One of the Most Beautiful Books: The Art Is Beyond Description

I would not have known about this book except that the author/artist was interview on the NewsHour (PBS) at the time--it was last week--of Nelson Mandela's death. I don't have the vocabulary to describe the artwork. But when one reviewer says she was disappointed because this is a children's book (yes, of course it would be sold as one), I can only say that this book is for everyone who has a love for the life and work of Nelson Mandela. This is a book that you can count on as being just one of those absolutely perfect gifts. The text is straight forward, but it is the art work that is so awe-inspiring.

I bought this book for my first grader. It is a wonderful book about Nelson Mandela. It is wonderfully illustrated and written. I highly recommend this book for all elementary age kids.

Must Have!

I purchased two copies of this book as holiday gifts for two young boys just before the passing of Nelson Mandela, and I'm so glad I did! The illustrations are outstanding and bring the story to life! This is an excellent way to educate a young child on the life and legacy of this great leader in a captivating and meaningful way! I wish this illustrator would also produce a coffee table book of great leaders for adult consumption!

Great Book!

Loved it. Vivid colors. Easy reading. I read this on Nelson Mandela's birthday to children ages 5-12 who attended a summer Camp program. The book allowed for great discussion.

Such a cute book!

I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend, and it is so cute! It has a lovely rhythm to it, which makes it fun to read and the pictures are adorable.

Small, hard cover/hard page book. This is not full size, it fits easily in adult hand. Likely will be great for smaller kiddo-sized hands. Cute story too!

Adorable, highly recommended

My 5 month old grandson loves for us to read to him. We can tell when he really likes a particular book because he moves his arms and legs around in excitement and then he will become very still for 15 seconds or so and move around excitedly again. Sully absolutely loves Is Your Mama a Llama, and it is one of his favorites out of twenty some books that we have for him. I found a song that goes with the book on youtube, and we have memorized all the words and sing the song as we read it to him and turn the pages. If you are interested, you can find the song on youtube by doing a search for "Is Your Mama a Llama (Original Song) - Book Included". (I would post the link but Amazon will probably erase it)

The book itself is strong and sturdy with boarded pages that are impossible for him to damage at this age. He likes to turn the pages (if that's what one would call it!) and so board verses paper is much better for him at this age as he could easily tear the pages or give himself paper cuts.

Adorable and highly recommended

A side note: Amazon truly needs to improve their shipment packaging and protect their books like they used to. At least 90% of the children's books we have ordered have arrived damaged and had to be returned. The replacements have been damaged as well.

Love love this funny book !

My seven-year-old daughter absolutely adores Arnie the doughnut. She likes the humor in the wit and the ridiculousness. She loves the illustrations and has re-read this book and the other Arnie the doughnut book many many times.

Very Funny Book!

This is one of our (my 7 yr old and me) favorite books. We rented it from the library and knew we had to add it to our collection! It is so funny! You will love it!

Best Book Ever

This little story has been a favorite in our family for years. All three of my kids have made me read them this book over and over and over. The extra little details are hilarious. You won't be disappointed in this book. Just be prepared to have to read it until you have it memorized! HA!

parents help required

my son just started reading Flat Stanley, he is just entering 1st grade. from what i recall the description didnt specify the ages on these book. they are more along the 2nd-3rd grade level. no problem that just means we have to read them with him.

Hey who stole the toilet

It was so funny and good for kids not for adults because it is muddy for adults and teens so it was a good book

Perfect for a third grader

I wish I had bought paperbacks instead of e-reader books. I struggled with enjoying reading at this age and this series has keep my 3 grade son interested.
