If youre looking for guidance and some priority to mr kings books - this is an excellent summary. Only one i think the writer missed was Needful Things which i loved.

Rag Magazine Entertainment

Entertaining and fun but exactly how truthful it is certainly only Julia has the answers. How anyone could possibly know what is said and what goes on in intimate relationships between 2 people is nothing but gossip and guesswork. The author claims knowledge of intimate conversations between Julia and her beaus, family, and close friends. I doubt very much any or very few of these people actually talked with the author. So take it with a grain of salt and like the rag magazines read it for the entertainment like you would a novel.

Interesting insight

I obviously hoped to find this book interesting but bought it mainly as a light read while traveling. In actual fact, I found it far more fascinating and fun to read than expected. I didn't know much about Julia's life outside seeing some of her films yet somehow wasn't too surprised to read of a combination of personality complexities and tough survival instincts! It was a disappointment though when the book ended before she settled with her husband, Danny, and had their family. I feel there might be so much more to her development that would be interesting to read.

Great audio book!

I wasn't sure I would like true crime book in the audio form but to my surprise, it was really enjoyable. Just the right length for one listening session and the narrator had a nice tone for the subject. It was interesting reminiscing all these Hollywood celebrities that I grew up watching on T.V. or at the movies that had an horrible end to their life. I especially like the story about Bob Crane and John Lennon.

my take.

not much new here that I haven't read elsewhere. Also, while presented well, it's still rehashing virtually the same thing that most of us know through other reviews.

Master of the Dance

What a pleasure to read the history of an artistic man who had a long standing career in dance and acting. This biography of Fred Astaire brought back memories of movies, tv shows, and specials. It also answered questions about his dance partners and more. Starting with his parents meeting, to his career with Adele (his sister), all the way through to the end of his life. What a pleasure to have added comments from colleagues and friends and knowing the man is as pleasurable off screen.

If you have never read any books by the Charles River Editors before let this be one of your first. The Charles River Editors is a collective that does thorough research that separates facts, fiction, and myths. Any books by them is a must read.

Don't by this book!

This book was not very informative. The author read a few books on Astaire's life and put the highlights into this book. This book just skimmed the surface of his life and gave few details. For example, he said that Astaire's wife died in 1954 but didn't give any details on how she died. This lack of details is found throughout the book and leaves the reader with more questions than answers.

A concise biography

I long had many questions regarding Fred Astaire's dancing and singing career as well as his early and later personal life. This book answered all my questions and many others I hadn't thought to ask.

Interesting

They compare the differences between Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, but both as great. My thoughts are that almost anyone could learn to dance like Mr.

Very enjoyable

the story of miss Rockford life is very interesting. from the beginning of motion pictures to the talkies she ruled as queen. she also was in the business end of the movies amazing for that era.

What an incredible woman both as an actress and as a business woman. Although she had a very sad life in her later years. However, she still achieved a lot for her time. I highly recommend this book and I discovered many things I didn't know about her. he was considered as Hollywood roality.
