    Publisher's Summary:
'I was never going to sleep in and take it easy. There were worms to catch.'
In August 2015 Guy Martin crashed out of the lead of an Ulster Grand Prix superbike race held on the world's fastest racetrack. He had invasive surgery to bolt his broken spine and hand back together, and within days he decided he needed some time away from road racing. But he wasn't about to take it easy.
In his brand-new book, discover how Britain's favourite daredevil filled his time when road racing was taken out of the equation. He set about breaking records on the world's biggest Wall of Death, cycling 2,745 miles across the length of the United States (while sleeping rough), attempting to be the fastest person ever on two wheels and travelling to Latvia to investigate his family's roots.
There's some thrilling racing, too, including wild Harley choppers on dirt and turbo-charged Transit vans through the Nevada desert. And there's the day job to get back to in North Lincolnshire - the truck yard and the butty van.

please read your own book guy!
I think Guy Martin is the breath of fresh air that tv needed. normal. speaks the truth and not afraid to say how it is. disappointed that he didn't read this book. his common sense approach is amplified by his accent but is lost in translation. not knocking the bloke reading it, but it just lost some of its enthusiasm.
it's ok, if you don't want to think too much but builds up only to go limp, when you're expecting something to happen.
if he ever did technical manuals, I'm first in the queue!
can't really recommend it, wasn't loving it by the end. a bit "meh" to use guys words.
    sorry mate.
    A proper book
Honest, funny, personal. Doing things his way. This bloke is not a messer, writing in the same style he seems to approach the rest of his life. Recommend it to those who like to get after life for the journey between their own events. It's proper? Loved it. Thanks to Guy.
    Thoroughly enjoyed it...
A thoroughly entertaining and informative narration. Style of narrator matches author's which works well and gives an authentic feel. A good listen.
    Be yourself
Good. Listen! Keep on being yourself Guy that is what we love about you and why this was a most entertaining book.
    Great as Usual
Another great book from Guy! It's really refreshing in this day and age that a normal bloke can have a career like Guy's. Instead of the usual reality TV muppets we see everywhere! Who can barely string a sentence together never mind actually write there own book. The book is another year in the life of Guy and it's a year well worth knowing about!

Ian Wright, Arsenal legend, England striker and TV pundit extraordinaire, is one of the most interesting and relevant figures in modern football. His journey from a South London council estate to national treasure is everybody's dream.
From Sunday morning football directly to Crystal Palace; from 'boring, boring Arsenal' to inside the Wenger Revolution; from Saturday afternoons on the pitch to Saturday evenings on primetime television; from a week in prison to inspiring youth offenders, Ian will reveal all about his extraordinary life and career.
Ian will also frankly discuss how retirement affects footballers, why George Graham deserves a statue, social media, why music matters, breaking Arsenal's goal-scoring record, racism, the unadulterated joy of playing alongside Dennis Bergkamp and, of course, what he thinks about Tottenham.
Not a standard footballer's autobiography, Ian Wright's memoir is a thoughtful and gripping insight into a Highbury hero and one of the greatest sports stars of recent years.

    Best I've read!
Read a lot of bios recently but this one really goes behind the scenes from a young lost boy to an Arsenal hero.
Also great insight to methods and philosophy behind Arsene wenger!
Didn't want this book to end!
    Brilliant story
Fantastic story, excellent narration. A must listen for everyone. The story is a black man living in London during the 70's 80's and 90's personified.
From one of my life heros
Ian Wright lived and best of all loved and loves his life. An honest account of a privileged life i.e. that of a professional footballer. Thanks Ian I really enjoyed the book.
    Wrighty - an incredible guy
An excellent resume of Ian's life read by someone who sounded just like Wrighty, which made it more enjoyable and real. I loved his enthusiasm and the way he portrayed his life - warts and all. He gained more respect including the negative side rather than merely promoting the positives. A great man and a fabulous read.
    Loved it
I grew up in the same patch as Wrighty so this book was of interesting especially as an arsenal fan aswell. Wright was our local hero. This is very well organised, heart felt, honest and informative. A must listen /read for anyone. Especially for insights into the football world.

    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
The tumultuous and heartbreaking life of a world-famous model whose riveting story of beauty, fame, passion, murder, and madness in the Gilded Age captivated a nation.
As America was stepping into the modern era, one great beauty became the artist's model of choice. Her perfect form became the emblem of the Gilded Age and appears on the greatest monuments of New York and the nation. Supermodel, actress, icon - her beauty paved the way for a life of glamour, passion, and ultimately tragedy. She dated the millionaires of the fashionable Newport colony and became the first American movie star ever to appear naked in a film, but her promising film career collapsed; her doctor fell in love with her and killed his own wife; and on her fortieth birthday her mother committed her to an insane asylum. She remained there until her death in 1996 at the age of 104 and is now buried in an unmarked grave.
    Her name is Audrey Munson.
Many listeners will recognize Audrey Munson and have walked by her in the street without even knowing her name. She stands atop New York's Municipal Building. She sits as Miss Manhattan and Miss Brooklyn outside the Brooklyn Museum and is immortalized on the Manhattan Bridge, the Frick Mansion, the New York Public Library, and the Pulitzer Fountain outside the Plaza Hotel. In gold, bronze, and stone, she still graces bridges, skyscrapers, fountains, churches, monuments, and public buildings across the nation, from Jacksonville to San Francisco, from Atlanta to the Wisconsin state capitol.
From James Bone, the former New York bureau chief of The Times of London, this brilliantly reported investigative biography reveals for the first time the riveting truth of the forgotten life of an iconic beauty.

    Lost Interest
What would have made The Curse of Beauty better?
Leaving out parts that were unrelated to the story. It seems like he had to use fillers to write the book, and did not have enough information about Audrey Munson.
If youve listened to books by James Bone before, how does this one compare?
This is the first book, which I lost interest in and stopped listening to it.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator sounds like a robot, and made the story even more unbearable, I will not buy any other books narrated by her.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The story could have been good if he left out all tidbits we did not need to hear, and if there were a different narrator who did'nt sound like a robot.
    Any additional comments?
I wish I could get my money back!
    Fascinating
Fascinating story. Possibly a little too much detail in this book for my first encounter with Audrey. Too many names and details of their lives. I only wanted to hear about Audrey. I admit I shed a tear at the end. Sixty five years of incarceration for America's first super model. Admitted at 40 years old until her death at 104 years and 8 months old. I'll give her a nod as I pass by her form in many sculptures throughout in NYC. She should not be forgotten. What a fascinating life.
As indulgent and impressive as the Gilded Age
The voice actress was perfection! This story opened up a dark and fascinating world and era.

    Language: English
    Release date: 08-02-16
    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 7 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
The subject of the major motion picture Hands of Stone, starring Ana de Armas, Ellen Barkin, Robert De Niro, and Edgar Ramirez.
Roberto Duran is a sporting legend. Often called the greatest boxer of all time, he held world titles at four different weights and is the only boxer in history to have fought in five different decades. His bouts with fellow greats like Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, and Marvin Hagler have gone down in fistic folklore. He finally retired in January 2002 at age 52, with a professional record of 104 wins (69 by KO) in 120 fights. They called him Manos de Piedra: "Hands of Stone".
Now journalist Christian Giudice has written the first - and definitive - story of Duran's incredible life, both in and out of the ring. He has interviewed the fighter, his family, his closest friends, and scores of his opponents to separate truth from myth.
Duran was born in utter poverty in Panama and grew up in the streets, fighting to survive. His talent with his fists soon emerged, and he had his first professional fight in 1967. Duran grew into a fighter's fighter. His hunger to destroy opponents and his willingness to take on anyone, anywhere, made him a huge favorite while his flamboyant lifestyle outside the ring made headline news.
Duran was one of the first Latino fighters to become a mainstream sports star in the United States, and his natural talent, unprecedented achievements, and longevity made an indelible mark on the world of sport.
    Critic Reviews:
"A riveting read from the first page to the last." (The Ring)
"An extraordinary tale." [The Times (London)]
"A compelling book; at times it's a profoundly detailed reconstruction of Duran's world." (Gerald Early, Belles-Lettres)

    Hands of Stone
Duran is one of the best boxers of all time, in the ring he had a viciousness it was hard to rival. like many boxers, Duran had a extremely poor and tough upbringing. This book looks into his life and upbringing and how he went from a small child begging for food outside local resturants to a millionaire that always gave back to his roots.

    Publisher's Summary:
Oprah Winfrey is an American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, which was the highest-rated program of its kind in history and was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2011. Dubbed the "Queen of All Media", she has been ranked the richest African-American of the 20th century and the greatest black philanthropist in American history. Several assessments regard her as the most influential woman in the world. In 2013, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama and honorary doctorate degrees from Duke and Harvard.
Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother and later raised in an inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. She has stated that she was molested during her childhood and early teens and became pregnant at 14; her son died in infancy. Sent to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee, Winfrey landed a job in radio while still in high school and began co-anchoring the local evening news at the age of 19. Her emotional ad-lib delivery eventually got her transferred to the daytime-talk-show arena, and after boosting a third-rated local Chicago talk show to first place, she launched her own production company and became internationally syndicated.

The narrator is weird but her story is powerful
It is a very short book, just a total of 18 mins. So it is very high level. The reader speaks in a very high pitch so is weird. But it's good to get a high level overview about her life. I truly admire her.

    Author: Larry Loftis
    Narrator: Eric G. Dove
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 18 mins

    Release date: 06-14-16
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 103 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
James Bond has nothing on Dusko Popov. A double agent for the Abwehr, MI5 and MI6, and the FBI during World War II, Popov seduced numerous women, spoke five languages, and was a crack shot, all while maintaining his cover as a Yugoslavian diplomat....
On a cool August evening in 1941, a Serbian playboy created a stir at Casino Estoril in Portugal by throwing down an outrageously large baccarat bet to humiliate his opponent. The Serbian was a British double agent, and the money - which he had just stolen from the Germans - belonged to the British. From the sideline, watching with intent interest, was none other than Ian Fleming.
The Serbian was Dusko Popov. As a youngster he had been expelled from his London prep school. Years later he would be arrested and banished from Germany for making derogatory statements about the Third Reich. When World War II ensued, the playboy became a spy, eventually serving three dangerous masters: the Abwehr, MI5 and MI6, and the FBI.
On August 10, 1941, the Germans sent Popov to the United States to construct a spy network and gather information on Pearl Harbor. The FBI ignored his German questionnaire, but J. Edgar Hoover succeeded in blowing his cover. While MI5 desperately needed Popov to deceive the Abwehr about the D-day invasion, they assured him that a return to the German secret service headquarters in Lisbon would result in torture and execution. He went anyway....
Into the Lion's Mouth is a globe-trotting account of a man's entanglement with espionage, murder, assassins, and lovers - including enemy spies and a Hollywood starlet. It is a story of subterfuge and seduction, patriotism, and cold-blooded courage. It is the story of Dusko Popov - the inspiration for James Bond.

    Held my interest
Good story, well read. The story Held my interest from beginning to end. It is a true spy story
    Tantalizing History
Extraordinarily detailed with non stop intrigue. I couldn't stop listening. Never had I thought about the sacrifices and difficulties that a spy would have to endure. Also, found the sections concerning J. Edgar Hoover both facinating and infuriating. I wish all history was a thrilling as this book.
    very dry ....
Would you try another book from Larry Loftis and/or Eric G. Dove?
    no.
Would you be willing to try another book from Larry Loftis? Why or why not?
this was too dry of a read, not interesting.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I dunno but I couldn't keep my attention on it. I read War and Peace, no problem, but this was a real bore
    Amazing Spy Story
If you ever read a true life spy story, make it this one. This man was incredibly courageous, intelligent and highly skilled at his craft. The James Bond comparison doesn't do him justice but is a good indication of his life. The story is a bit hard to follow at times but well worth it. The narrator did a great job and made it easy to listen to. This book is highly recommended to anyone who likes true life stories.
Never Thought James Bond Could be Boring
Reads like a history textbook. I usually try to push thorough slower chapters in books that cover exciting subject matter, but this was a complete snore-fest.

I have had the idea of writing a book for a while now, and the beauty of the Internet is that anyone can put their work out there - websites, workout videos, books - freely without having to navigate through the traditional gatekeepers of self-expression. The most important part of putting this out is your response; I know I can get a lot better at this writing thing, and your critiques will be my first step in doing so. What you are about to hear is my story as a basketball player - only as it pertains to basketball - from the time I began playing the game up to and through my college years. It is to be hoped that you find it interesting, insightful, descriptive, and entertaining. If so, you should tell me. If you don't, I want to know about that too, and why. Speak your mind. Enjoy. #WOYG

    Well done!
Dre Baldwin's narration of Buy A Game was excellent. I enjoyed it so much I started it over to listen along with my 13 year old son, a football player who will start high school next year. Dre's story is down to earth and relatable while being uplifting and full of encouragement. I've listened to two of Dre's audio books and am eagerly awaiting the next audio book!
A wonderful story of a unfamous basketball player
Meet Dre Baldwin, an internet personality who teaches about life and basketball on Youtube.
Dre tells a story that many young men could relate to - the dream to be a super sport-star, only in Dre case and that of most people, they are not good enough to reach the top, that is the NBA.
Dre is different from most in that he hangs on, and pursues his dream despite the obstacles, and the telling signs that he has no game.
The story goes from his childhood, to high school, and eventually college.
Dre talks about the challenges and intrigue of trying to become a better sports athlete. Throughout the book we are rooting for him, despite the many constant disappointment he faces on his way to the NBA. Does he get to the NBA? Well listen to the book to find out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this easy listening biography by Dre, and hope he come out with similar stuff in the future.

    Publisher: Penguin Audio

    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
The untold and inspiring story of Eric Liddell, hero of Chariots of Fire, from his Olympic medal to his missionary work in China to his last brave years in a Japanese work camp during WWII.
Many people will remember Eric Liddell as the Olympic gold medalist from the Academy Award-winning film Chariots of Fire. Famously, Liddell would not run on Sunday because of his strict observance of the Christian Sabbath, and so he did not compete in his signature event, the 100 meters, at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He was the greatest sprinter in the world at the time, and his choice not to run was ridiculed by the British Olympic committee, his fellow athletes, and most of the world press. Yet Liddell triumphed in a new event, winning the 400 meters in Paris.
Liddell ran - and lived - for the glory of his god. After winning gold, he dedicated himself to missionary work. He travelled to China to work in a local school and as a missionary. He married and had children there. By the time he could see war on the horizon, Liddell put Florence, his pregnant wife, and his children on a boat to Canada while he stayed behind, his conscience compelling him to stay among the Chinese. He and thousands of other Westerners were eventually interned at a Japanese work camp.
Once imprisoned, Liddell did what he was born to do: practice his faith and his sport. He became the moral center of an unbearable world. He was the hardest worker in the camp, he counseled many of the other prisoners, he gave up his own meager portion of meals many days, and he organized games for the children there. He even raced again. For his ailing, malnourished body, it was all too much. Liddell died of a brain tumor just before the end of the war. His passing was mourned around the world, and his story still inspires.
In the spirit of The Boys in the Boat and Unbroken, For the Glory is both a compelling narrative of athletic heroism and a gripping story of faith in the darkest circumstances.
    Members Reviews:
    Wonderful and Inspiring
A remarkable real work about a remarkable and very real man of faith. The audiobook was flawlessly produced and everything needed to bring Eric Liddell alive.
    To live for Christ
The faith of many great men is lost. Thank you for this book. God bless all who were involved.
The challenge of a life lived for God's Glory
The strength of this biography, beyond the fact that Eric Liddell's life is worth writing about, may be that it is not, strictly speaking, a Christian book. The author does not seem to write from a strictly faith perspective. He simply relates the facts of Liddell's life as they are, without any attempt to "spiritualized" them. The result is an unvarnished telling of a remarkably unblemished life. Humility, selflessness, devotion to God - Eric Liddell apparently reflected each of them in a manner so consistent and sincere that it is impossible to deny them.
By the time you reach the epilogue of Hamilton's work, you are realize how rare such individuals as Liddell are. You wonder whether you can live as he did if you saw God as great as he saw Him, and desired to live unto Him the way he did.

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 97 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Susan Calman is a well-known comedian and writer who has appeared on countless radio and television programmes. Her solo stand up show, Susan Calman Is Convicted, was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and dealt with subjects like the death penalty, appearance and depression.
The reaction to the show she wrote about mental health was so positive that she wanted to expand on the show and write a more detailed account of surviving when you're the world's most negative person.
The Crab of Hate is the personification of Calman's depression and her version of the notorious Black Dog. A constant companion in her life, the Crab has provided her with the best and very worst of times.
This is a very personal memoir of how, after many years and with a lot of help and talking, she has embraced her dark side and realised that she can be the most joyous sad person you'll ever meet.
Cheer Up Love is funny, poignant and (hopefully) informative. It's always good to talk.
    Critic Reviews:

    Honest, Courageous, Warm and Funny!
This is one of the very best books Ive ever read about depression and I have read *many.*
Susan bravely opens her life and shares her experience with us, the good, the bad, and the ugly. With her trademark wit (usually heard on the BBC), she gives us a very real, very grounded, very passionate insight into what its like to live inside her head.
As someone who has lived with clinical depression for decades, I found myself nodding time and again, and saying exactly! out loud. This is a great book for someone who lives with depression it will make you feel understood, and less alone but its perhaps even better as a gift to help someone understand what its like to experience depression.
Considering that her public image is her livelihood, I'm truly in awe of her willingness to reveal herself warts-and-all; the brutal candor with which she shares her faults, failures and struggles. As we share her journey to recovery, and to the great place where she is now, we can gain solace and support for our own journeys.
Its a very inspiring book, and it will leave you with a solid foundation of hope and optimism. I cant recommend it highly enough.
Thank you, Susan, for everything youve put into this.
As poignant as it is humorous...
Amazing listen by a courageous woman determined to overcome obstacles-- both internal and external-- to live a full life, and eager to help others do the same. If you have ever felt "less than", depressed or anxious, or jyst plain stuck, this is for you.
