I will listen again and take the time to complete the exercises at the end of each chapter. Regardless what primary responsibility you hold in your job or profession, everyone who works for a living can benefit from Mary Anne Davis' lessons in "The Sales Messenger". Concepts like "the art of questioning," "building bridges for objections," and "trial closing" will help me better identify the needs of my internal stakeholders and promote my team's ideas for improving our business.
What other book might you compare The Sales Messenger to and why?
Mary Anne Davis uses the fable framework much like Patrick Lencioni's "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team" or Gene Kim's "The Phoenix Project". This style is very easy to follow and more entertaining than a typical business lecture-style book.

Teaches you the most important factors for sales success
This book helped me a lot in my new telemarketing sales job, as it made me realize the core principles for success in sales.
Iâve read quite a few books on sales, but none come close to this when it comes down to explaining specifically what really matters when it comes to becoming the best salesperson you can be. It focuses a lot on what mentality you should have as a salesman, and as you use these mentalities and sprinkle in some of the techniques that the book explains, success is inevitable.
I had many âaha!â moments, and I could really relate to what was written because when I now listen to my sales recordings and try to improve, I listen for the elements that this books explains, and I know exactly what to improve. It is also a very positively written book, written purely to help you become as good as you can.
The day after I finished this book I had a personal record of 17 sales in one day - this book helped me realize how much potential I have, and it also motivated and inspired me to push it to the limit. There is no reason not to become the best version of yourself. I highly recommend this book.
    This books covers it all!
I think this is a great book for those who allready masterd some basic sales principles and want to take it to the next level.

This book is very brief. It is written with very sizable font to increase the number of pages, when they could have easily used regular font and it would be 20 pages long. While the book offers good points, it seems to act like a summary of previous sales books I have read. There are also quite a few grammatical errors which blows my mind. Shouldn't the book be proofread before it is printed? This just takes away from the credibility of the author and whether he actually has sales knowledge or is simply summarizing other authors work. Its hasty and there are much better books out there.

Good book for those interested in sharpening their selling skills or for beginners. Very well organized strategies and recommendations to focus your perspective on how to approach the needs of the buyer and close a deal. I recommend it.

Based on new CEB research from thousands of B2B marketers, sellers and buyers around the world, The Challenger Customer shows you how to find these mobilisers and equip them with the tools they need to champion the deal until it's completed. Nailed it.
I work in software (in a role that supports sales), and we have a pretty complex value-based sale, selling into large enterprises. I'm not a sales guy, but I need to think like one and support our sales machine, and this book is invaluable. The first half is required reading for product people, marketing people, anyone involved in supporting the sales people. The second half is really geared to the sales part of the org and I skimmed it, but the first half of this book alone made it worth the price.
Discover why so many B2B sales never happen!
Hi Iâm Douglas Burdett, host of The Marketing Book Podcast and Iâd like to tell you about the book âThe Challenger Customer: Selling to the Hidden Influencer Who Can Multiply Your Resultsâ by Brent Adamson, Matthew Dixon, Pat Spenner and Nick Toman.
OK, first off - if youâre familiar with the bestselling book âThe Challenger Sale,â âThe Challenger Customerâ is from the same authors at CEB.
You may know CEB as the organization that determined in B2B sales, the customer is at least 57% through their buyerâs journey before they first reach out to the seller.
Like The Challenger Sale, The Challenger Customer takes on and refutes a lot of conventional wisdom about what works and what doesnât work in modern B2B marketing and sales. But hereâs the catch - itâs not just the author'sâ opinions. They challenge the conventional wisdom with extensive research done over the last five years.
It turns out only a very specific type of customer stakeholder has the credibility, persuasive skill, and will to effectively challenge their colleagues to pursue anything more ambitious than the status quo. These Challenger customers get deals to the finish line far more often than friendlier stakeholders who seem so receptive at first. In other words, Challenger sellers do best when they target Challenger customers.
I work in the field of B2B marketing and sales, and the conclusions in this book had me thinking (and rethinking) all the best practices in that field.
In one sense, I wish I hadnât read the book.

On an average, a person encounters about three salespersons in a day. Your phone will ring one sunny morning; a jovial salesperson is on the other end of the line selling you cruise vacation tickets. As you condition yourself for a good relaxing nap, somebody begins knocking on your door and when you open it, an insurance salesman is right in your face smiling his heart out. You try to sort out your mail before going to bed and you notice that half of them are promotional materials.
You might be tired of salespeople yourself. In fact, you might have hated the mere sight of one. But do you know that it is one of the most rewarding jobs around? Well, not unless you can become the next President of the United States; but then, I could be wrong.
Salespeople are the individuals who move the company. Their job is to market the products and make the company flourish in the process. If a salesperson is not able to do his job well, then the rest of the company will fall. The CEO, down to the rank-and-file employees, will soon be out of their jobs.
Do you see now how powerful salespeople can be? And because of this alone, they are quite indispensable in any organization.
For a salesperson, every sale merits a commission. Who then would not want to be a salesperson and become rich and successful? Do you now want to be involved in sales? If you still don't feel up for it, consider this. It is in selling where money really lies. You do not even have to invest too much, nor do you need any capital up front. All you need are the right skills and the correct attitude for the job. That is exactly what this book is going to give you. After you've gone through this book, you will become a top-notch salesperson - a salesperson who can sell anything and everything under the sun, from a shiny new car to a multi-colored checkered coat and tie collection.
