Fun Book!

Coleen Buckmaster visited our school last week to read her story to our students in grades Pre-K through 4th. The students loved the story and anecdotes about the old west and cowboys.

She also did a discussion about writing with the 7th graders, and they loved it!

A must-BUY!

I cannot express how DeMaio captured the ability to express the trials & tribulations of a child going through cancer treatments. From explaining what cancer actually is (in a kid-friendly way), to assuring the reader that they (or someone they know) will be ok during this difficult time. I am aware that DeMaio wrote this in memory of a best friend, Charles, who lost his battle with cancer a few years ago. She made a promise to him- and DeMaio kept her promise. And, I'd say she did a pretty awesome job at it... If you know someone who's child is going through an illness, this is an age-appropriate book to read with them. Highly recc'd! BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!

Big Charles is a complete delight!

Ms. DeMaio has written a sensitive, inspirational, and upbeat story for little people. She was moved to write her book by the experience of her close friend Charles Pasdera who battled the disease with a great attitude and much bravery. Big Charles delights on many levels. Not only does it encourage children battling cancer to have hope but it also encourages every child to develop compassion for others and to see how a positive outlook on life is a powerful tool for transformation and good health As a mother, grandmother, and professional nanny I recommend this wonderful book to everyone.

Almost seems written for our princess

Our daughter is named Nia, and the pictures of Princess Nia and her parents strangely resemble the three of us. We had a hard time with Nia turning 2 in the story, having that vocabulary and playing baseball, but we just replace the number with however old our Nia is turning when we read.

BTW, we bought the ebook, which doesn't appear to be available anymore.

Wowwwwww very nice

I loved this book and I love how it promotes the imagination as well as educating on the meaning of names, and my kids not only read this book over and over but they love to listen and read along with it too. The audio is a great addition. I definitely look forward to more books from this author!!!

Great Book for beginning readers

My daughter is 6, and was thoroughly engaged in this story. It does a good job of using words familiar with 4-6 year-olds, while also introducing more challenging words at a manageable pace. Very good book for.my 6 yr. Old. Highly recommended, and we look forward to more books from the author.

This book is a cute and wonderful book to read to children. Though it is about a snow day, it is fun to read all year round. It's rhyming sentences and wonderful illustrations make it a real treat that should be on any child's bookshelf!
