    Original
Most original and well written litrpg I've read in a while. I returned the last two or three litrpg audiobooks I bought because the clichés and bad writing was getting to be overwhelming. I'm happy to finally find a book in this genre that takes the writing as seriously as it does the litrpg conventions.
I look forward to the next book.
    Something extremely special and promising
Truly I can't espouse the positives of this book enough. Don't judge this by the authors previous works, this is the start of an opus. There is just enough actual tension, comedy, action and character growth to fill your soul here. The twists are smart enough to not be obvious but if your observant you can figure them out just as they get confirmed or disproven..... all the way to the last sentence.
This is not LitRPG like you know it.
It's a thriller, a mystery, a few other genre I won't go into. This is a true novel that brilliantly incorporates the traits of the LitRPG genre into the basic fiction structure we know today. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the genre as a whole but you get used to the tropes and cliches that are starting to show up.
This is not like that (very much at least)
On top of a unbelievable engaging story, I was EXTREMELY skeptical of a female narrator covering a male MC. I almost feel kinda bad even thinking it now, it also fits in a way you'll start understanding throughout the novel. This is truly a book above any sort of labeling or stereotype.
DESPITE my hesitation, Andrea is unbelievably wonderful. Her range is amazing, various nuances, accents, even deep gruff voices are well done. She truly made this brilliant story come alive, especially poppy and Alice. I am truly happy she narrated this novel.
This book is wonderful, though it will show some flaws like most books do. I do not claim it to be perfect. It may not fit your style. But I think this is worth more than a credit, it's worth buying outright. I truly had a wonderful riveting time listening and I cannot tell you how much I crave more of this world, even if the perspective is to shift in book 2 as reports suggest. May you enjoy this book, and if my review helps you decide to try it I hope you come to enjoy and love this book as much as I did.
    So Good
this is a lit RPG of the highest quality. the characters are well-written the twists and turns well delivered and wholly enjoyable I had a great time reading it and I know you will too.
    Litrpg for the win
in am about half way through this book and am loving it, story is excellent! narration is epic, andrea breathes life into each of the characters and makes each of them unique.

    Publisher's Summary:
What would you do if you spotted a man following a young woman, but no-one else could see him?
Like most sane people, student Alex Webber thought he was hallucinating - perhaps he'd consumed something bad at the party he'd been attending that night, or he was severely overtired.
But when he sees the mysterious man following Natalie again the very next day, he can no longer disbelieve his eyes.
Although she denies the man's existence, Alex sees her walking with him down a road in his neighborhood he's never seen before - and can't help but follow. After a bizarre, but strangely short journey, he finds himself standing before a towering iron gate wreathed in gray ivy, behind which looms a decrepit old mansion named Spellshadow Manor.
Spellshadow, with its beautiful yet sinisterly decorated hallways, ever-changing outdoor scenery, and very unusual residents...Alex will quickly learn it is a place that is as wondrous as it is deadly.
Especially for a normal person like him.
What if you found yourself recruited to an institute of magic, only to discover you really couldn't do magic?
What if your enrollment there was all one big, terrible mistake?
If you were at Spellshadow, you'd keep it a secret. A deep, dark, deadly secret...
Because Spellshadow's elusive head is hiding a secret of his own - one that Alex soon realizes he and Natalie must uncover at all costs if either of them wishes to leave the Manor alive...and before it's too late.

    NO NO NO!
This is NOT for those who love Harry Potter. ....not even close. Really misleading advertising. Don't buy it.
    No go on this one
I could not get over the person narrating the book. It was horrible. I actually stopped listening. How do I get my money back? This is nothing against Bella Forrest as she is a great author.
    NOT HARRY POTTER
I was fooled by the hype on Facebook. This is nothing like Harry Potter. I only finished it hoping it would have a good ending. The end leaves you hanging and I don't care enough to find out what happens in the sequels.
    Amateurish
The writing is amateurish, with the author telling us, not showing us. Some of the similes used we're ridiculous. Overall, a ridiculous story. Don't waste your time.
Not bad, but it's no Harry Potter
The only thing close to the Harry Potter series is the shifting hallways and the minuscule amount of magic. It has a bit of Grimm the television series but even then only vaguely. I listened to the end as that's the only way on can really judge a book but honestly there was not much to hold on to. Unlike HP that has a climactic scene then closes one mystery but still holds to one overall mystery, there is no climax and one is left with "I suffered through all that and for what?" The story has great potential but in the probable rush to publish I believe someone forgot to write something in order to build up the audience.
Hopefully book two will explain some things but I don't hold out much hope. The narrator was quite good and he was the only reason I could keep listening.

It has potential, I'm blaming the editor
I see talent in the writing but there are newbie issues (no I have no idea how many the author has written, just an opinion). For one, it needs to decide on an audience. The story line and easy read suggests preteen-early teens yet throws in cursing and sex like trying for a 20+ audience. Then they will be talking in one place then turn around and be in another making it hard to picture or follow. I'll think, 'wait what?' and go back to see if I missed them walking somewhere else but nope. And then in the middle it like, re-explained characters & the story like it was a new book and we had to be reminded? I'm guessing it's an audible thing, like the book was actually released in peices maybe?
Not an Author, just an Avid reader
    very great book
good narration with distinct voices and accents! Love the male narrator's voice!
Story foreshadows much, but you need a good detective mind to catch some clues. Tear-jerker and jaw-dropping after that.
The only parts I disliked was the complete lack of follow up on Flynn's death, then the extreme attention to the final student's death, and the fact that the healer could not smell cigarette smoke on her assistant despite many explanations on how sensitive dragon senses are.
Theres a novella at the start
Sort of important to know, because 6 chapters in theres a complete recap and it gets super redundant. HOWEVER this book is so worth it. I always see twists coming, like always, and this book pulled one over on me three times at the end.
There is a marked improvement over the writing style in the first book, its clear that the author has hit her stride.
The first chapter has a weird pitch-shift downward at the very start and it was almost enough for me to call off the series if it had continued into chapter 2. It didnt.
    Exciting
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, of course I will recommend. This second book is really enjoyable. The story is very interesting and is a good entertaining.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrators managed to present the emotions and personality of each character. Moreover, the narration is very clear, easy to understand.

    Feelings
[somewhat spoilers] The performance was wonderful, the story was wonderful, but Im just bitter over certain things that happen to characters also not sure how I felt about the total drop off of certain characters that where a support group.
    Our Dark Duet
It was a very entertaining book, but there were some problems here and there with either parts that pissed me off or parts I could not understand.
Unenticing start spirals to a biting grip mid-book
The beginning of Our Dark Duet left me struggling to get through, and thinking the magic had been lost in Schwab's tight storytelling. However, the shallow storytelling and slow plot pick up around the middle of the book and keeps you hooked until the end, fleshing out what felt missing in the beginning section and bringing more understanding and lore. Worthwhile read and great narrator.
    Why Kate!
August is still tortured but stronger. Kate is still a badass but even more so. Ilsa is still alive!!!!! (yay! ) And this piece of shit Sloan hasn't died off yet (ugh!) . . . At least when the story begins. I didn't like the outcome for a few important characters but I can admit their outcomes made it a better story.
    What The . . . . Just Happened ?
Victoria Schwab is one of the most amaZing writers. I love everything she puts out. But I will admit that this particular story, Killed Me. Never has she made me cry, so saddened by the out come. This book has it all and if you don't fall in love with most of the characters, you're heartless yourself. I hate spoilers , just know this was minimal in romance, but heavy on the heart and does tug on your heart strings - it rips your heart out and devours it with one bite.

    Glad that I found this!
I liked the structuring of this audiobook version. English language being my first language, it was difficult for me to practice my French skills and to understand most of the words. However, I did notice some improvement while practicing my French with this audiobook and will definitely continue to listen to it. Plus the narrator's pronounciation of the words is very clear. Overall, very good audiobook!
Great audio & bilingual version of this epic tale!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Le Petit Prince is a classic of French literature, I believe it is even one of the most popular French book. It is not only directed to children but adults can also identify to this universal character.
This audio version is great, well done and not annoying or boring at all. The tone of the narrater is pleasant, and the expressions used make it alive. It allows the listener to completely enter in another world and escape reality. I found, as a native French speaker, that listening to the book in French is more authentic, the speed of narration is not too fast.
The English version is a fantastic alternative though, especially if you a non-French speaker. Improve your French skills by combining both versions. I highly recommend to discover the tale of Le Petit Prince through this audio book, it is a timeless story.
    Very Creative and Original
Would you consider the audio edition of Le petit prince (The Little Prince) to be better than the print version?
Yes of course! Really helped in improving my French Diction, i can't learn that through a physical book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Le petit prince (The Little Prince)?
How French words are being broken down and used in ways that are easy to remember
Have you listened to any of Aurore Belle and Shanna Stoker s other performances before? How does this one compare?
    I haven't
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Life and Times of the Little Prince
    Any additional comments?
Such a Classic! An Originally composed story with such brilliance is pretty hard to find these days.

    A favorite
Wonderful story, wonderful narration. While there is a bit of a slow start, by the end I couldn't wait for the next book. I hope people give it a try, because it is very much worth a credit.
The first of many great stories
This writer is one of the funnest riders to read. This story The Thief is one of the best. This is a good safe clean story for young folks and adults alike. I have waited many years for audible to finally pick up this writer and I am so glad they have. Probably because of the popularity of the book that was just released it has caused publishers to notice how many people are looking forward to stories from Megan Whalen Turner. It is a good fiction story with a fun plot about mythology. I hope you enjoy it as much as our family has. RPR
    Narrator is wrong choice
I've read the book many times so it seemed natural to add this to my audible collection. The book itself is fantastic. Unfortunately the narrarator choice isn't great. Him reading other books would be fine but his deep scratchy voice was totally the wrong pick for a whiney adolescent that probably hasn't hit puberty or is just going through it. It didn't fit the character at all and this book is written in first person!
    Outstanding book
This is a simply amazing story, narrated expertly. It is nice to see one of my favorite books from my childhood done so much justice.
    Great book, wrong narrator
I first listened to The Thief as a book on tape (yes cassette tape, I am that old) preformed by Jeff Woodman when i was in middle school. Mr Woodman gave a much better performance than Mr West has.

Mostly good but my least favorite of the series thus far.
This book fits in well with the rest of the series but too much war and strategy for my taste. It was a little hard to follow but maybe that's just because I'm not as interested in that aspect of the story. It is exceptional well tied together. As always I enjoy the intricacies of the relationships of the characters
    Truly a good book.
When I saw that the main character wasn't Gen I was ready to hate this, now all I can do is grovel and ask for forgiveness at my naivety. Although I do like Gen better I by no means denounce Soph as a bad character and would recommend this book to any fan of the series. I hope they are not prejudice against this book as I was and if they are, I hope this review will be helpful to them.
    Not my favorite
I really like series, but I found this one a little hard to get in to. Especially on the heels of King of Attolia, which was so strong. Still a good listen. Really love Steve West. Just wish the end didn't have so many loose ends.
Right After an Author can't think of what else to
This is more of a spin off then really a part of the main story line. None of the major characters appear until the last couple chapters. The book lacked the flair of the others - it wasn't predictable but I never was really rooting anyone. It was more a very very long chase without a good feel at the end.
    great characters
Steve West brings Megan Whalen Turner's beautiful characters to life. This book slowly builds to a great conclusion.

    Perfectly crafted story, flawless performance
A gorgeous stand alone follow up to The Thief. The story is crafted with tight language and rich in subtext. You'll want to immediately re-read to figure out how Megan Whalen Turner did it!
Steve West's performance is perfect and enriched
    Long live the queens!
The queens of Eddis and Attolia were both minor princesses not intended for the thrones of their countries. But their royal experiences are completely different. Eddis is stable, but Attolia's barons are chronically rebellious.
Queen Attolia has sworn that the next king will be her personal choice, no matter what her barons say. Two other countries are eager to exploit the barons' disloyalty, eager enough to bankroll rebellions. Determined to safeguard her throne, Attolia has acquired a reputation for ruthlessness.
For Queen Eddis, nothing is more dangerous than Attolia's instability. King Sunis wants to marry Eddis, but the queen and her nobles oppose the marriage as he is not a man to be trusted. Her refusal angers Sunis into seeking an excuse for war. With an unstable Attolia on her other border, Eddis could easily fall into a bloody two-front war.
Both countries need an ally, but allies are in short supply. Even if an ally Is available, the price of an alliance is a marriage in a world where the king outranks the queen.
Is there any way for either queen to ensure the freedom of her country without losing her own sovereignty?
    great narrator
Steve West does a great job portraying Eugenides' emotions.

Used to being treated with a certain measure of wariness, if not respect, he suffers the pranks, insults, and intrigue of the Attolian court with dwindling patience. By far my favourite book in a long time.
Unique and captivating story, amazing characters. Probably the best series in terms of plot, setting, and character relationships. Narrator did a fantastic job.
    Narrator makes the story colorful.
The narrator really brings this character driven story to life. It is exciting and moving, and another great chapter in the life of Eugenides.
    Favorite Character; favorite book
    5/5; 5 stars; A+
I LOVED this book! Megan Whalen Turner has created a character of such depth and complexity in Eugenides that I am in awe. He has been revealed, bit by bit, throughout The Thief, The Queen of Attolia, and now The King of Attolia. But only now does the reader see the whole picture.
I am not normally enthused about reading books with court intrigue and political maneuvering but this book was so much more than that. It was a beautiful study in human relations, personality profiles, and my favorite, the capacity of humans to grow, change, learn, and be humbled.
I first read the paperback a few years ago and recently listened to the audio version with Steve West narrating. It does not disappoint.
    My favorite book
This is literally my favorite book of all time. Before I knew there was an audiobook I reread it on a regular basis and now I am thrilled to have another way to experience this masterpiece. Every time I revisit it I notice something new and brilliant.
    It's a good book.
This book is a good book. Actually, an outstanding one.
