“How is this going to serve me?” I bristle when I hear that phrase because I once believed words like that were the epitome of “self-ish” — NOT SO!
Julian Sarafian speaks to his high-pressured path from Berkeley to Harvard to a career in Big Law and then his decision to go a different direction.
We have romanticized hustle-culture and for what? It often tanks our mental and physical health - and it doesn't make much of a life either.
This conversation illuminates the sheer necessity of relooking at what we want and what serves us so that we can live fully and contribute meaningful work and a full self to the world.
Guest Bio:
Julian is a lawyer and content creator. His legal practice focuses on content creators, social media influencers, and startups. His content surrounds mental health, the law, and politics. Julian's work has been featured in the NY Times, Bloomberg Law, American Lawyer, Business Insider, and on CNBC. A graduate of UC Berkeley and Harvard Law School, Sarafian has given several TEDx talks.

It took us a few minutes to get rolling in this episode because I was speaking carefully…and NOT because Tiffany K. Martin makes conversation difficult (quite the contrary - she is an exceptional woman). I was playing it safe.
We talk about life’s ever-shifting rules of engagement and our instinct of playing it safe or staying silent so we don’t “rock the boat.” And then, we dig into the value of rocking boats anyway.
We won’t always tackle new information beautifully - but we can continue to show up, learn and grow.
Guest Bio:
Tiffany K. Martin is an equity-minded thought leader, speaker, presenter and author, and she is the CEO of TKMartin Consulting LLC. Serving as an Executive Change Strategist and ICF-certified Professional Coach (CPC/CLC), Tiffany helps people leaders, professionals and small business owners clarify their objectives, develop a strategy and take action! Never underestimate the power of a person who can connect to their truth and bring THAT voice forward! Maybe you relate, as I do, to the individual who is detached from their real feelings and stories. How often do we find ourselves in a battle with the constant chatter in our head - delivering words that represent half-truths, people-pleasing, and performative behavior.
I am a classic example of a person who communicated with a need for validation and peace - keeping everything palatable. I am convinced that is why I was called into my work as a communications coach. Many of us are called into the work we NEED.

Albert and I are close in age and shared values but we arrive at our conversation with very different origin stories…he grew up as a Mexican-American in LA surrounded by gangs, violence, insecurity and pain. I am a white girl raised in Silicon Valley with all of the privilege that comes with a stable family, education, and opportunity.
We talk about trauma and transformation and navigating the circumstances that push us to “go to work” and rewrite our stories later in life.
Guest Bio:
Albert Chavez is not just a name; it's a symbol of transformation and resilience. An author, mentor, and founder of the Uncommon Man Transformation and Self-Mastery Program, he brings a riveting journey of personal growth and redemption that has inspired individuals worldwide.
From a turbulent past plagued with broken families and inner chaos, Albert emerged as a powerhouse of transformation. His best-selling book, "From Darkness to Redemption," is a beacon of hope for those seeking to overcome adversity and reclaim their lives. With this compelling narrative, Albert takes his audience on a profound voyage from despair to triumph.
As the father of three grown children (Kayleigh, Albert, Alyssa) and a doting grandfather to young Brielle, Albert knows the profound importance of his message. He’s a man who's walked the walk, and now he’s here to guide you along the path of self-discovery and redemption.
Albert delves into the core principles of personal growth and self-mastery. His insights offer invaluable tools for individuals to break free from the shackles of their past, confront their inner demons, and embrace a future filled with purpose and fulfillment.

I’m the kind of person who dreams and plans in grand fashion. For years, I operated under a notion that big ideas require even bigger action plans - and that small actions are insignificant and a waste of time. And predictably, my workload became unsustainable and I would stall in overwhelm. Here's a newsflash if you resonate with me - starting simply is not only incredibly effective - it is a reliable entry point to getting what we want and need.
In this episode I speak with Kathleen Klug, coach and author of Start With ONE. We talk about mindset shifts and beginning simply - building upon small wins to accomplish major endeavors.
Guest Bio:
Kathleen Klug has been working as a Fitness, Health & Wellness Professional for more than 40 years in the roles of Fitness Professional (Group Ex; Personal Trainer; CEU Instructor), an Institute of Integrated Nutrition Holistic Health Coach, a Health Educator, and the author of START With ONE: A Simple Approach to Upgrade your Health: Body, Mind, & Spirit, and hold a degree in Addition Studies.

We have another kind of “me too” movement on our hands. This conversation with Eunice Brownlee blew my mind as she shared her personal experience with domestic abuse and the inequities often found in the family court system. It is enough to experience abuse at the hands of another; but to endure additional pain inflicted by the very system meant to arbitrate justice and provide protection? Disheartening.
BUT conversations like this one change things! Eunice explains the often missed distinctions between domestic violence and domestic abuse - and that information holds the power to liberate many more of us.
I gained an expanded perspective that allows me to contribute to meaningful solutions instead of looking away and simply assuming “it’s all ok” (that’s code for hoping I never have to deal with it myself). This convo is an opportunity to witness another person’s story - thus, delivering more hopeful perspective that invites change instead of preserving the status quo.
*A loving warning about our content, this episode references acts of domestic violence and homicide within families. Please take care in listening.
Guest Bio:
Eunice Brownlee has spent her life telling stories across many mediums. As a multi-passionate creative, she’s used photography, marketing, writing, and public speaking to connect her message to the world. Because the heart of building community begins with sharing stories, Eunice uses her stories to connect, heal, and inspire change. Eunice spends time teaching others the craft of story in her speaking and writing practice. She has coached speakers in telling their stories with WomanSpeak and TEDxFolsom. Eunice’s writing has been published in Jennifer Magazine, Motherscope, and Spoken Black Girl, to name a few. When she’s not doing any of the above, she can be found seeking her next passport stamp and drinking wine.
