A different kind of monster story
I have other Shawn Thomas Odysseus books. I enjoyed his narration, even when the main character is a young girl. I am happy with this story. The characters start out investigating the secret the supervisor of their group home has. One has mischief in mind. The group naturally get into trouble. It was enjoyable following them trying to get out of trouble. This is a good book for young and young at heart.

I love this book and have read it lots of times. The story is good. It is about werecats and other shapeshifters living in the hot state of Texas. The plot is good and interesting to me. I hope to see more of this author's work in the near future.

    better than the first book!
this was very enjoyable to listen to. I found myself unable to put it down. the narration was great and the story line was much improved from the first book!
    Excellent 2nd book
Second books tend to be bridges between 1 and 3 leaving a feeling of lost story depth. This is a rare exception.

    Great adventure and more!
What did you love best about Wings of Memory?
I loved the mixture of romance and botanical lessons and history. It fit in so well into the background. AND of course the Magic is a great part of it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Kiernan was my favorite character. He has such a mixture of personalities. Stormy, kind, and gentle. Trying so hard to control his temper.
What about Meghan Lewiss performance did you like?
Meghan Lewis's performance was excellent bringing each character to live and with personality and holding those personalities throughout the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to it all in one sitting excet I had to put it down to eat dinner. While cooking I had it going so I did not have to wait long to see what was going to happen next or how they were going to resolve the next problem.
    Any additional comments?

    What a great adventure...
What a great adventure this book and this series is turning out to be, A great family read and perfect for teens and preteens as it is a clean read. In book 1, we met Avery, Keirnan and Wish as Fae (fairies) and an American girl named Megan. We were introduced to both the Dark and the Light Fae. I was pleased to see the same characters continued on with their adventures into book 2! I really like these characters, though I hate their father. If there ever was a character people love to hate, their father would be the one to hate.
In this book (book 2), we get to travel to Costa Rica in the jungles. I love how the animals fit into this story too. This entire series so far has been fun. The author, Anna Kyss does a great job with our imaginations. I can actually see places and things as the story is read to me. This author is quite creative too. The narrator, Meghan Lewis delivers another flawless read to us complete with accents and emotions. I have to say, I find the narrators voice and reading style perfect for this series! Kudos to both of them for such great entertainment. I feel I envision a lot more in my heard by hearing the audio book rather than reading it myself as I am not as creative.

    Great underlying messages
OTHERSPHERE by Nina Berry is a stellar conclusion to one of the handful of paranormal romance trilogies I've read lately. I'll be honest, paranormal romance has most worn out its welcome for me, but the Otherkin series is one of the (very few) exceptions I will make.
I love this series. LOVE IT. I'll admit, I have a thing for shape-shifters, and no shape-shifting series has quite grabbed me like this one has - not since I finished the Tiger's Curse series by Colleen Houck almost two years ago. (Wow, has it really be that long?) You may be noticing a trend here. Shape-shifting. Tigers... Hmm, apparently there is a reason why, if I loved Tiger's Curse so much, that I would also love this series about - you guessed it - a tiger shape-shifting teen named Desdemona ("Dez").
    The Pros:
    - A strong cast of characters. Dez starts off as a misfit teen with a back-brace in book one, but she finishes up the series the strongest of all the characters. Each character has their own personality (based on their animal shifting abilities) and their individual background stories become as much a part of the story as Dez's. There is not a stronger group of mismatched friends in any YA series ou there. Warning: your heart will be broken more than once.
    - Great underlying messages. At the front is the message of self-esteem and self-confidence. Watching Dez overcome her weaknesses as well as her ability to unite people from different backgrounds should be applauded. Then there is the environmental message, which is largely addressed in book three. A unique plot point about endangered species speak loud and clear, as well as gives a Narnia-esque feel to the final battle. It is epic and will make event the most jaded "non-environmentalist" think. Also touched apon are messages on religion and sexuality. With so many messages in one series, you may worry that the author is over-preaching on her beliefs, but really, the topics included in these books only make the story stronger. I never once thought that the author was "preaching" rather than telling a very important story - with magic and animals...
    - The school. The Othersphere. The science elements combined with a magical world... This story was so well-structured. I love it when even the magic is so perfectly explained. And mixing science with magic? Guys, you will have to read it to believe it, because I know it's impossible otherwise.
    - The pacing of this novel is spot-on. Just like with Othermoon, OTHERSPHERE dives right into the story, with some recapping interwoven with the forward movement of the plot.

Welcome to the finale of The FINS Trilogy.

Forever: the Final Book of the Fins Trilogy
Loyal readers admire a well-crafted trilogy. Themes and storylines are enduring. Protagonists are tested, time and again, and interesting new characters and sometimes villains keep showing up. A trilogy is the sign of a serious reader, one with commitment to follow an author's cause.
Such is the case of Ashley Knight'sForever, which is Book III of her Fins Trilogy.
This reader started with herFins - Book I of the Fins Trilogy, and as noted in my review of that debut novel, it was not my normal genre of choice. The overall topic of mermaids and merpeople was personally fascinating from a mythological perspective with a personal beginning with the roots of the early folklore. But there had been something compelling about the author's story of Morgan and Thayde, which had begun on Central Florida's Treasure Coast in the first book of the trilogy. And in that fast paced young adult novel for fantasy readers, it was the author's well-crafted word and sentences that were so captivating.
Ms. Knight's subsequentFathom, or Book II of the Fins Trilogy, began with the unlikely setting of New York City, as Morgan and Thayde started their life together as students at Columbia University. Book II had a darker feel in the beginning, with Morgan's powers seeming to be taking a murky turn, and with Thayde seeming to surrender to an illness. But as in the first book, there were surprises where one would least expected them, where Ms. Knight would burst out with a sentence or a paragraph that would jolt the reader with how well she writes from the heart when in familiar territory.
As far as trilogies go, the third time is not necessarily a charm. As a highly prominent example of this, we can switch to film and look to the 1997 movie "Home Alone 3," where a good theme was overworked and made so poorly that it was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for "Worst Remake or Sequel."
Fortunately for us, Ashley Knight'sForeverdoesn't fall into that category. Book III opens with Morgan reading from a new entry in her diary as she embarks on the journey of her marriage to Thayde. They are spending their honeymoon in the Polynesian paradise of Moorea, where ostensibly nothing can go wrong. Both Morgan and Thayde are more mature than in the previous books, as we see adult passions expressed more realistically, yet artfully presented here. But things as seemingly simple as a tattoo and a past oath become the catalysts for a number of events that involve new characters and old one from the previous books.
Soon we are back in Florida's Vero Beach, at the location where Morgan's relationship with Thayde began, but it's a somber setting, with Morgan finding her young half-sister in a bad state. And despite Morgan being The Link, she may not be able to cure the problem.

    Publisher's Summary:
In this witty, adventurous sequel to Mothership, which Publishers Weekly called a whole lot of fun, Elvie Nara is back on earth - but her life (including her new baby) is still pretty out there!
Pregnancy was pretty rough for sixteen-year-old Elvie Nara, what with the morning sickness, constant food cravings, and the alien race war she found herself in the middle of. But if she thought giving birth to an extraterrestrials baby would be the hard part, she was sorely mistaken.
After Elvie somehow has a baby girl, the always-male Almiri completely wig out. Suddenly Elvies supposed allies have shipped her - along with her father, her best friend, Ducky, and her maybe-boyfriend, boneheaded Almiri commando Cole Archer - off to a remote retention facility (aka alien jail) in Antarctica. Talk about cold.
But things really get complicated when a new group of hybrid aliens arrive with information that sends Elvies world spinning. Before long, Elvie is trekking across the bottom of the Earth with a band of friends and frenemies to uncover the secrets of her own origin. Will Elvie ever be able to convince the Almiri that a conspiracy to conquer the planet is a greater threat than a sixteen-year-old girl and a newborn who wont stop crying?
    Members Reviews:
    An excellent sequel!
As part two of the "Ever Expanding Universe" series, this book does an excellent job starting where book one, Mothership, left off. There is no stretch of time between Mothership and A Stranger Thing. A nice touch with this series is the last chapter of the previous book is the first chapter of the next book, that way you get a brief refresher. This part of the series is full of suspense and dread. The entire second act is like walking on eggshells, just waiting for something to happen! Of the three books, this was the most addicting one to read.
Whereas Mothership gave you some answers to your questions, A Stranger Thing comes by and gives you the truth on many but sets up many, many more questions that aren't addressed till its own sequel, The World Forgot. As with the previous installment, the novel is well written, characters are expanded upon, and unlike Mothership, we get the first glimpse of an actual physical description of our protagonist, Elvie Nara. The first act is extremely heartwarming while the third and final act brings us to the end and sets up the plot for part three.
Funny at times, but shallow and with forced charactes and plot
I read the whole series. The only problem is the kill rate is too high for the comedy. A second rate author kills off too many people as they don't know how to write a plot or develop more than two characters.
Great sequal - can't wait for the next one!
I really enjoyed the first book, but this one is even better. The pacing of the story and the action is really great. Also, the main character grows so much and really comes into her own in this book. So many cool twists and turns, I can't wait for book number 3!!
    such a good read
OMG, I am still crying, this book's end is simply CLIFFHANGER.
At the beginning the characters where very annoying but as the story progresses they start to sound less crazy, I really recommend this books
    A pretty good sequel.
    Another brick in the wall
Clearly the author has gone to great lengths to present a full and complete story.

    Hmm
Well, I like the concept of this book, but it was filled to the brim with boring passages that couldn't capture me. After the halfway mark, I had to skip everything but dialogue and a couple of necessary paragraphs so I could finish as soon as possible. The book idea is good, and the characters are developed, but it was a bit too wordy for me.
    Classic, classic SF!
This is one of those old time SF stories. It has an utterly fabulous concept and fabulous world building. People use transporters to go anywhere, any time. They use duplicating machines to create food, clothing, heaters, transportation -- anything they want, any time. Naturally, there is a small problem with this. It all seems to work exactly as planned every time. But it doesn't. Quite. Which leads to a fine mystery, a grand old adventure story, and a race to stop evil. All of that is fabulous. And like old time SF, the book goes very light on how characters feel, which makes it hard to feel their anger, terror, determination and also to understand why the heroine swoons for first one guy, then another.
    Less is More
The bravura of the book propels it along, but one does wish the author resisted the temptation to pile on more twists and turns because there is a point where it stops being clever and interesting and just becomes a little annoying. No matter; it's a great cautionary tale of how all technology is hackable. Something to think about as we rush into our future of the internet of things and general purpose AI...
    Good read
After a bit of a slow start this story picked up and became a real page turner. It is set in the future where as a solution to all the pollution on Earth, a system of recycling and "fabbing" new clean items is the way things are done. The technology is essentially the replicator from Star Trek, plus a recycle feature to supply the raw atoms and molecules for new creations. Just as stuff is recreated, a different version called "DMat" moves people across the globe--takes them apart here and reproduces them there. The problem comes when what is advertised as "improvement" turns out to be more then a rumor. It is supposed to be impossible to alter a person's pattern, guaranteeing that the person produced is the same as the one who left. Claire discovers that it is possible and exposes the truth.

    Secrets!
I thought this story was written extremely well. The author, Matthew W. Grant kept me immersed in this story and he managed to keep the story flowing and that's always good. There's mystery, supernatural things, love, and much more throughout the entire story. You'll find yourself on the edge of your seat.
Luke Avery did an exceptional job bringing the story to life. I didn't have any trouble identifying the character who was speaking in the story. He brought this story to life and made it pretty scary. I absolutely loved this story and I highly recommend you give this one a listen. I've never heard of this author or narrator but they both did a great job. Overall, I give it 5 !

How are these nitwits going to build a new world?
I don't know what the blurb was talking about building a new world. These are 5 dumb boys, no girls. No building anything going on. Since they were kids, they've accepted Billy as their leader, but the thing is, he sucks at it. He is a dithering moralist, but may be just a peg above the IQ of the others, except Harley, he's cool. If you like screaming in your head at the stupid things the characters do, or how some things don't make sense, this book is for you. At one point, a zombie kills someone, only they don't know its a zombie yet. So its actually a murder scene. Billy feels so sad he doesn't just want to leave the body, but bring it back with them to town to the sheriff. I think the author and his fictional character must be the only two people in the world who think its ok to remove the dead body from a murder scene. But his group revolt and lay the smack down on him when he comes up with yet again another stupid idea later on; capturing a zombie (He _still_ doesn't know its a zombie)
I gave three stars, story is redeeming, its interesting and not bad. Very short! Hardly worth the $ if I didn't get it on sale. I invested in the second book. Story is alright. Narration is ok too, maybe better than, like almost 4 stars. Just one thing; whenever they argue, everyone gets this whiny exasperated voice like small children.
