    Publisher's Summary:
The key to success in the knowledge economy is quality employee experience.
Executives must protect knowledge workers (and themselves) from stress and burn-out. How can you and your team be creative when exhaustion and frustration from 24/7 communications, changing priorities, and constant distractions are the norm?
Today's "always-on" work culture actually prevents you and your team from producing what really matters: ideas, innovation, and meaningful results.
According to Maura Thomas in Work Without Walls, "(in the knowledge economy,) the most important individual and corporate resources are neither time nor money, but body and mind." Her research and 20+ years of experience in the productivity field confirm that relationships and productivity suffer when people are stressed, and that greater employee happiness creates success and productivity, and is essential to deliver great customer experiences.
Author Maura Thomas describes how to intentionally create a workplace culture that nurtures creativity and improves productivity by focusing on high-quality employee experience through:
Each chapter provides personal shifts and organizational changes through specific action items you can implement now to support the well-being and long-term success of you, your team, and your organization.
"If conventional wisdom says that constant work is necessary for professional success, I can't think of a more important time to buck convention." (Maura Nevel Thomas)
    Members Reviews:
    Too annoying to finish
This book gives an entry-level explanation of how employees in the knowledge industry work. I think the modern executive (who this book is supposedly aimed at) would struggle to find any new or valuable information here.
    The book also provides pre-canned
tweets that you are welcome to copy verbatim and tweet to your employees to inspire them.
And that tells you everything you need to know.

Develop the qualities of strategic leadership and become an active contributor to the short- and long-term success of your organization.
Today's organizations face two daunting challenges: how to create new sources of competitive advantage to sustain long-term growth, and how to engage leaders at every level of the organization so that they are more proactive and forward-looking in their area of responsibility. The Art of Strategic Leadership uses a unique approach to examine what it means to be a strategic leader. Instead of focusing on the skills, behaviors, and tools found in typical books on strategic leadership, the authors shed light on the attributes and qualities necessary to lead strategic change and help transform a business. Strategic leadership is what modern leadership is all about. Organizations expect leaders to anticipate and be proactive more than ever before. In this book, the authors draw on their vast experience working directly with leaders at all levels and use an intriguing narrative to explain this inside-out approach to understanding strategic leadership. The narrative follows the journey of how one manager discovered these critically important qualities. You will experience first-hand how these values and attributes manifest in the lives of realistic leaders, how they orchestrate long-term strategic change needed for the organization to compete and survive, and actively shape the future while delivering short-term results.
The Art of Strategic Leadership provides the content that will help you informally assess and reflect on your own strategic leadership qualities - those that are strengths and those that indicate areas you need to develop. It will guide you as you incorporate these values and qualities into your own leadership style and become a more effective catalyst for change. This book will help you in the following ways:
Strategic leaders serve as powerful examples to others in the organization. Their qualities and traits spread rapidly to those around them, empowering people at every level to take a more active role in meeting the demands of the future. The Art of Strategic Leadership will help you deepen and broaden your understanding of the core qualities of strategic leadership, leaving you better equipped to lead yourself and your team to a better place and create greater value for customers, owners, and employees.

    Narrator: Jon Pitt
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 44 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-10-17
    Publisher: University Press Audiobooks
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Stories of government management failures often make the headlines, but quietly much gets done as well. What makes the difference? Ira Goldstein offers wisdom about how to lead and succeed in the federal realm, even during periods when the political climate is intensely negative, based on his decades of experience as a senior executive at two major government consulting firms and as a member of the US federal government's Senior Executive Service. The Federal Management Playbook coaches the importance of always keeping four key concepts in mind when planning for success: goals, stakeholders, resources, and time frames. Its chapters address how to effectively motivate government employees, pick the right technologies, communicate and negotiate with powerful stakeholders, manage risks, get value from contractors, foster innovation, and more. Goldstein makes lessons easy to apply by breaking each chapter's plans into three strategic phases: create an offensive strategy, execute your plan effectively, and play a smart defense. Additional tips describe how career civil servants and political appointees can get the most from one another, advise consultants on providing value to government, and help everyone better manage ever-present oversight. The Federal Management Playbook is a must-listen for anyone working in the government realm and for students who aspire to public service.
The book is published by Georgetown University Press.

So short cut painful leadership and communication learning
As a professional communicator of 30+ profesional seasons I say: Get this book. Had I had it back in 1993 when I started, I would have been commanding 10x fees. So short cut painful leadership and communication learning, read this book and become the best leader you can be (plus: It's a great read thanks to all the metaphors and anecdotes. Revelation trumps explanation - in it's purest form)

The workshop on Cultural Clash was a very important step for me as well as my seniors. As we all know, actively living cultural diversity should be one of the most important leadership tasks in any global company. Length: 6 hrs and 37 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-31-17
    Publisher: Greenleaf Book Group
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 6 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Do you feel confident you're a leader with influence? You may be surprised to discover you're not as influential as you think you are.
Your team is only as strong as your influence, and many leaders today are mistaken about what it means to be influential. An outdated influence paradigm, along with technological devices and distractions, is making it increasingly challenging for leaders to reach those they need to influence in order to be successful. In fact many leaders are unwillingly and unknowingly sabotaging themselves and their influence.
In her thought-provoking Influence Redefined, Stacey Hanke introduces her powerful Influence Model, a step-by-step method for improving communication and producing the ideal type of influence - one that moves people to action long after an interaction is over. She dispels the most common influence myths and instructs leaders on how to stop sabotaging themselves in order to leave a positive, lasting impression.
Using a results-based definition of influence for individuals and organizations, Hanke successfully shows leaders how they can develop influence as a skill through self-awareness, consistency, a positive reputation, adaptability, and impact.
With insights from dozens of executives and business leaders as well as practical how-tos and action steps, Influence Redefined will help leaders multiply and expand their influence every day, Monday to Monday.
Through Stacey Hanke, Inc., the author has provided keynotes, mentoring, and training on communicating with influence to thousands of leaders across industries. She is the author of Yes You Can! and has appeared in the New York Times and SmartMoney. Hanke was recognized as one of the National Speakers Association's ''Top 6 Under 40.''

    Monotonous and obvious.
Basically, be great all day everyday and you'll be great all day everyday. Genius right?
Save your money and time on this one.
    A new perspective on Influence
Everyone understands Leadership is influence. This book takes that concept to a whole new level. A fresh look at influence. I highly recommend you get this book and digest it.
    A Must Read
Stacey nails it! Self awareness, K.N.O.W, debunking myths, this book has it all. There are so many "leaders" who need to read, and apply, the many techniques outlined. She not only gives action steps to improve, but supplies the reasons WHY. The quotes, the tips, the drills, the insights, simply marvelous....Monday to Monday.
    Helpful information and stories
Would you try another book from Stacey Hanke and/or Stacey Hanke?
Stacey is an expert on being an influential communicator, and she covers valuable points throughout the book. It is also helpful how she shares real life stories of her clients and how they applied the information. The book actually seems like it has more stories in it to make her point than her information, although I believe it works.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
What was a bit annoying is how she was talking as though she does when she presents before a large audience. She places heavy emphasis on words that begins to be annoying. It takes a bit to overcome it. The last 1/3 of the book she doesn't do it as much. I would prefer her to talk to me instead of presenting.
