Great book - I read on Sunday morning before my week starts and then reflect on that weeks topic during the week, taking notes.
Like most of these business books
Like most of these business books, they make all their points in the first chapter and then repeat them over and over again until the end of the book. There are some good insights throughout.
    An absolutely amazing book
I've been reading Drucker's work for many years and this book is a great way to revisit the most important concepts. I read other reviews that this book should be read in weekly chunks but the information is so great that I had to skip ahead. I would recommend this book to any leader out there and I can't wait to read it again.
    Five Stars
Excellent use and review of Druckers work. I will continue to refer to it for his insights and advice.
    The Spiritual Dr.D
I've admired Mr. D for a long time. this book puts his nuggets into bite size, reflective chunks. I love learning a new depth about him. I did not realize that he wanted corporations to work to maximize the well being of all their workers as well as long term profits.

  • Game Theory and Strategy Explained Audiobook by Can Akdeniz

Title: Game Theory and Strategy Explained
    Author: Can Akdeniz
    Narrator: David Williams
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 40 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-29-15
    Publisher: Can Akdeniz
Ratings: 2.5 of 5 out of 13 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Game theory has evolved since its inception. But at its root, it is the modeling of strategic interactions between two or more players where there is a set of rules and outcomes. This basic definition gets to the heart of what game theory is. And this can be applied to almost any situation in your life and your business.
Regardless of your status, as an entrepreneur or a part of the employed, this theory can serve you well. It can help you develop strategic approaches to real-life situations where you predict, with remarkable accuracy, the best possible route towards the best possible outcomes. If you wanted to have a crystal ball, one that helps you predict the future, then game theory would be as close to that crystal ball as you can get in real life!
Game theory and strategy go hand in hand. In fact, they are like the big brother and the little brother of social interaction. Where game theory is the big brother, used to guide you along the way, strategy is the little brother, needing guidance. Strategy cannot exist successfully in the absence of big brother! They, therefore, have a tandem and reciprocal relationship.
    Members Reviews:
    Excellent Synopsis!
A concise capture of the breadth of various game theories for busoness application. The summarized approach makes it a good paring with a more detailed writing of the mathematical thepries.
For Bluffers only. Amusingly bad at times.
What would have made Game Theory and Strategy Explained better?
Some (any) structure. Some way to actually understand or apply any of the fairly random stream of concepts that the author throws at the reader - almost always without explaining/defining them. Some references to places where you can ACTUALLY learn to apply game theory.
Would you ever listen to anything by Can Akdeniz again?
Certainly not about game theory. There seems to be no depth or applicability to the material here and little helpful structure.I sadly purchased a second book by the same author on a related topic at the same time and it is similarly chaotic. Wish I hadn't.
What three words best describe David Williamss voice?
    Almost sounds convincing
You didnt love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It potentially gives you a recognition of some of the concepts so you would recognise them if someone talked about game theory at a party (bluffer value only) It's unintentionally funny at times - like Monty Python's "How to play the flute": You just blow in one end and move your fingers! You get the picture. Hence I laughed out loud several times though probably not where the author intended. The style and performance is quite approachable though hampered by repetition and annoying reminders of how great the author thinks game theory is.
    Any additional comments?
My expectations for a short piece costing a few bucks were not especially high but this really wasn't very good at all. It's most like listening to a talk about game theory tailored for school children. A few vague descriptions and examples of where it can be applied to get kids engaged but no actual details of the maths or models and consequently no actual applicable learning. You just learn some of the words.Buyer beware here ...

    Publisher: Tomorrow's Strategy Today, LLC
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 46 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
An essential book for the modern technology driven organization narrated by the author
Authored by the only cybersecurity and healthcare IT leader in the world with 12 years' experience as Chief Information Officer, a Doctor of Science in the field, and the prestigious CISSP, PMP, and CPHIMS certifications.
Managing cybersecurity requires a multi-disciplinary holistic business approach. Many of the current cybersecurity approaches in organizations and most books are based on an outdated 1991 model of cybersecurity - focused solely on technology solutions. This book provides the 2014 model and shows why leadership engagement of people within an organization is critical for success. Culture development through leadership is essential because culture governs behavior. Apply the time tested principles explained in this book for success in any organization.
Today cybersecurity strategy is the same as information technology strategy. Cybersecurity drives the mission of the modern organization. Done right it can be a hallmark of distinction and a source of productivity and innovation in an organization. Failure to lead cybersecurity can easily lead to business failure. This book is an essential read for CIOs, CISOs, or any organizational business leader or student who wishes to understand how to build successful organizations. No prior background in cybersecurity or technology is required to understand this book.
In addition to 30 years of real world experience implementing organizational cybersecurity strategy, the author teaches cybersecurity to graduate students and executives at several US National Centers of Academic Excellence. The author is an opinion writer and conference speaker on cybersecurity, healthcare and leadership issues and is frequently quoted and cited in the media.
    Members Reviews:
CIOs and CISOs should read this book...
What made the experience of listening to Cybersecurity Leadership the most enjoyable?
"Cybersecurity Leadership" is a holistic approach and roadmap for leaders to ponder and to follow as they strive to build a world class organization and an effective cyber program. Most of the lessons parallel what I've done in practice while others stimulate and almost mandate a lively conversation.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Cybersecurity Leadership?
As I read the book, I had frequent flashbacks to my past experiences as the FBI CIO and as a Wall Street executive. The "Penguin Award" that I started at the FBI parallels the notion of inspiring calculated risk taking.
    Any additional comments?
    I enjoyed this book.
A fresh look at leadership for a changing world.
This is not simply a book advising on cyber security tactics or choosing technology controls. Dr. Hasib takes us deeper into what it means to be a leader and clears away many misconceptions between leadership and management. Additionally, as ethics and integrity directly impact an organization's level of risk these traits are a common theme throughout his book. I highly recommend Cybersecurity Leadership for anyone functioning in a leadership role.
Mansur is the Peter Drucker of Cyber Security
Would you listen to Cybersecurity Leadership again? Why?
After many years in various executive roles ranging from CIO, CISO and Board Advisor I was absolutely impressed with the executive guidance and thought leadership of Mansur Hasib.

Great read for a new leader trying to get ahead!
The best leadership book I have read thus far! If I could rate this 10 stars, I would!
Solid for newbie leaders or vets
Picked this up on sale. I was interested in it both for my own leadership development but also to get a sense of the challenges or recommendations that are being given to new leaders who are Millennials. Its a good book, worth listening to. The book isnt meant to get in depth on every leadership topic but it does do a good job of touching on the key areas at the surface level. Importantly, she explicitly lets you know where to get more information should want you want more detail. In fact, at the beginning of the book, she lists the top 15 or so business/leadership books of all time (in her opinion) and she makes reference to these books or concepts throughout. I found this very helpful.
I would recommend for new leaders and more seasoned alike.
    Great book
Very insightful , easy listen , great strategies to improve my leadership. I highly recommend this book.

    Publisher's Summary:
Plenty of research has been done on why companies go terribly wrong, but what makes companies go spectacularly right? That's the question Kim Cameron asked more than a decade ago. Since then Cameron and his colleagues have uncovered the principles and practices that set extraordinarily effective organizations apart from the merely successful.
In his previous book, Positive Leadership, Cameron identified four strategies that enable these organizations and the individuals within them to flourish: creating a positive climate, positive relationships, positive communication, and positive meaning. Here he lays out specific tactics for implementing them. These are not feel-good nostrums--study after study (some cited in this book) have proven positive leadership delivers breakthrough bottom-line results. Thanks to Cameron's concise how-to guide, now any organization can be "positively deviant," achieving outcomes that far surpass the norm.

    Five Stars
    Thank you!
    Excellent tool for the organization
Practicing Positive Leadership was an excellent read. Each Chapter provides several specific tools and techniques that help create positive energy that can be used throughout the organization. Positive leadership doesn't just mean constant smiling and being kind to other employees. There are times when positive leaders must deliver bad news or even take on difficult situations. This book essentially guides the reader through dealing with those difficult situations without losing their positive credibility. The book works as a guide to good management and helps those who donât know, how to get things done. I found Chapter 4 to be the most helpful to my current job role. It talks about how to give negative feedback positively. I find this to be a crucial part in the success of a business. Things donât always go as planned and there are times when you canât always be the good one. The key is to effectively convey your point, without losing your positive credibility. Delivering the message you need to get across without shutting down the person you are talking to. It is easy for many to remember the good more than the bad. The book lays out three steps to communication that helps keep the organization running smoothly. The steps are helpful and are a good guideline to effective communication. Chapter 5 was also another chapter I found myself being able to relate to. The chapter speaks on establishing and achieving Everest goals. There has been lots of research done to support that having goals motivates individuals and organizations to achieve higher performance than if they had no goals. Everest goals focus on opportunities, possibilities, and potential. Every organization and individual should have some of their own. Basically, a helpful tool to keep employees motivated is goal setting. Whether the goal be an Everest goal or a general goal, they both help in motivating for the better.
