    Waiting for a change
Great idea, Really enjoyed the reading of it. But we never found out anything about her children, how they were and ultimately Maudie never changed. All of the experiences should have done something to her, otherwise whats the point. Disappointed in the end of it. Could have been so much better and meant something.
    Superb!
Wonderful characterisation of a respectable buttoned-up Glasgow housewife of the 5os. Jacqueline King's narration is outstanding, she absolutely nails Maudie's primness, as well as doing the Scottish, Yorkshire and American accents perfectly.
At first I didn't like it, but...
I found Maudie Tipstaff a very annoying character, but as the book went on, I began to see things a bit more through her eyes. It was a 3part book, and throughout each interaction of characters, the world of Maudie Tipstaff expanded.
It was a satisfying book because it was so character-driven, filled with unusual situations and people.
a good lesson in cause and effect
Great book about a rigid women and the effect she has on all who surround her, easy to listen to, kept me interested all the way through, very good narration.
    mad maudie
This is not a charming sweet old lady, but we do come to understand her. We get to know her as she travels to see her children and what she learns about herself as she interacts with them. Jacqueline King does a wonderful job reading, bringing a lot of warmth to Maudie and the characters. The story moves along well and makes for an entertaining listen.

    wast of time
I liked Lolly Winston's first book, but this is whiny sing-songy drivel like so many other chic lit books. The narration is terrible.
    Disappointing
I was pretty bored throughout this book. I'd like to see what other listeners thought.

    Really good book
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would, it was a good story anyway but well read in what seemed an appropriate accent for the area which is always a nice touch. I was immersed in the story during my daily train journeys and they sped by.
What did you like best about this story?
What, to me, was a slight twist in the story as I missed a name at the very beginning - unless this was deliberate but it meant I wasn't expecting certain occurences so it had plenty of all emotions throughout.
Which character as performed by Kate Igoe was your favourite?
    Jenny
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh and cry and at some points even get angry with the characters as if I were there!

    Publisher's Summary:
Hannah Gavener is 14 in the summer of 1991. In the magazines she reads, celebrities plan elaborate weddings; in Hannah's own life, her parents' marriage is crumbling. And somewhere in between these two extremes, just maybe, lie the answers to love's most bewildering questions. But over the next decade and a half, as she moves from Philadelphia to Boston to Albuquerque, Hannah finds that the questions become more rather than less complicated: At what point can you no longer blame your adult failures on your messed-up childhood? Is settling for someone who's not your soul mate an act of maturity or an admission of defeat? And if you move to another state for a guy who might not love you back, are you being plucky, or just pathetic?
None of the relationships in Hannah's life are without complications. There's her father, whose stubbornness Hannah realizes she's unfortunately inherited; her gorgeous cousin, Fig, whose misbehavior alternately intrigues and irritates Hannah; Henry, whom Hannah first falls for in college, while he's dating Fig; and the boyfriends who love her more or less than she deserves, who adore her or break her heart. By the time she's in her late twenties, Hannah has finally figured out what she wants most, but she doesn't yet know whether she'll find the courage to go after it.
Full of honesty and humor, The Man of My Dreams is an unnervingly insightful and beautifully written examination of the outside forces and personal choices that make us who we are.

Long and drawn out with no climax
I don't really have a lot to say about this book except that it didn't meet my expectations after reading Prep from the same author, which I thought was much more entertaining.
Aside from that, I have never heard a New Zealand accent butchered so badly in my life. I literally cringed every time Anne Heche attempted it. I can't believe the author approved that mess.

A great tale of 3 generations
This well-read story is the tale of 3 generations of women. Written with today's issues at the core, each woman tells her story from the media that relects her age.
A story of new love, lost love and found love, this book is a good time.
    Sweet suprise
What a great story about mother-daughter relationships. I really enjoyed all of the characters (grandmother, mother, daughter, all their boyfriends.) The author captured the messy family, good and bad, sadness and new love. This is what some would call a "sleeper" but I enjoyed it!
    A Delight
I have started to purchase this book several times over the last year or so, but something else would always some along, that I would choose instead. Well, last month it was on sale, so I thought, now is the time. I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed the book. If you are a mother wife or daughter, or espically all three, you will love this book. Don't wait like I did, get this book, you will be glade you did.
    VIew from every age
This was a wonderful book to listen to. It was a view of life from every age as I listened to a teenager, her mother and grandmother. What fun to hear the differences and remember those years. Can't imagine any one not liking this one.
    Painful
Average story, but painfully read by three different readers/actors. The mix of readers did not work well, and it turned what might have been a light, predictable story into one painfully long and irritating.

This is a stunningly good novel about the deep Deep South and its vast and remarkable
Characters. The relationships, character development, small town coincidences, and plot

    Great book
A great book, the story gripped me right from the start, couldn't put it down. Excellent narration & characters. Loved it.
    Disappointing
The title grabbed me, it sounded like it would be a good read, unfortunately the narrator was unable to deliver in a manner that was required to make this as enjoyable as the story line would have allowed. It could have been quite humorous in parts but it wasn't delivered.

    A Nice Surprise!
I was really surprised by this book. I wasn't expecting much, but got a story that turned out interesting and enjoyable. The narrator was better than expected which made the story even more enjoyable. Zach and Kaitlin were at odds over her architectural design for one of his buildings, not to mention Kaitlin being left 1/2 of his empire in his grandmothers will made for good story telling. The sub story was a surprise as well the romance between Kaitlin's best friend and Zach's best friend added additional spicy-ness to the story. Pretty decent story. :)

    A Lighthearted and Enjoyable Book
After two years away Marnie has returned to London, she is always the life and soul and her friends welcome her back knowing she will embrace life and bring an air of excitement to their lives which have been devolving into boredom and sadness.
Helen has lost a lot of weight but has also become filled with anxiety and barely leaves home, especially as she managed to find a job working from home. Sheâs never had a boyfriend and has spent years pining over the same person.
Rosa is newly divorced, still works in the same office as her ex and his intern fling, and hasnât dated anyone since her life blew up.
Ani is a divorce lawyer who has become jaded by her job, she has been on more dates than sheâs had hot dinners and doesnât believe that there is anyone out there for her.
When Marnie suggests they set each other up with one of their exes, the others go into the project reluctantly but Marnie is so enthusiastic that they donât have the heart to refuse her.
The book is mainly told from the perspective of the three friends with the occasional update from Marnieâs point of view. Itâs really interesting seeing how their story arcâs unfold how these women in their early thirties deal with the dating game, especially when friends exes are involved, and how they deal with seeing their exes dating their friends.
I especially connected with Helen, being a fellow geeky girl and someone who struggles with mental health and weight issues, I found her easy to relate to and could understand why she has made some of the mistakes she had made.
I found this a light-hearted and enjoyable book with some strong messages about friendship tied in. This will be a great poolside or garden read for the end of summer or to be read by the fire as autumn closes in.
Thank you very much to Eva Woods and HQ for a copy of the novel via NetGalley to review this book honestly for the blog tour.
A fantastic, light-hearted and funny read!
Fast rising womenâs fiction star Eva Woods has done it again! After her sensational debut published last year, The Thirty List, Eva is back with a sassy, hilarious and addictive novel you will not be able to resist â The Ex Factor!
The dating scene is a jungle full of liars, weirdos and oddballs who still have a penchant for superheroes and live with their mother â and nobody knows this better than Marnie, Helen, Rosa and Ani.

What begins as a private account of expenses rapidly becomes, through Katya's chronic delusions of grandeur, a matter of public record: first as a tawdry gossip column, then as a salacious book, and finally as a Hollywood B-movie.
    Members Reviews:
surprisingly enjoyable, but not worth keeping....
I liked this book. I enjoyed hating the narrator and I loved the ways in which she got her come-uppance over and over again, and never seemed to learn from it. Adele Lang managed something interesting by keeping Katya in character throughout the entire book. It was refreshing to read a book that did not have a predictable ending, and where the bad guys were not redeemed.
On the other hand, this book is a one-trick pony. There is exactly one thing going on in it, and if it had been even one page longer, I expect I would have gotten tired of it. Moreover, I found I had no desire ever to read it again. Since I was in Manila when I read it, I declined to offer it space in my suitcase on the way home.
If you like this kind of thing, then you will like this book. It's done extremely well here. However, it's all taste and no substance. Which may be the point, I suppose. Still, I was ultimately disappointed.
HORRIBLE! A total waste of time & money
Ugh! I read the whole thing because I kept thinking that there just had to be something redeeming about the book at some point to make it worthwhile. Unfortunately it went nowhere. There is no coherent plot, and the character, Katya, never becomes human in the sense that she never at any point gains any depth greater than the depth (or lack thereof) that she exhibits in her first few entries. She is utterly shallow not just in her values, which are meant to be catty and amusing, but also in the lack of an explanation to help us understand why Katya is as she is. As such I found it impossible to feel attached to her or to the action of the book. As I said, I kept reading waiting for some sort of epiphany which never came. I'm sure it was fun to write, but without a relatable character or a plot, it was a waste to read.
    Meh, it's ok.
This book is fun (at first), full of quick wit and an insight I certainly am not used to. Then it's just sad as you realize she is a lonely judgmental b****!
    Great book
Better then the movie. As a guy reading this book I wish I could find a woman like this, My Ex, well she didn't agree. >.<
Only because there's nothing lower than 1 star
This is one of the most [boring book] I ever tried to read. I couldn't take any more than the first 25 pages. I would like to set it on fire...that would be about the only thing that would make this nasty little piece of work interesting. I regret spending any money on this book. It's not good enough to give away...they should pay people to take it.
