In 2004, the Old Dominion University chapter of the NAACP conferred on him the Image Award, "Reaffirming the Dream - Realizing the Vision", for military excellence. Wonderful read for those looking for more from their prayer life

I have been a Christian for many years and I enjoy the simple approach that is taken in this book. Each chapter is filled with ample scripture to support the authors views concerning prayer and it's power. I completed the book in a week; reading about a chapter a day or more. I am thinking of reading it again and taking notes to share a study with my church group. Further, the book gives some insight to what it's like being Senate chaplain and how to use your faith productively. Any reader seeking a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ would benefit in many ways by reading this book.

This book is great. Barry Black is a very good writer and the thoughts he gives are excellent. I love the way he approaches prayer.

Starting with the book's dedication to the very last chapter, the reader of Robby's latest book will be encouraged, challenged, impacted, and changed! Sprinkled within the pages are testimonies from those who have taken the risks to share the Kingdom of Heaven with others. You might be the next one to share your testimony!

We can do this.

Out of the three books, I believe this is the best one. Don't get me wrong the others made me cry and rejoice, (sometimes, at the same time!) . I love the testimonials, lessons learned and the VICTORIES ,specially the VICTORIES!!!! Because of these books, Do What Jesus Did, The Identity Theft and now Do Greater Things, I find myself praying for and with more people than ever before.

Pray for people in obedience and with expectation!

Robby Dawkins, evangelist and pastor, believes that "Jesus expects us to heal the sick, cast out demons and even raise the dead in His name!" In Do Greater Things: Activating the Kingdom to Heal the Sick and Love the Lost, he tells story after story of people being healed and otherwise miraculously encountering the love of Jesus. As he previously wrote in Do What Jesus Did, praying expectantly for healing should be a regular part of our interactions with others, whether in church or out in the community.

The way he approaches life is unlike most Christians' experience. Where many Christians are reluctant even to say the name of Jesus, Dawkins's model is to prayerfully consider and observe people around you. If you someone who seems to be sick, in pain, or disabled, why not ask them if they would like prayer? And why not ask God for healing? He advocates stepping out boldly, not waiting for specific direction from God to pray for someone. He writes, "Jesus told us to heal the sick. I don't see anywhere in the Scriptures where He says, 'But don't pray for anyone unless I tell you to.'" Pray for everyone!

I really enjoyed reading about his experiences. When possible, he enlists children or unbelievers to pray with him. He will have the child place his hands on the sick person and have the child repeat his words. When a person is healed, what a faith builder for both the praying person and the person healed! Dawkins leads by example, and provides examples and guidelines readers can apply as they hit the streets.

Dawkins calls us away from praying selfishly.

Life transforming for men

All men need to read this to change from living lives of spiritual defeat into mighty men of valor the way God intended.

Breaking the spirits of Ahab and Jezebel in order to have true Spiritual Headship.

I have not even finished reading this, but am blown away with description of Ahab. I know it was written mostly for men, but for women that have a man in their life or marriage that is not taking responsibility for spiritual leadership, please read. For those of us that grew up without correct spiritual leadership in our homes but want it to be changed, please read. My own mother was in charge and I married a man that his father did not lead spiritually I have been greatly been affected by the Jezebel spirit and thus married Ahab, but did not know that. My eyes are truly being opened and believing for freedom and reversal in my home.

I would like to add something to my review. My husband is reading now and said it is the best book I have ever recommended to him. He sees how this applies to him and has repented and asking God to change him. This is turning my household around and into divine order.

Who's Your Daddy? Is (or was) he a strong loving spiritual leader in your family?

I bought the book, not the Kindle edition.

I really like Nelson Schuman's first book, Restored to Freedom, but I like this book even more. His way of communicating is easy to read. He clearly explains Godly order in the home, why many of us did not have this while growing up, the harm this has done to families, and what we can do to get Godly order back in the home. It is extremely important for the father in the family to be a strong and loving spiritual leader in the family.

I know that in my family, it seems that most of the men have not been the spiritual leaders in the family. This leaves the women in the family to initiate taking the family to church, teaching Biblical truth, leading in prayers, etc. This is often because the men were not role modeled by their own fathers in how to be strong spiritually. These kind of men commonly marry strong and controlling women. The men do not want to lead their families in the spiritual area and give this responsibility over to their wives. When the women start doing this, they can become more and more controlling and manipulative. This just continues generation after generation.

But Schuman states that, "It is time to walk boldly and learn your authority in Christ so that you can do all the things that the Lord has called you to do. You can and must do it because if you do not, then you will be accountable to the Lord and you do not want Him not to say, 'Well done my good and faithful servant.' " We want to be all that the Lord has called us to be don't we? Of course we do.

Good bible study

Good bible study, I think he is a little off on a few things, but as long as you realize that this is not the bible and you don't have to agree with everything in it. There are a lot of good points and things that will open your eyes to areas of your life that could be better and help you to be a better husband, father and son of God.

Funny story.

Funny story... there is a book that has a similar title and it is complete opposite! Be careful when searching the title elsewhere!

On a serious note, recommended from a husband to my boyfriend. He liked it and understood everything but it was hard to relate considering our relationship! Definitely consider purchasing if you want to learn more about becoming a better husband!

A must read for anyone who dreams

This book was recommended as required reading for our prophetic ministry team at church. Kindle was my choice in way of purchase. As I am an avid dreamer, I've found this book extremely essential in understanding and hearing God's voice. I highly recommend Hearing God through Your Dreams to all individuals. Everyone should read this book!

Encouraging and Helpful

I was able to read this through in an afternoon, but I would hope to go through it again a bit more deeply maybe with a closed small group. I would strongly recommend every woman read this as it would be helpful in multiple situations and phases of life, even if she were strongly emotionally healthy. It would also be helpful to any woman who ministers, disciples, or walks with other women to work through or reference using solid biblical principles, commands, and especially claiming God's promises.

Practical, Godly Advice for All

First sentence: Imagine Marilla Cuthbert and Anne Shirley writing a book together, and thatâll give you an idea of whatâs ahead. But thatâs only half the story. We may be emotional opposites, but we share a common curiosity and enthusiasm to learn what the Bible has to say about a womanâs feelings.

Premise/plot: True Feelings is written by a mother and daughter team. The focus is on emotions and what God has revealed about them in his Word. Chapters include: "Fact, Fiction, and Feelings," "The Gift of Emotions," "Why Do I Feel This Way?" "Feeling Good," "Emotional Emergency Measures," "How Do I Control My Emotions?" "Act to Feel," "God's Purpose in Pain," and "Godly Emotions for Life." The foreword is by one of my favorite authors, Joni Eareckson Tada. The book is definitely geared more towards women, but, I don't think women are the only ones that struggle with emotions and feelings.

The book is titled True Feelings. In chapter four, they define what makes feelings true:

Do we believe what God says is true and do we value what God says we should value? If so, we will have true feelings. In other words, our positive emotions are ungodly if we approve of things that God says are wrong or find pleasure in things that God hates.

My thoughts: I definitely would recommend this one. At first, I felt a little disconnected from the authors. I remember finding it odd that the authors were referring to themselves in the third person. But it wasn't too long before I forgot about *who* was writing it and focused solely on the content or the message. What does God have to say in His Holy Word about emotions and feelings--positive and negative?

I would say the book is practical and relevant.

Intriguing study! Thought provoking content with a relevant application toward understanding racial reconciliation in church.

Unity is actually a pretty big deal

I am not sure why it took me so long to get around to reading Disunity in Christ, but it has. The book came out four years ago and I purchased it two years ago for kindle. But I didnt actually read it until last week when it came out on audio.

I did not need convincing that Unity is a pretty important part of Christianity. The problem is not that unity is important, but what unity means and what we should be doing about the lack of unity.

Books on Christian unity are not completely unusual. But most books are either theological explorations of the concept of unity, or practical training on peacemaking. While there are theological reflections and practical ideas on how to build unity, what is unique is the social science that helps to explain both why unity is important and why unity is hard to achieve solely with human means.

Christena Cleveland is a Social Psychologist. She is currently a professor at Duke Divinity School and a frequent trainer. The background in social science research, along with a number of studies that she gives her credibility.

I wanted to push back multiple times against some of the focuses of Disunity in Christ, but most of my areas of complaint were answered by the end of the book. Much of my push back is against her assertions that did not seem to give enough weight to the role of power and abuse or too much weight to keeping those in power as part of the discussion and movements toward unity. It is not that she is unaware of those issues. But the focus of the book is to get everyone to hear the call toward unity.

It is not that those in power dont need to work on unity. Over the past year or so as disunity within the church has become harder to ignore, especially around issues of race and gender and politics. As an African American woman, Cleveland is not ignoring these issues. But she also isnt focusing solely on issues of gender or race or politics. What I keep seeing is a resistance to those in majority spaces to recognizing that there is a problem.

Great way to jumpstart a life of freedom!

I found this book to be a simple and straightforward way to deal with things getting in-between my relationship with God. There are also great prayers that can be used daily to stay in a life of Freedom.
