Definitely an Expert
Hugh is a leadership expert who has clear thinking and clear writing -- exactly what you get in this book (or in his consulting)! I spoke with Hugh recently and these 7 Principles were boiled down from 13. This tells me a few things: (a) this guy KNOWS leadership and (b) he writes about what is critical to being an excellent leader (Mindset, Awareness) and (c) he is an expert because of his ability to condense and make things simple - not more complex.
Innovative & Insightful Approach to Personal & Organizational Transformation
Hugh Blane's book is highly engaging. Blane posits that leaders must transform their mindset before they can successfully transform their organization. I agree. The book includes a great framework and exercises for how to initiate both an individual and an organizational transformation. It strikes a great balance of being both inspirational and practical. I highly recommend it to leaders at every level as well as aspiring leaders.
Five Stars
Iâve bought this book for several employees at several different offices and has been really helpful
Thinking About Leadership Thinking
Hugh Blane is an original thinker in leadership thinking, which is only appropriate. He's successfully focused in this book on mindset and attitude, and how they inform behavior and influence others. The good news is that there aren't expensive programs or interventions needed, because it's about how leaders think about their roles in turbulent times. However, that's the bad news, as well: personal accountability. This is a different and original approach for those who seek to, and realize they must, transform their own thinking before they can transform their organizations.
Well Worth the Read!
Hugh Blane holds nothing back, as he boldly shares his transformational journey from a scared six-year old to a successful entrepreneur, who is keen on helping others achieve their full potential. What I love most about Blane's book is that his lessons are from the school of real life. He generously shares his experiences working with world-class clients and allows the reader to see that there are other people who struggle with the same things we find challenging.
You'll get the most out of this book if you read it with an open mind. By doing so, you'll see that often times the only thing that is holding us back in what's in between our ears.
