    Publisher's Summary:
From Martha Brockenbrough, award winning author of The Game of Love and Death, comes an intimate new YA audiobook focusing on the private life of Alexander Hamilton. Complex, passionate, brilliant, flawedAmerica's favorite Founding Father comes alive in this exciting biography.
He was born out of wedlock on a small island in the West Indies and orphaned as a teenager. From those inauspicious circumstances, he rose to a position of power and influence in colonial America.
Discover this founding father's incredible true story: his brilliant scholarship and military career; his groundbreaking and enduring policy, which shapes American government today; his salacious and scandalous personal life; his heartrending end.
Richly informed by Hamilton's own writing, Alexander Hamilton, Revolutionary is an in-depth biography of an extraordinary man.

    but great for easy
Listed as for teens, but great for easy, quick reading with lots of info. I wanted it for background before seeing the musical HAMILTON.
    Beautifully written, and beautifully designed
An excellent book. Am giving copies to my 13 year old grandson and his best buddy this very afternoon. Not only is it interesting to read, but the design of the book is stellar. There are many highlighted quotations and photographs to help bring alive the story for young minds. And the rich-looking cover! Made to look like currency, it has foil and feels three-dimensional, with great details. With hats off to the author, and to Raphael Geroni Design, for a gorgeous book inside and out.
Not just for fans of the musical
A thoroughly researched and highly readable account of the life of one of the most fascinating and (until recently) neglected figures from the infancy of our nation. Full of drama, intrigue, romance, and even humor, this is much more than a biography of a single man--it's really a portrait of an age, as embodied in one extraordinary person. Not a light read, it will appeal to the reader who wants to dig in. A minor quibble: the ink is so pale as to make some of the text difficult to read, especially when italicized. When I re-read it, I'll try the audiobook. Highly recommended for history buffs and for the general reader.
    The Birth of a Nation
When Martha first announced Hamilton, I was thrilled. I couldnât wait to see Hamilton through the eyes of such a spectacular woman.
Filled with notes and photos, Revolutionary is as much the story of the birth of America as it is Hamiltonâs story, including the messy parts. Taking over what is now the US was not so great for the indigenous people on this land and Revolutionary explores that. It also doesnât shy away from Hamiltonâs flaws (which are plentiful). Thereâs a quick look into the people around him.
For a history book, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The way Martha lays it out kept me continuing through the audiobook (which I loved!). I also learned quite a bit. Itâs funny how little we learn in school about how our countryâs values came to be. I ended up buying a signed physical copy because I loved it so much!
Wonderful additional material at the back and an inspiring
Such an entertaining, accessible, fluid way to really dig into Alexander Hamilton's life and learn what made him tick.

Subhi's imagination is as big as the ocean and wide as the sky, but his world is much smaller: he's spent his whole life in an immigration detention centre.
The Bone Sparrow is a powerful, heartbreaking, sometimes funny and ultimately uplifting hymn to freedom and love.
Sometimes, at night, the dirt outside turns into a beautiful ocean. As red as the sun and as deep as the sky. I lie in my bed, Queeny's feet pushing up against my cheek, and listen to the waves lapping at the tent.
Subhi is a refugee. Born in an Australian permanent detention centre after his mother fled the violence of a distant homeland, life behind the fences is all he has ever known. But as he grows, his imagination gets bigger too, until it is bursting at the limits of his world. The Night Sea brings him gifts, the faraway whales sing to him, and the birds tell their stories.
The most vivid story of all, however, is the one that arrives one night in the form of Jimmie, a scruffy, impatient girl who appears from the other side of the wires, and brings a notebook written by the mother she lost. Unable to read it, she relies on Subhi to unravel her own family's love songs and tragedies.
Subhi and Jimmie might both find a way to freedom, as their tales unfold. But not until each of them has been braver than ever before.
Zana Fraillon was born in Melbourne, but spent her early childhood in San Francisco. Zana has written two picture books for young children, a series for middle readers, and a novel for older readers based on research and accounts of survivors of the Forgotten Generation. She spent a year in China teaching English and now lives in Melbourne with her three sons, husband and two dogs. When Zana isn't reading or writing, she likes to explore the museums and hidden passageways scattered across Melbourne. They provide the same excitement as that moment before opening a new book - preparing to step into the unknown where a whole world of possibilities awaits.
    Critic Reviews:
"Written in a child's sensibility, it conveys the heat, listlessness and the imperative of surviving through stories, even if that means conjuring up pictures from the mould growing next to your bed and believing the vast desert that surrounds you is actually the sea. But even Subhi's superior imagination can't forever protect him from the reality of hunger strikes, sewed lips and violence. A powerful and highly disturbing read, even more so because it's based on truth." (The Big Issue)
"This is an exquisite, heart-rendingly honest portrayal of life in a refugee detention camp." (Good Reading)
"The Bone Sparrow is a powerful, heartbreaking, sometimes funny and ultimately uplifting hymn to freedom and love." (The Independent Bookseller)

    Publisher's Summary:
Ash Tyler knows that times have been tough in his area of Northern England. There has been drought, and the sheep that didn't die from disease were killed by government officials trying to prevent the disease from spreading. His father returns from war physically unharmed but carrying emotional and psychological scars. Even Ash's best friend, Mark, isn't acting like himself. Ash feels more disconnected from his loved ones than ever. All he wants is for everything to go back to how it used to be.
As Ash trains to run in the Stag Chase - a race rooted in violent, ancient lore - he's certain that if he can just win the race and make his father proud, life will return to normal. But the line between reality and magic, between the living world and the dead, is rapidly blurring, and the past has a way of threatening the present. Ash's friend Mark is on a quest to bring his late father back from the dead in a ritual that now threatens Ash.
When a run in the mountains brings Ash face to face with Bone Jack - a figure with the ability to take different natural forms - everything changes once more. Bone Jack guards the boundary between the living world and the dead, and he's reappeared after centuries of dormancy, summoned by the dark energy taking root. As Ash tries to sort out why the very fabric of his world - and the people in it - are falling apart, it becomes harder to distinguish reality from illusion. Ash must literally run for his life if he is ever to help his friend, save himself, and restore things to their proper order.

A mermaid's supernatural beauty serves one purpose: to lure a sailor to his death.
The Massacre is supposed to bring peace to Eriana Kwai. Every year, the island sends its warriors to battle these hostile sea demons. Every year, the warriors fail to return. Desperate for survival, the island must decide on a new strategy. Now, the fate of Eriana Kwai lies in the hands of 20 battle-trained girls and their resistance to a mermaid's allure.
Eighteen-year-old Meela has already lost her brother to the Massacre, and she has lived with a secret that's haunted her since childhood. For any hope of survival, she must overcome the demons of her past and become a ruthless mermaid killer.

Mermaids. Badass Warrior Women. Lesbian Love.
If you could sum up Ice Massacre in three words, what would they be?
    Brutal. Action-packed. Heartwarming.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Meela. She knows she must fight the mermaids for her people, but she also has a soft spot for them since her best friend is a mermaid. Her struggle is real and while she will do anything to protect her crew, she will also do anything to protect Lysi, even if it means being called a traitor.
What about Sarah Beth Goers performance did you like?
I love how Sarah gives each girl their own voice. She's talented with voice work and she's calm and easy to listen to. I would definitely listen to more books she narrates.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I love the very end when Meela realizes that her feelings for Lysi is more than that of friendship.
    Any additional comments?
Let me start off by saying that I bought this book (the paperback) back in 2015 and I loved it! I listen to Audible at work and I yearned for the day that Ice Massacre would be on Audible and I'm so happy that it's finally here!
Ice Massacre is about the people of Eriana Kwai struggling to live because of a mermaid infestation in the Gulf of Alaska. The people of Eriana Kwai are unable to fish because the mermaids kill their people and without fish (their primary source of food and their export to the main land) the economy of Eriana Kwai is going to hell. Every year Eriana Kwai sends men out to sea for a month to battle these sea demons and every year it's a lost cause. This year, though, Eriana Kwai is sending battle-trained women. The allure of the mermaid has no affect on women and as long as they can't be affected, they stand a better chance at winning the battle and removing the infestation.
The story is centered around Meela, our protagonist. When she was a child she had a mermaid as a friend named Lysi. Meela and Lysi were inseparable, but their friendship was a secret. Then, when something happens Meela is forced to grow up and see the mermaids for what they really are: ravenous sea demons who hunger for human flesh. At the age of 18, Meela is set to battle these mermaids with 19 other battle-trained, 18 year-old women. It doesn't take long for shit to hit the fan!
Ice Massacre is filled with brutal, heart-pounding action and a story of discovery that will you have rooting for Meela and Lysi as they come to better understand one another out at sea.

    I absolutely loved this book
I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect mix of challenging, funny, and eye-opening. The author is so open and honest, and I have no doubt that this book would help any girl discover more about herself and more about the One who made her. I would recommend this book to any teenage girl wanting to be challenged in the Word -- any girl who is willing to dare greatly!
    Daughter loves it
Perfect book for a teen girl
    Thumbs up
I had the privilege of facilitating a bible study for senior high girls for my daughter and her friends recently using this book. I can not say enough good things about this book. First of all, I think it's the perfect book for teenage girls as Hannah used easy to understand, relevant life experiences, the girls can relate to. Secondly, the daily guides are short and concise, and on point, taking into consideration the attention span of most girls in this age group. Thirdly, the issues discussed are all the issues high school girls typically deal with. The girls did not have a hard time answering most of the questions as they are right in the middle of dealing with these issues. Even though the book is for high school girls, I can say that most topics are still appropriate for adults, as I learned from these, too (well, not the topic on boys...I am past that since I found my man :-) ). In fact, as most bible study facilitators experience, although I lead the group, I learned from it, too, probably as much as these girls did. There are different dares every week, hence the title "Dare Greatly", but the dares are practical and doable. Even after the study was done, I encouraged the girls to go back to this book and soak in the scriptures mentioned in the book a little more, especially, if they felt they breezed through the book just so they can do their "homework". As the facilitator, I found it more fun to hold the studies at home, where the girls can just relax. Since the studies were done on a school night, I decided to include dinner before the discussion and girl, did that just made the studies more fun and relaxing. There's nothing like a good food to start our time together. I also make sure we have time to share our concerns to pray about. By the way, I thought the "word of the week" and "quote of the week", may not be as useful but I was wrong. I made games out of these on our "graduation day" and it was a blast to see them dig their heads in with their moms to match the quotes with their sources and the words with their meaning. We held our final study in a hotel out of town in time for Mother's Day weekend, with the girls and their moms.

Children are indeed our future., our now., we owe children our knowledge because we were given knowledge by our elders also. This book is not just for them though, it is for us also we lleaen just how family dynamics are meant to be.
My daughter and I both like this series
One major physics problem though. A major prop in the story is a rubiks cube sized artifact which alters gravity. The author confuses weight with mass. The cube supposedly has a mass of several tons but can alter gravity so that it is practically weightless. One of the characters pops it in their pocket and walks off with it. Its mass and resultant inertia would make that impossible. Except at relativistic speeds mass cannot be altered.
