I'm a huge Tanya Anne Crosby fan...I've read this story twice & enjoyed the audio that much more. It was short enough for me to listen to while decorating for Christmas. The best part of audio is that I don't "race" through the words to get to the story...they are all there to enjoy to the end. I highly recommend this audio version.

Great Story - Outstanding Performance!

What made the experience of listening to Once Upon A Highland Legend the most enjoyable?

I love listening to Scottish accents, and James Gillies did a fantastic job with that. Then to hear him speak the Gaelic words that I have no idea how to pronounce - well, I was totally entranced!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Once Upon A Highland Legend?

Several memorable moments in the story stand out, but there were two that really got me. The first one was Callum's declaration of his intent to marry Annie after their romantic interlude, and the second was when he decided that if Annie had to die then it would be by his hand.

What about James Gilliess performance did you like?

I liked everything about James Gillies's performance. I hadn't heard him before so I hoped his narration was good, but it was even better than expected. His ability to switch from British narration to American character to Scottish character, and then add in the Gaelic - he was just awesome! His emotional treatment of the characters and his pacing were most appropriate and kept me involved with the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The one moment that will stay with me is when Callum called Annie, "mo chroi." Knowing that it meant "my heart," it was good to read in the book but so much better hearing it spoken. I might have melted just a little bit, right then.

Once Upon A Highland Legend: Guardians of the Stone is such a good story, and even better when hearing it performed by James Gillies. I hope to hear more of his work, especially if that means I can hear his Scottish accent again!

I enjoyed this book. It was light hearted. with adventure and entertaining characters. Easy to follow.Graphic romance was minimal. It was more about the story and only nessasery romance. I will listen to this over and over.

I so wanted to like this book. Jo Beverley is a wonderful writer who captures my imagination and draws me seamlessly into her world. I love her attention to historical detail - when she describes an outfit, you can see it perfectly; her descriptions are so vivid. I just hated the heroine in this story. She whined incessantly about not wanting to be involved with a "gamer," and her unconcern towards her own societal "ruin" were ridiculously anachronistic. If I could have reached into the pages and slapped some sense into her, I would have. The hero was noble and generous and totally besotted with this dumbbell - why???? Yes, she showed gumption during their first meeting by trying to shoot him, but said gumption just got sillier and sillier as the story went on. Sigh. I still love the Malloren world and will keep this book, but I'll look at it as a family member one has to endure, not love.

Great writing, stupid heroine

I love the Mallorens. It was Portia, the heroine, I didn't quite like. I was so aggravated with her wishy-washy, combative shrewishness at times I'd have thrown the book across the room if it wasn't my Kindle. (Not a good idea). Bryght deserved better, IMO. I get that Portia was traumatized by her father and brother's gambling addiction, but at times she was TSTL. Loving your sibling is one thing; believing him over and over again strays into stupidity. The only reason it got 3 stars instead of one is the quality of Ms Beverley's writing that kept me slogging through until the end, with the hope that Portia would stop being stupid. Alas, it lasted much too long for my tastes.

Heroine Should Go To Al-Anon

This second book in the Malloren series gave me pause about continuing. I agree with several other reviewers that Phoebe (main character) is a twit. Why Bryght Malloren is attracted to her is a mystery to me. Phoebe is so sappy about her immature brother (he is addicted to gambling) that I almost immediately lost some respect for her. She is truly a portrait of codependency.

This was a great book until the last few chapters. I would have rather heard all about them going back to her home and killing those fools instead of the mushy, touchy-feely sappy stuff I was subjected to.

Short but cute

Lacking in length and completion. Quick ending in bed and for book without exploring the sensuality that brought them together. Too bogged down with whatifs and reminiscent mental discourse on past mistakes to let readers get caught up. Not her best but I'd try her other books. Usually hot scenes amusing events and good storylines are descriptive of her books.

a bonny tale indeed

I usually enjoy reunion stories, and this was no exception. The characters were a bit one-dimensional but there isn't much room in a novella for more. The setting and plot limited the latitude the author had to round out Ian and Nell. I mean, how much can you do with a house-party setting? I would have liked an epilogue to show more of the HEA.

Overall, a good, quick read.

This is a short novella about an estranged couple of 10 years Lord and Lady Kelgorn.They both have been invited to a house party not knowing the other is coming. They end up in the same room and are told not more rooms are available.It appears that there are matchmakers a foot. You learn why she left him and will they be able to find love again.She has been with no one he has had one mistress after the other. I enjoyed reading it not as long of course as her Naked books.

Simple Delight

I confess I've read all of the previous books in this series. They are like a breath of fresh air. Light, entertaining romance. Morton's elderly aunt is always conniving in the name of love. The tale is shorter and the plot simpler than the other novels but it's still a fun quick read.

At Last!

What made the experience of listening to My Lady Notorious the most enjoyable?

Finally! we can listen to the Georgian (Malleron) books in audible form. This was the first book I read by Jo Beverley and I have been hooked ever since. She is a wonderful storyteller who brings to life the glittering, but dangerous world of Georgian England. Her tales are delightfully spicy, skillfully plotted, fast paced adventures. To protect her sister and her newborn, the notorious Chastity Ware must disguise herself as a boy in order to hold up a coach. Fortunately, they encounter the mischievously charming Cynric Malleron who, to relieve his boredom, comes to their rescue and helps them to flee across England. As they evade and escape capture a sensual, powerful love grows between the ill-fated lovers.

What was one of the most memorable moments of My Lady Notorious?

Cyn loves to seduce "Charles" (Chastity) with food and you can almost taste it.

Which character as performed by Alison Larkin was your favorite?

The choice of narrator can profoundly effect even the best written book. I was a bit hesitant because Alison Larkin's voice is rather high-pitched and very female. However, she managed to pull off the male voices. As always, Cyn is my favorite because he is so charming.

I hope this is only the first of this series and that the other four books will also be available in audible form. As this is one of my favorite authors, I would certainly buy all of them. However, may I suggest a narrator with a lower voice range to capture the male voices?

If you prefer Grimm to Andersen, you'll like this

Let me begin with a disclaimer. In my opinion contemporary historical romance is basically the adult version of children's fairy tales and adventure stories - enjoyable fantasies that include sex and desire. As such the unsavory elements in the good vs evil struggle have to be carefully manged for me to enjoy the book. I prefer a mystery and some danger surrounding the romance, because it creates the crucible in which the characters develop and react to each other. But I don't want to read about genuine violence against women within this context.

This book skirts the edge of my comfort zone with the situations and experiences that threaten the primary female character. And although she is resilient and determined, she is too often victimized and rescued by outside forces for my comfort. I prefer books where the female character uses intelligence and wit to save herself.

great characters

Enjoyed the story. Yes, the Wherlockes and the Vaughns are eccentric, but they are far more. This series highlights the unconditional love within an extended family. New family members (spouses, step- and adopted children) receive the same love and support as if blood. Every story in the series has been different except for this element. That is a welcome similarity.

#3 book...gets better and better

I think I'm getting used to Ashford MacNab's voice like it more than in the first one.

This series is more and more interesting. I really like how the author brings back some of the characters of the first books. These Wherlocks and Vaughts are quite fun.

I think this was my favorite, by just a little. I absolutely loved Hartley and Alethea.

The secondary were just awesome: Argus, Olympia, Aldus, Iago, Gifford, Germaine and Bayard.

Claudette and Margarite were truly something else. What a murderous pair of siblings.

The sex in this book was very well written and I can't wait to read the next one in this series.

Highly recommend!

As to the narrator: She is just awesome. She gives the men such sexy voices. I would never get tired of listening to Ms. McNab.

Outstanding!

Would you listen to If He's Wild again? Why?

Entertaining and enjoyable! A unique romance with a touch of paranormal. The story starts from the very beginning, no lag in the first few chapters and it continues to build. Strong supporting characters but Howell never looses focus of the main characters and main story line. She is not predictable! Wonderful narration. This one is a treat and I am so glad there are more to follow.

I enjoy this serious and this is the best one!

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoy this series and each family member is a joy. The books are funny, romantic and interesting. This one has two sociopathic sisters, kill men for their secrets. And of course their money.
