Length: 8 hrs and 25 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher's Summary:
John McEnroe's long-awaited follow-up to his best seller.
He is one of the most controversial and beloved athletes in history, a tennis legend and a volcanic, mesmerizing presence. But after reaching the top of his game - what came next? Fifteen years after his international number-one best seller You Cannot Be Serious, John McEnroe is back and ready to talk.
Now the undisputed elder statesman of tennis, McEnroe has won over his critics as a brilliant commentator at the US Open, Wimbledon, and other Grand Slam tournaments - with outspoken views on the modern game, its top players, and the world of 21st-century sport and celebrity. Who are the game's winners and losers? What's it like playing guitar onstage with the Rolling Stones, hitting balls with today's greats, confronting his former on-court nemeses, getting scammed by an international art dealer, and raising a big family while balancing McEnroe-size expectations?
In But Seriously, John McEnroe confronts his demons and reveals his struggle to reinvent himself from champion and tennis legend to father, broadcaster, and author. The result is a richly personal account, blending anecdote and reflection with razor sharp and brutally honest opinions, all in McEnroe's signature style. This is the sports book of the year: wildly entertaining, very funny, surprisingly touching, and 100 percent McEnroe.

"An autobiography that's as gloriously colorful as [John McEnroe] is." (San Diego Union-Tribune)

    Seriously, This Is Worth Reading
Listening to this book was a fascinating trip into John McEnroe's egocentric but absolutely entitled view of the world as one of the most successful tennis players of our generation. Having read autobiographies of rock stars and actors, I was a little surprised by how many really famous people McEnroe considers his close friends. However he is still a father of six grown children, trying hard to be loving, and firm while sharing many of the same problems facing other parents (who aren't multimillionaires!). While I found the book a little hard to listen to, since I had been used to only listening to John McEnroe when he was broadcasting during exciting tennis matches. I found his story to be be incredibly compelling. And after I finished listening to "But Seriously", I bought a hard copy of his earlier book, You Cannot Be Serious to refresh my memory of his early life, marriage to Tatum O' Neal and his extraordinary tennis career. I'm not sure if his earlier book is on Audible but I'd recommend reading them both!
    AWFUL
Couldn't get through this narcissistic look at a social incompetent's life after fame. The performance by John is bad but his wife's is insufferable. I love John on the court. He's my professional athlete hero but this is disappointing and just bad. I'd rather listen to the windshield wipers. Sorry John.
    McEnroe at His Best
If you love listening to John McEnroe share stories as a TV commentator - You will absolutely love this book!
    completely useless
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I don't know who can enjoy this book.

The stand-up comedian of his generation. Star of stage and screen. Tireless supporter of charity. Runner. Political campaigner. Fashion icon. Human. There is no one quite like Eddie Izzard. This is the story of how a boy who wanted to become a professional footballer and win the lead in Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat found comedy.
Affecting, witty and nothing less than rousing, listeners will, as Eddie himself says, 'look at my life and say, "If that idiot transvestite can run a whole bunch of marathons, play the Hollywood Bowl, and travel across France with a French-speaking tour, then what's holding me back?"'

    Best audio book ever!
Reading my favorite comic's biography was illuminating and hilarious but what I recommend above all is the audiobook, narrated by the master himself, with loads and loads of extra material and his wonderful delivery, it provided me with houds of joy.
    Funny as hell
IF you like Eddie Izzard's humor this is a very good listen; he reads it as only he can. Lots of extra and live footnoting. Laughed often and smiled the whole time!
This is a biase review I have been a fan of Eddie.
I liked this for the honesty and candid nature of his narrative. I love the quarky sense of humour. Genuinely worth the time.
Wonderfully funny, tragic, hopeful and inspiring
I love Eddie Izzard, and if you too are a fan of his work and particularly his shows, you will not be disappointed by this audiobook. Being narrated by himself, Eddie owns what he reads and frequently engages you with extra commentary you wont find in the written book. This is partly because he is brave enough to tell you from the start that he is dyslexic. Yes, he stumbles over some bits, but this only draws you in further until you are almost vocally cheering him on and giving your smartphone (or favoured device) a big hug. Some parts are brutally sad, so be warned if you are listening to this book in public. But you will equally benefit from a tissue or three in your pocket for the absolutely hillarious jokes and anecdotes. In summary, get this audiobook.
a funny and touching tonic to hard times.
The audio book is the only way, in my opinion, to experience Eddie Izzard's autobiography. The scattergun approach to telling of his life story, pulling in footnotes and anecdotes from across all of time just makes sense when read by the man himself. there are also several extra asides that obviously come to Eddie in the moment and are not present in the written text. there are many instances of repetition in the book, which may be irritating for some but for fans of the surreal stories in Mr Izzard's stand up are par for the course. I thoroughly recommend this book it is a funny and touching account of one of the most persistent and resilient men in show business that has operated as a tonic to me, who needed a timely reminder of what perseverance and self belief can do.

    Publisher's Summary:
What makes a life truly interesting? Is it the people you meet? The risks you take? The adventures you remember?
Jonathan Goldsmith has many answers to that question. For years he was a struggling actor in New York and Los Angeles, with experiences that included competing for roles with Dustin Hoffman, getting shot by John Wayne, drinking with Tennessee Williams, and sailing the high seas with Fernando Lamas, never mind romancing many lovely ladies along the way.
However, it wasn't all fun and games for Jonathan. Frustrated with his career, he left Hollywood for other adventures in business and life. But then, a fascinating opportunity came his way - a chance to star in a new campaign for Dos Equis beer. A role he was sure he wasn't right for, but he gave it a shot all the same. Which led to the role that would bring him the success that had so long eluded him - that of "The Most Interesting Man in the World".
A memoir told through a series of adventures and the lessons he's learned and wants to pass on, Stay Interesting is a truly daring and bold tale and a manifesto about taking chances, not giving up, making courageous choices, and living a truly adventurous and always interesting life.

    What a life!
the author's life was filled with so many twists and turns, and just like he said much more like a roller coaster ride and adventure. The story is an example of how people never up and how taking the advice of the parent will give them the vision to continue no matter what. And enjoyable story many times hard to believe but certainly much more interesting than the commercials themselves.
turns out he IS the world's most inyeresting man
Jonathan Goldsmith, aka The World's Most Interesting Man, has a story worth readinh. life changing.
    I stayed interested
A collection of personal anecdotes telling the more colorful parts of his life and how they all added up to making him the most interesting man in the world. I found some of the earlier parts to be a bit slow but once he began his acting career the book kicked into high gear. Still missing major parts of his life and how he made millions only to lose it. Also doesn't say anything about him becoming a father to five children until the very end and then as an afterthought - perhaps because parenting is the end of being cool/interesting.
    Truly an Interesting Story
Jonathan Goldsmith has had a truly fascinating life as an actor and a man and his successes, failures, and adventures are laid bare here as it's explained how he became, truly, "The Most Interesting Man in the World." The reading was wonderful, his self narration shows his talent as an actor in and of itself, and the story had me laughing often alongside some choked up moments as well. Highly recommended.
    Wonderful!
Entertaining, I enjoyed the commercials and often wondered about the actor behind them, interesting, unique life stories and facts and tidbits of his life and adventures are shared by him in this book, I enjoyed every minute!

    No Kawahi Leonard
I am a San Antonio Spurs fan, so I am no fan of Steph Curry. My nephew, who also lives in Spurs country, has had his mind poisoned to the extent where Steph is his favorite player. I keep trying to sell him on Kawahi, but he is obviously stubborn like my sister. It was a gift and he did liked it, so I guess that is all that matters in this case.

    Title: The Flight
Subtitle: Charles Lindbergh's Daring and Immortal 1927 Transatlantic Crossing

Length: 8 hrs and 58 mins

    Publisher: HarperAudio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 38 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
A gripping and unique in-the-cockpit account of Charles Lindbergh's extraordinary first transatlantic flight from New York to Paris, by acclaimed aviation historian and former fighter pilot Dan Hampton - "one of the most decorated pilots in Air Force history" (New York Post).
America's finest aviation story in the hands of our finest aviation historian, The Flight is Dan Hampton's biggest, most dramatic book yet.
On the morning of May 20, 1927, a little-known pilot named Charles Lindbergh waited to take off from Roosevelt Field on Long Island. He was determined to claim the $25,000 Orteig Prize promised to the first pilot to fly nonstop from New York to Paris - a contest that had already claimed six men's lives. Just 25 years old, Lindbergh had never before flown over water. Yet 33 hours later, his single-engine monoplane, The Spirit of St. Louis, touched down in Paris. Overnight, Charles Lindbergh became the most famous aviator of all time.
The Flight is a long overdue flyer's-eye-view look at Lindbergh's legendary journey. Decorated fighter pilot and best-selling author Dan Hampton offers a unique appreciation for Lindbergh's accomplishment: Hampton has flown the exact same route many times, knowledge that informs and shapes The Flight. Relying upon a trove of primary sources, including Lindbergh's own personal diary and writings, Hampton crafts a dramatic narrative of a challenging, death-defying feat that many had believed was impossible.
Moving hour by hour, Hampton recounts Lindbergh's uncertainty over his equipment and his courage as he traverses the vast darkness of the Atlantic with no radar. Moving between the sky and ground, Hampton intersperses the tale of the flight with Lindbergh's personal history as well as some of the stories of those waiting for him on the ground, praying he would make it safely across.

    Rehash
I've read several books on Lindbergh and his flight. I thought there was entirely too much filler in this book. Some was interesting but the interruption of the story of the flight was distracting.
Gripping account of his life - focus on "Flight"
Well written and performed. It seems that if you want to know truth of Lindbergh's flight - in excellent, full 3D detail this is the book for you! Being a pilot myself it was great to hear Lindbergh's life and the details of his historic flight from a famous fighter pilot that lives in the cockpit and shares from that special perspective..
    Rich Kid Novice Pilot
Wow! I did not know Lindburgh was a novice flyer who was just rich. He got his plane built specifically to cross Atlantic and he really could not fail. Europe is hard to miss if you understand a compass.
    Another great one!
    Any additional comments?
Dan Hampton is an incredible author. I'm a professional pilot and his books are top notch for aviation buffs. John Pruden does total justice to Hamptons books. In fact, it's hard to imagine listening to a Dan Hampton effort with any other voice.
Lindbergh Was A Very Interesting Person
Lindbergh Was A Very Interesting Person
I learned a lot I didn't know about his flight across the Atlantic but I also felt that his life after his accomplishment was touched upon but was not described as well as it could have been.

    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 118 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
It's rare that an actor embodies even one memorable character over the arc of a career. Jeffrey Tambor has managed to create three, beginning with Hank "Hey Now!" Kingsley on The Larry Sanders Show, the series created by Garry Shandling, Jeffrey's first mentor in television. He went on to find two more show creators, Mitch Hurwitz of Arrested Development and Jill Soloway of Transparent, who shared a love of actors and taught him a lot about acting along the way.
Are You Anybody? is Tambor's chance to discuss his creative process and immense accomplishments from a life lived onscreen. Drawing from his formative childhood years, in which he describes himself as a fat Hungarian Jewish kid with a lisp and a depressive father, to how he drew inspiration from his life to create these characters, Tambor's memoir is funny, insightful, and uplifting, touching on comedy and the enduring chutzpah required to make it through life.
    Critic Reviews:
"Tambor is an actor's actor, and his audiobook should appeal to anyone who is fascinated by the work of artists, particularly one with his stature.... Throughout his audiobook, Tambor maps his journey with a welcoming, engaging, and always entertaining voice. He's a seasoned pro telling stories of his career, but he remains self-effacing throughout." (AudioFile)

    Jeffrey, You Are Somebody
A surprisingly "enthralling" (read to find out why I chose that word), personal, and loving memoir, "Are You Somebody" is a tale of life lessons, triumphs, and failures generously shared by Jeffrey Tambor. Jeffrey provides deep insight into the career path of a real actor, and lovingly reflects on the positive and negative influences in his life. A difficult family life, stage mishaps, and an unfortunate stint with Scientology, all shaped his craft and his perspective.
Jeffrey provides a sincere narration that made it impossible for me to stop listening, and so I did a rare thing - and listened straight through to the end. Looking for my next memoir / bio to read, but knowing I will be slightly disappointed after being treated to Are You Anybody.
    Amazing!
Tambour's life is filled with hilarity, angst, a horrible mother and great stories. I highly recommend this book. Fantastic.
    A well read biography
I found this book to be heartfelt and bittersweet. it is well read by Jeffrey Tambor. I can hear the sadness, the smiling, the fuckem, and the admiration he has for those who taught and/or inspired him in his craft.
Thank you, Kasha, for keeping him around for us. Jeffery, Mr. Tambor (the auto correct keeps correcting to Talbot, FYI), thank you for the work you've done these many years. You are an icon.
A Charming Man, An Interesting Life
I like it when folks narrate their own books, and Mr Tamblor is delightful! I particularly loved his childhood story of his red bowtie, and his recounting of everything Transparent/Maura Pffeferman. Listen!
    Really great stories.
I loved the stories he tells about getting into to show business. It's a shame he had such a sad childhood. But he did overcome it.

    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
An insightful portrait of Muhammed Ali from the New York Times best-selling author of At the Altar of Speed and The Big Bam. It centers on the cultural and political implications of Ali's refusal of service in the military - and the key moments in a life that was as high profile and transformative as any in the 20th century.
With the death of Muhammad Ali in June 2016, the media and America in general have remembered a hero, a heavyweight champion, an Olympic gold medalist, an icon, and a man who represents the sheer greatness of America. New York Times best-selling author Leigh Montville goes deeper, with a fascinating chronicle of a story that has been largely untold.
Muhammad Ali, in the late 1960s, was young, successful, brash, and hugely admired - but with some reservations. He was bombastic and cocky in a way that captured the imagination of America but also drew its detractors. He was a bold young African American in an era when few people were as outspoken. He renounced his name - Cassius Clay - as being his 'slave name' and joined the Nation of Islam, renaming himself Muhammad Ali. And finally, in 1966, after being drafted, he refused to join the military for religious and conscientious reasons, triggering a fight that was larger than any of his bouts in the ring. What followed was a period of legal battles, of cultural obsession, and in some ways of being the very embodiment of the civil rights movement located in the heart of one man.
Muhammad Ali was the tip of the arrow, and Leigh Montville brilliantly assembles all the boxing, the charisma, the cultural and political shifting tides, and ultimately the enormous waft of entertainment that always surrounded Ali. Sting Like a Bee: Muhammed Ali vs. the United States of America, 1966-1971is an important and incredibly engaging book.

    Publisher's Summary:
The golden age of Hollywood, a young British actor, a love affair, and a tragedy. Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool is the touching story of the last days of a Hollywood icon.
On September 29, 1981, Peter Turner received a phone call that would change his life. His former lover, Hollywood actress Gloria Grahame, had collapsed in a Lancaster hotel and was refusing medical attention. He took her into his chaotic and often eccentric family's home in Liverpool to see her through her last days. Though their affair had ended years before, it was to him that she turned in her final hour of need.
Taking place over the course of three weeks in Turner's larger-than-life working-class family home, Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool is an affectionate, moving, and wryly humorous memoir of friendship, love, and stardom.
    Members Reviews:
Slight but Touching Memoir of Gloria Grahame's Final Days
Budding actor Peter Turner met Oscar-winning actress Gloria Grahame in 1978. Having moved to England to star in a play, she was 55 and two decades beyond her Hollywood heyday (starring in The Big Heat, Oklahoma! and The Bad and the Beautiful). Grahame's friendship with Turner became romantic despite their 30-year age difference, and the two traveled to California and New York.
In 1980, Grahame was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she refused to treat. Instead of telling Turner, she broke up with him. FILM STARS DON'T DIE IN LIVERPOOL, Turner's slim, sad and heartfelt memoir, begins in 1981 when Grahame reenters his life after a year apart. She now has stomach cancer and a week to live. Turner, still living at home, takes her into his family's overstuffed house and comes to grips with her impending death.
The memoir covers both the chaos in the Turner home caring for the dying actress (still refusing medical care) and flashbacks to Turner and Grahame's relationship. Turner is remarkably candid about his callow 29-year-old self (he leaves the dying woman in the care of his mother and siblings one night while he meets friends for drinks), but then surprisingly reticent on Grahame's earlier life. She divorced filmmaker Nicholas Ray and later married his 23-year-old son (her ex-stepson); Turner blithely notes, "It was a family of complicated relationships."
Originally published in 1986, this reissue contains a new final chapter, in which Turner offers perspective three decades later on his touching tribute to the brave but complicated woman he loved. (The new chapter includes the revelation that Turner considers his sexuality as "fluid" which will give many readers an "Ah-ha!" moment about why there's very little physical intimacy mentioned in the book between the two.) Peter Turner's touching and heartfelt memoir remembers the tragic last days of his former girlfriend, Oscar-winning actress Gloria Grahame.
    Great for old movie buffs
    3.5 out of 5 stars
I won this book from GoodReads and then quite by coincidence, I watched The Bad and the Beautiful last weekend. That movie is the movie that Gloria Grahame won her Oscar for. She was quite the actress and a name that probably a lot of people donât know about. I think you might remember her from Oklahoma! as Ado Annie. (a role that she wasnât thrilled with because she really couldnât sing) This book tells the story of her very last days.

    Publisher's Summary:
Diana: Closely Guarded Secret became a best seller on both sides of the Atlantic.
As a member of Scotland Yard's elite Royalty Protection Department, Inspector Ken Wharfe was personal protection officer - in other words, bodyguard - to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, during the years that saw the final breakdown of her marriage and her separation from Prince Charles.
In that time he became a close friend and trusted confidant who shared her most private moments. His intimate firsthand account provides an affectionate, if not always uncritical, insight into this complex, troubled, but ultimately deeply fascinating woman.
Packed with anecdotes - and now revised with a new chapter containing material about Diana's so-called 'rock', her butler, Paul Burrell - this extraordinary account is the most intimate portrait of Diana to date and a record of the events that unfolded around her during the most crucial period of her life.

    Facts are questionable
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The author is the narrator and his delivery is very good (maybe it's just because of his great British accent). I'm suspect of all of the facts in his books (especially since many credible people have proven him wrong), but it was still interesting to relive parts of her life. I don't agree that anyone in his position (law enforcement protection of any political or VIP person) should ever write a book about anything that occurs in private. Ever. I thought the book would be more of a historical walk down memory lane, not a book about private conversations (alleged conversations). I think when people in his position reveal behind the scenes information, they put the safety of their coworkers, former coworkers, and the people they protect in grave danger because it destroys trust between the protected and the protectors. The safety of those people depend on trust.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ken Wharfe again?
No. He does little to contain the bitterness in his voice when his relationship with Diana and the royals began to fall apart.
Was Diana: Closely Guarded Secret worth the listening time?
Not really. I would not recommend the book despite all of the great reviews.
    Excellent
I've read a lot about Princess Diana over the years but this book stands out from the others. You get the good, the bad, and the ugly, but written with great respect. To me it was a no-nonsense account of a complicated person. I will always feel sad about her tragic end, as do many others.
I also like the fact that the author didn't demonize Prince Charles, in fact, I don't recall him trashing anyone. I know Prince Charles isn't a saint but I'm glad the author didn't resort to what some people do to sell books (trashy gossip etc) From all I've read about the Royals I think parts of Charles' life have not been easy for him, either. Who knows what would have happened if he'd been able to marry Camilla when he wanted to as a young man? Diana may still be alive. We'll never know of course.
The author did a very good job reading his work. My only wish is that it were longer but he was employed by Diana for only a couple of years so there isn't much more to say I imagine.
    A good listen.

She is amazingly candid! You will enjoy listening for hours.
Thanks for publishing this audio AS IT IS.
    Fun if Joan Fan
Interesting to hear Joan narrate and the views and trends of social etiquette 1970 style
    Her way
I loved that Joan Crawford herself read this book. At times you could hear her turning pages, or traffic noises outside. I won't say that I agree with her way of life, but I did find it very interesting. If you are a fan of this amazing lady, you will want to listen to this book in her voice and in her own words.
    I loved it
I especially liked how it was being ready by Ms Crawford herself. very nice touch to the experience.
    Not worth the money
The only thing I enjoyed about this book was hearing it in the voice of Joan Crawford.. I didn't care much for the thought on Joan Crawford's Jell-O molds or the colors she chose for her home.. I was definitely expecting something different from this book I was not at all satisfied there were a few good stories of her life in her own words in the book but very few it's mostly about her extravagant parties how to treat your guests and so on.. it's very boring book..
