positive vibes, and that speaks to something real and human. From Roy Ayers' timeless soul to Teddy Pendergrass' infectious groove, Harold Melvin's heart-breaking beauty to the pure funk of Cymande, these are the tracks that transcend age—proof that when the music is honest and the groove is true, it doesn't matter what generation you belong to, you're all moving to the same heartbeat.

Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine is OG disco 12"—but not the mainstream stuff that everyone knows, this is the deep cuts and hot fire that defined the real underground dancefloors. From Kleeer's relentless groove and Loose Joints' raw sexuality to lesser-known heat like Virile Holt's "Hot Love" and Visual's hypnotic funk-disco fusion, these are the tracks that serious collectors hunt for and DJs fight over. It's two hours of pure disco essence: the kind of music that proves when you strip away the production polish and the pop radio sheen, you find something infinitely grittier, funkier, and way more dangerous.
