Great book

First book I've read that is factual about towboats and the people that work on them. I gave copies to my employees (we are naval architects who design towboats and barges) to give to their kids.

Great message

I love this little book. It is the right size, the children read it to each other. They fell in love with Finn. I like how he encouraged everyone to use their talents.

I am going to buy more books and take them to Guatemala to be used in a classroom of children learning English. I think they will be well received. The graphics are also great, soothing and draw you into the life of Finn.

More of these books please.

Fantastic Story

I have known David Marshall for a long time. This book is just right for reaching young children and giving them a valuable learning experience. The author is very gifted as an illustrator and story teller. Looking forward to more books from this creative individual.

Loved Finn

I loved the story of Finn The Frog Who Played The Violin. The story was well written and showed how everybody is special in their own way. I loved the drawings also. I would like to see more from this author.

Fantastic Finn

Finn is a wonderful character that will be loved and appeal to kids of all ages. I bought this book for my boys and as a parent love the message it delivers. Its well written and captivating. The illustrations are well done and enchanting. I'm planning on giving this book as teacher's gifts as well so the story of Finn can be shared with future students. I highly recommend this book and look forward to more inspirational books from this author!!

Inspiring for children of all ages and simply brilliant!

"CANâT is a coward, but TRY is a king.â What else can be more inspiring for children of all ages?

I myself felt like a child being swept away into this story as I read it to my two twin boys over the weekend. All three of us found ourselves rooting for Herman the Bean as he went through his trouble and tribulations. The deep message inside the story is to never give up. Even when you call down you must TRY and TRY again until you achieve your hearts desires.

The rhyming patterns found in the book are done with grace and ease making it perfect in developing childrenâs motor skills. Herman as the title suggests is a Jelly Bean and is illustrated and portrayed amazingly. Both of my boys (2 Year-Old) were engaged and would not let put the book down. More then likely this will be one of the few books in that I will read to them over and over. Definitely a fun filled tale of adventure and self-discovery that will surly turn out to be a classic.

Author Robert Hosking has done a marvelous job with this childrenâs book. I cannot wait to read more from him and our new friend Herman the Bean

A wonderful classic

This is the bedtime book of my childhood. I love it, and I often refer to it. (Everybody knows a "Cat who Walks by Himself," right?) It ushered-in a lifelong love of Kipling and evocative and often amusing stories of animals and the Raj. This one was my favorite...a book of amusingly charming parables for the young and not-so-young. I also loved "The Jungle Book" and "The Second Jungle Book." Akela the wolf was my hero, and I was unendly jealous of Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves.

If you haven't read "Just So Stories," put it on your Kindle. Each story takes only a few minutes to read...I re-read them while I'm in a waiting room, using the Kindle App on my iPhone.

I was a little disappointed in this book

I was a little disappointed in this book. I bought it for a 3 year old and the illustrations are in black and white. OK for an older child but I had to look into other versions for one with color illustrations to stimulate the imagination of a 3 year old.

It is a bit annoying how the drawings were placed

It is a bit annoying how the drawings were placed, sometimes an obvious easy bump up or down a page would have left the story less broken up, but the version is decent - though remind me on my third time reading with kids to skip the crab story, no one likes it.

Great as a reading copy, not great for illustrations

This edition is a slim paperback with somewhat poor reproductions of Kipling's original art. I'd much prefer a larger, better-illustrated volume for my child.

Classic Kipling

I read this first when I was about 7 yrs old. It's held up well except for the overt colonialism, but Kipling didn't know any better...or DID he? I've bought the same book for my 7 yr old granddaughter.
