Story was good because the series is good

Dark Soul did go dark, but not where I thought it would. I was hoping for a more streamline interactions with Forest. I wanted to see Forrest struggle a little more with the moral components of her new job. With that said, the story that was crafted nicely. Especially the Bale/Netrit relationship. That was a surprising way to include Bale, who was horrible and I am glad he got his due in the end. I disliked that man very much, but strong feelings towards a character means a good story. The people of the fair and Cyruss appearances made my heart warm and that cliffhanger OMG Tenaya Jayne you are driving me crazy, but I guess it is alright and a smart thing to do. Over all I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the nice one.

Forest is just a wonderful character in these books, I just couldn't put them down!

The best narration of the series yet! The story is amazing in print, and read well here too. The flow of this particular story itself allows it to translate well to reading, whereas, if we're honest, some books can't. I recommend!

Mr. Bliss' performance is the saving grace for TLP

Had David Benjamin Bliss not done such a great job of making this very predictable story engaging, I would have stopped listening within the first few hours. The story is totally devoid of originality, though that alone would not have turned me off. It also, contains so many clichés and inconsistencies, not to mentions the glaring changes in personality the main character displays throughout the story, makes it difficult to listen to the end. It was only DBB's characterizations that got me through. Also, all the characters in the book seemed to be of the European variety and only humanoid (not to mention being very male oriented, there is a grand total of three female characters, four if you count the second-in-command's wife who is referred to on several occasions, but never seen). Now, I am not advocating for alien species or all female navy contingents, it's just that I am not really sure how this can happen in such a vast empire. Somewhere there has to be many more women and people of color. And I doubt that they would be completely like us. I also take issue with Commander Jonathan Radecs (the main protagonist) super human status. I mean really, he can't out smart everyone and win every battle, its gets boring after a while. And OMG, if you mention one more time that Radec is tall, blond, handsome, strong cheekbones, an amazing physical appearance, and on top of that dressed in his crisp white navy uniform, I think I will scream. He is (literally) the White Knight of the story, Ok, we got it Mr. Disney. The story as a whole, like I said, is predictable, but that wont stop me from listening to the next two in the series, I just hope that the author (Mike Smith) ups his game.

Last Praetorian review

After listening to Mike Smiths The Last Praetorian he and narrator David Benjamin Bliss are a new favorite team, for me. This is a great book that draws you in and doesnt let you go.

Good but too much sexuality

Entertaining story. talented narrator. But god, the amount of horny bullshit in this book is like it was written by a particularly talented high school kid. Characters are constantly staring at each other's asses.

Same as written

This is one of my favorite Titan books. I love Lexie AKA Silver. And Parker, what can I say, he is hot, smart, hot, secretive , deadly, and did I mention hot. Cyber genius, silver has a whole other world she lives in besides the one with her abusive boyfriend. She finally escapes from him. Has she she moved into worse danger.

Terrorists, the US gov. What else is in store?

Black Dawn

I've enjoyed all the Titan books so far, but this one really hit home with me, as I had a very similar experience of my own to Lexi's ordeal with Matt. The story revived a lot of memories. My only quibble is how quickly Lexi got over her abuse, but I guess that's par for the course in romance books.

Black Dawn

Black Dawn is book 8 in the Titan series by Cristin Harber. I love every book in this series. It is impossible to pick a favorite. There was a lot of drama, action, suspense, and romance. I love Parker and Lexi. Both grew up in foster care but found a family in each other. HEA and no cliffhanger.

Narration by Jeffrey Kafer was great.

Parker Black is more than meets the eye!

From the start of The Titan Series, I have been in intrigued by Parker Black. He is The Titan Group "Go-To" for all things technology. He can hack into almost anything and has amazing abilities to save the day from the confinds of his computer. I was more than delighted to learn more about Parker Black in Black Dawn. It was fantastic to see the man come out from behind his keyboard and show what he is really made of.

Lexi Dare has two distinct sides to her; professional and personal. Though she is among the best in her field professionally, her personal life is turning her into a shell of the woman she used to be. She is fighting to free herself from the control of a domineering, abusive man.

When her professional life collides with danger, Lexi has to trust her instincts. She attempts to hide in plain site and be untraceable, but even she can't run from Parker Black.

Cristen Harber took a different turn with this story. Though she still infused Black Dawn with suspense and combustible chemistry, there was so much more to the storyline. I devoured this book as I burned through the pages to find out what would happen next.

PS- Jeffrey Kafer does an amazing job of narrating this story. His performance only enhances Cristin's work. His ability to make the characters come to life continued to keep me hooked on this book!

My Favorite Titan Book to Date

This is my favorite Titan book to date and I've enjoyed all of them. The characters are well-written and have depth.

Hard to follow

Maybe it's because I don't read this type of book often, but it felt like there was too much going on- too many creatures/powers/names, too little explanation. It made things hard to follow.

The voicer was pleasant to listen to but it was also hard for me to differentiate between when the characters were thinking silently vs when they were speaking.

starts slow, no traction

I found a few positive reviews abs had heard a recommendation elsewhere, so I was willing to give it a shot, but this one fell flat. I love urban fantasy, but most of the grit and wonder that contrast each other to make the genre so engaging were buried or too understated here. I had so much trouble engaging the story, I had to keep rewinding because I'd realize three chapters had gone by and I had been ignoring the story the whole time.

Someone loves their thesaurus!

What disappointed you about Trailer Park Fae?

The books is filled with soooo much minutia!!! It makes it very taxing to listen to. I am a big fan of this genre and thought it would be in my wheel house, but it was too much. I couldn't even finish the book and I've only had that happen a very few times. Way..way...way too many adjectives use for everything. "She nipped down the alley and pressed her flesh against the weeping bricks". What the hell is that? Half of his book is unneeded descriptive detail and if it where cut out it might a good book at that point. I guess we'll never know.

I couldn't continue

Okay, the genre, love it. The author's world, love it. But I kept yelling at the inside of my car "Oh come on, Daisy's dead! Move on!" Not to be insensitive to tragedy, but Gallow's mortals wife being dead is a defining characteristic, and it got old. Plus Summer being THAT capricious after centuries... ?

Fantastic!

A very original and exciting story. Exceptionally well written with beautiful prose! The story itself was intriguing from the start and constantly kept me wandering. Truly well narrated, too. I would definitely listen to another audiobook by this actor.
