Holy Alien Hotness

After reading the YA series Lux, I had no idea the author was writing a more adult spin-off book set in the same timeline/world as Lux. I never cared for the Arum in that series but I did enjoy Hunter. And Holy Alien Hotness Ms. Armentrout gave him his own book. He was so cocky, ruthless and deadly but he had a soft side and it was smoking hot.

If you liked the Lux series, chances are you will like this one too. However, its a stand alone listen so you dont have to read the Lux books to understand Obsession. My only complaint was with the narration, it should have been read by a male for the dual POV. I had a hard time distinguishing who was speaking at times (the narrator did a poor job with it). Otherwise, the story and writing were outstanding!

OH MY..... MY, MY, MY YUM!

Who could have thought aliens could be this intense! Jennifer Armentrout has my vote with this book!

The basic of the book is Earth has more than just human inhabitants, the government knows this but the people don't! Serena (lead female) discovers the existence of these other races when she happens to watch her best friend murdered in an unnatural way. When she runs to the cops to report this, like any normal human would, she finds herself placed in the safety of one of these aliens. In comes in Hunter (lead hero), of the Arum race. The best words I have to describe him is cold, scary & sexy .

As the two are forced to stick by each other, a bond is formed. This is despite the fact that Hunter almost lost control of himself and 'ate' Serena not once but TWICE! There is a lot of story telling in this book, both Serena & Hunter piece together what is happening in the world as Hunter does what he does best and protects Serena and on the other hand Serena does what she can as a human and wiggles her way into Hunter's soul. She becomes his light when all he has ever known is darkness.

The book has very interesting characters... I will give away this wee bit of info: Hunter has brothers! who, well, I look forward to seeing how much trouble they can cause....

I like Alexandra's narration but I think they book would have been a lot more entertaining with a dual narration.

Overall I think this is book worth a credit, even better if there is a sale!

Narration jeopardised the experience

this book kept me interested the entire time it wasn't boring or annoying it was fresh and kept me interested

Surprisingly good

When I first listened I thought "uh oh, another dud" but thankfully I have a personal deal to give every book 1 chapter or 10 pages, whichever is longer. This book then hooked me and had some fun twists. Ending is harsh!! Gotta get second in series :)

A book with no common sense.

It made me confused. I just find it hard to believe that a young adult would make every bad choice they could that often. Its like sticking your hand in the fire and then wonder why you got burnt.

The book started out fine the turned into a book with no common sense. Or maybe I am wrong, but the main protagonist just spends the hole book making all of the wrong decisions.

I just don't think a 18 year old would be acting like a 8 year old. Not to mention the book is highly predictable. I new what was going to happen way before it happened. The book played like a bad horror movie.

Good story, but just okay narration

I like the story. It was a little different twist on the supernatural tale/love story. The story could have been a little more developed. The book feels unfinished because of the cliffhanger you will see coming.

I almost didn't listen beyond the first chapter because the narrator just wasn't good. Her male characters were just awful and her southern accent sounded like something from a cartoon.

Misleading and disappointment

The book's cover and title makes you think that this is a historical romance. The blurb also mention the sexy highlander. Well the sexy highlander is a character that is barely mentioned. This is NOT a historical romance. If you think this is even close to Outlander you'll be sadly disappointed. The time travel theme is poorly mentioned. And this is basically a contemporary mystery. I listened about 60% of the story (about 5 hours) and our hero and heroine had 0 chemistry. Not one kiss, barely any flirting or inclination that a romance will develop. This is just a mistery about how an 18th century highlander ended in in Piper's home (heroine's BFF). I kept listening to see if it would get better but no, every minute I Was more and more disappointed. It was a waste of time and money.

One reviewer said "TOO QUICK PROGRESSION TO SEX." I'm at 55% and there has not even been a kiss, no thoughts of sex, no desire, no wanting from either of them, no sexual tension. If there's sex in this book it's gotta be near the end and that makes it's gratuitous sex and that's the worse kind there is, no sex, no nothing then WHAM there it is.. AND the reviewer said "Maybe both of those questions will be answered in the follow up." Umm, NO.

I should have paid attention. This is a cliffhanger and I absolutely hate when an author tries to force me to read book after book to finally get to a solution. I'm glad I found out before I read the whole book. I'm done. Sorry..

As to the narrator: Ms. Dawe just keeps getting better and better. For as much as I listened to she did a great job.

Worst narration I ever encountered

Ive listened to hundreds of books, with some fantastic narration and some not so great. But never have I gotten one as rotten as this one. Maybe someone should help the narrator grasp the basics of respecting the texts punctuation and telling her that breathing is allowed while reading it. Returning the book.

I felt that the story mimicked another book I've read and narrator was terrible. I almost stopped listening because of the narrator.

A different take on time travel

This is a fun book which begins with the inheritance of a castle in Scotland. The girl that inherits the castle also inherits a time traveling prisoner and calls her best friend to come to Scotland to help her deal with the situation. Their adventures include trips to the past and some love interests and conclude with a happy ending.

Olly is a Masterpiece of Erotic Seduction and Emotion

There are very few times in my life that I have picked up an Erotic Romance to read that left me in tears, Olly was one of them. Emotion drips from every page of this book, and gives, in my opinion, a true definition of what Erotic Romance should be. With Olly, we follow the life of a woman who glances back at her life and the relationships that developed in them. There is an HEA, but the painful road it takes to finally reach it is so emotionally heartbreaking that it leaves you yearning to take away the main characters pain. I felt every emotion so deeply as the author weaved this tale.

What Olly managed to do was deliver an incredible erotic read, while not leaving out the one thing that all romance should focus on having, love. For anyone that has loved and lost, this book will resonate. The lessons of life, love, and acceptance that is found in Olly could be a lesson to all lovers. I was, and still am, blown away by this book!

Wonderful Story!

This story brought out so many different emotions. It was sexy, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and the list goes on.I was very moved by this one. I think I cried the last 25 % of it. Love can conquer all when given a chance. I hope to see more by this author. Buy this book you won't be sorry.

Dark, intriguing, sensual and emotional

Olly is a romantic, erotic tale of a woman who doesnât quite realize sheâs searching for love. The RIGHT way to do Erotic Romance

I have to say that erotic romances are easy to cheapen and over do. Some feel that it is a necessary need to go overboard with details and sensations turning the potential for a good erotic into a paper version of a porn.

This author didn't do that, and that's why I love this novella. It has enough details and sensations to let the imagination remain in control. Then the author weaves in a sweet story line that makes you keep guessing until the very end.

Great from the Beginning to the End

If you could sum up Into Darkness in three words, what would they be?

Gripping, Heart-wrenching, Unputdownable

What did you like best about this story?

I was engrossed in this story from the beginning. I loved the way it began because Lumina's character drew me in to the point that I lost sleep. Her life was so dark in comparison to her name and ability.

What about Jill Redfields performance did you like?

Jill added depth to this story. Every character was performed with clarity. Her skillful voice kept me captivated throughout her narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If it wasn't for the fact that I had to be productive the next day I would have listened to this book in one sitting. I didn't want to let it go.

Any additional comments?

Knowing that this was the last book in this series I expected things to be reconciled, but the fun was in how it was done. There wasn't a lull in this story at any time. It all built to one explosive ending. Still, there was just enough story left afterwards to feed my imagination so the characters could live on in the HEA land in my mind.

you need to read the other book... yeah u can read this one on your own but is SOOOOO much better w reading in order w the other. what a roller coaster! this is as good as the renegade angel series! awesome! as Becket says....

Left open for another installment, need to resolve the human vs Icati "feud" and unite the people as one. Magnus needed a little more depth of character, but it worked OK.

Could have been better

The story is told in 1st person. She, Khara, is very one dimensional. Her mantra is if she has to die she is ready. It would be something if she could go down fighting but she can't. She does not even have a sense of humor.

She is the daughter of Aries, who does not know she is alive and would kill her if he knew. Hermes is her guardian and she calls him father. She is the only female child of Aries and has no fighting skills. For some reason she is thrown from the Underworld and arrives in Detroit.

Being a Detroiter, I was offended with it being depicted as a cesspool for supernatural. But I got over that one. It is a supernatural/fantasy novel. The places mentioned are real places in the city which are abandon and perfect for the supernatural to hang out.

The story would be more interesting if it was about the brothers. Her brothers are the "police" of the supernatural beings in Detroit. She becomes an albatross for them to protect. I guess crime is down because for the 8 hours and 17 min they do nothing but keep her alive.

Of course there is the moody male character whom Khara despises right off the bat. Of course that is a recipe for the hate/love romance. Fortunately we are spared that scenario, but we do have those close moments.

The pertinent questions of her situation are never answered. Outside of her sprouting wings and killing 2 people, she adds nothing to the story. After 8 hours and 17 min. you still have no answers to the questions.

I only gave it 3 stars because I liked her brothers and their unique fighting skills. Aries "beds" various types of women to produce kids with unique skill sets. If you are looking for a strong kick ass female, this is not the one.

Very Bad

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The narrator was excellent with good voice characterization. The story had some good ideas that would have been much better developed if there was a co-writer.

What was most disappointing about Amber Lynn Natuschs story?

The main character was as interesting as a log rotting in a bog. The poor logic and plot development made absolutely no sense. Preposterous character behavior made me frequently wince.

What about Angela Dawes performance did you like?

One of the best female narrators with a pleasant presentation.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Unborn?

Almost everything that made no sense.

At long last the story of Laev T'Hawthorne!

Laev T'Hawthorne has become the head of his house, now a widower, as a young man he married the wrong woman against all the advice of his family. Nivea stole, valuable articles from his family and cheated on him and worst thing of all she hid his heart gift, so that he would not have it to give to his true mate. Laev's story was so unhappy, when he appeared in earlier books; while still a teen he had accidentally stabbed the wife of the D'Holly family with a poisoned knife, during a feud with the Holly's and then he was tricked into marriage with Nivea Sunflower, who only wanted him for his money. I often wondered what his story would be like.

After all the disappointment he has caused his family Laev feels that he has a lot to make up to the Hawthorne's, he won't look for his heart-mate and he will never marry again. But in order to make restitution to his family he will find the articles that Nivea stole and sold or gave away and he will find his heart gift because it's important to him.

This was a wonderful story, Camellia Darjeeling his heart-mate has had a tough life, she was only a teen when she realized that Laev was her heart-mate and realized that Nivea had tricked him into marriage. She immediately trained her senses to forget him, she would not have dreams of a married man. And she didn't trust any man, after coming up in an abusive home and knowing her father only contacted her now when he wanted gilt, along with her uncle, she would never trust any man to care for her. Camellia had opened her own business a tearoom and based on the success of her first venture, she has opened a second room based on the tradition of the HouseHeart and its a instant success.

I love visiting old friends in Celta and this is the first book of the next generation, it's wonderful to hear about old friends. A wonderful story, can't wait for the next one.

Wonderful addition to the great Celta series

Heart Search by Robin Owens is the 10th book in her Celta series. This book belongs to Laev T'Hawthorn and Camiella Darjeeling, who have spent years not accepting the bond of Heartmates, that they were to each other. Instead, both were victims to the bad people that have effected their lives.

In Laev's case, he make a mistake many years ago, when he was only 17 years old, by choosing a woman, whom he desired sexually. But she was not his true heartmate. Great Series!

This is a great book; this is the fifth book in the Jade Calhoun Series written by Deanna Chase and narrated by Traci Odom. It was very easy to listen to and I didnt want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Demon Hunters

This review is for both the audiobook and the ebook since I read/listened to both. First I would like to say that a lot of reviews stated Jade had an emerald ring and this book said diamond. I was thinking it was an emerald with diamonds all around it. Anyway, moving on, in the last book it seemed like things were beginning to be repetitive. Well, hang in there because this book is totally different than the others. There was so much going on that at some points I had to pause and reread or listen. Don't get me wrong, you can still follow the story fine. I had the feeling that the wedding would be interrupted. It really bothered me then I thought how the high angels were all about themselves and their timing so I went along with it. I really liked the scene of the other realm where Matisse was stuck. It was so creepy. Kane has a new initiation into a group he really has no say so to join. That sort of bothered me but I knew Jade would understand because he always drops everything for her. I really liked the group. I won't say more due to some spoilers. I really missed Mary in this book. We didn't see her or Pyper like in the others. It's ok though because there was so much focus on the story it was perfect. We get to see Lucian's black heart Curse get taken care of and the source from where it came. I just love him and Kat together.

Dislike!! This book frustrated me. The main character Emerson is so irritating and there are gaps in the story.

I enjoyed the overall story, but . . . . .

The story was enjoyable in general, but I probably won't be buying the second book. The writing, while not bad, was very juvenile, as were the emotions of the characters. I do understand that they were all juveniles, but it was a bit ridiculous. The story also came to no resolution, and apparently will be continued in the second volume. This is a no-no in my estimation. If authors want to continue a series with additional adventures using the same characters, that is great, but each book should be complete in itself. That does not happen here, so be prepared to buy all three books to actually finish the one.

Juvenile beyond belief. Run away.

The world is on the edge of destruction, billions of lives balance on the edge of a razor, somebody kisses someone and makes someone else mad. But let's focus on the kiss, because that's what is important under these circumstances. When I find myself wishing that ALL of the main character die, it's time to stop listening and ask for a refund. This is the worst and most inane story I have ever heard. Time to get my money back.

Enticing

I am a 23 year old romance reader who likes a little bit of mystery, and a whole lot of love. Now, with that said, I started this book and thought that I would not be able to finish.. as it centers around high school age students and it isnt as relatable and there for not as exciting... boy was I wrong! This story had me begging for more. I have to get the rest of the series. I have to know what happens. The words drew me in, and the storyline kept me entertained. Im in love with the characters, and can not wait to know what happens next.
