Good content, but hard to listen to
The guy who reads this does a terrible job of breaking up sentences and thoughts. He reads it like one never-ending run-on sentence.
Very Good Companion Book to "Traction"
Very good. Companion book to "Traction", one of my top-three-ranked all-time business books. A well-written, very realistic (it's basically what we've experienced over the past two years) fictional account of a company getting itself organized using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Of you are interested, call me at Hunter Rowe Real Estate or search "Ben Goetz" on Google and call him, he is our "EOS Implementer".
    this is a great fable
while it is difficult to apply the theoretical book this fiction make it easier to imagine real scenarios and apply traction proceeds step by step
Fast reader, not much of a fable
I got much more out of the actual "Traction" book. This "fable" is more like minutes from a business meeting than an actual story. Tough to get through. Plus the narrator was pretty speedy-- tough to follow.
    Great for small business
This book is perfectly aligned to small business owners and managers. It's practical and actionable.

    Higghly motivational
Very good book. I very much enjoyed all the concepts presented and how they they were laid out. Highly recommended.
    Good Emotional Intelligence Book
    Any additional comments?
Most of this book is purely emotional intelligence topic or at least that what I felt. Yet, there is a distinctive touch of corporates orientation topics. I guess the best advise is if you've read many emotional intelligence books then this book won't add much to you. And vice versa, if like you emotional intelligence topics but not read much, then this book will be helpful to get you emotional intelligence knowledge plus corporate-oriented emotional intelligence.
    Good process
the author outlines a concise process to set and stay focused on your goals without getting overwhelmed. I would recommend anyone give this book a chance for 6 months and see how it works for you.
    Life-Changing
I have read and listened to many books on personal development. This is one of the absolute best. The title really doesn't do the content justice. The information in this book is actionable, useful, and powerful.
    Orwellian-Level Mind Slaughter (OLMS?)
I normally avoid (like a prose plague) ALL business, leadership, self-help, and strategy books, etc., because I find them universally to be poorly written and filled with an almost boundless and unbearable number of cliches, hyperbole, etc..
I was given this book by a co-worker and felt compelled to read it.

    Good book
The book meet my expectations and I was most impressed with the chapter on teams. The narrator does a great job of reading some difficult sections (equations) in a way that makes it understandable.
    Should be a PDF attachment
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
It will be a good movie
    Any additional comments?
I just start listening and it was not long until I realized something is missing. The Author
refers to graphs and exhibitions that are most likely in the hard copy book, but are not attached to this audio book. I can not rate the whole work overall since I have not completed the book.
    Just ok
Has too much diversity crap in it saying how it's good without giving a reason why. Diversity for diversity sake. Some of the econ in the early part is pretty weak. Too much demand side "keynesian Econ".

    Title: The Trust Edge
Subtitle: How Top Leaders Gain Faster Results, Deeper Relationships, and a Strong Bottom Line
    Author: David Horsager
    Narrator: David Horsager
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 42 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-09-12
    Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 83 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
In The Trust Edge, David Horsager reveals the foundation of genuine success - trust. Based on research but made practical for todays leader, The Trust Edge shows that trust is quantifiable and brings dramatic results to businesses and leaders. In this book, Horsager teaches listeners how to build the 8 Pillars of Trust:
    1. Clarity: People trust the clear and mistrust the ambiguous.
    2. Compassion: People put faith in those who care beyond themselves.
    3. Character: People notice those who do what is right over what is easy.
    4. Competency: People have confidence in those who stay fresh, relevant, and capable.
    5. Commitment: People believe in those who stand through adversity.
    6. Connection: People want to follow, buy from, and be around friends.
    7. Contribution: People immediately respond to results.
    8. Consistency: People love to see the little things done consistently.
When leaders learn how to implement these pillars, they enjoy better relationships, reputations, retention, revenue, and results. Fascinating and timely, The Trust Edge unveils how trust has the ability to accelerate or destroy any business, organization, or relationship. The lower the trust, the more time everything takes, the more everything costs, and the lower the loyalty of everyone involved. Conversely, an environment of trust leads to greater innovation, morale, and productivity. The trusted leader is followed. From the trusted salesperson, people will buy. For the trusted brand, people will pay more, come back, and tell others. Trust, not money, is the currency of business and life!

Leans Too Much On An Academic & Theory
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Personally the audio made too much use of reference to the book e.g. as shown in diagram x, and also too much reference to theory. This overuse of these two items made it hard to get a flow for the topics being discussed.
Has Leading in a Culture of Change turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I've bought and thoroughly enjoyed others in this genre, and as a leadership development practitioner I know what I'm looking for.
How could the performance have been better?
Less reference to diagrams in the book. More on real-world implementation and a different reading energy level.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
    To return it.
    Any additional comments?
    No.
Must read / listen ( audible book)
The author does a great job at simplicity if writing and addressing important leadership qualities. I especially enjoy the references and referenced material throughout the text. Far better than the books that are full anecdotes. I also appreciate how he stresses the importance of daily learning, slow learning in the context of one's present organization. He redefines or at least introduces the reader to the idea that dissent and conflict is not bad and that life is not chaotic but complex. Very easy to listen
    Unimpressive
I don't think any of Fuller's ideas regarding how to lead in a culture of change are very novel. Personally, I felt the book was full of clichés. I was not a fan.

    Publisher's Summary:
A 'textbook with passion', Hardwiring Excellence offers a road map and practical how-to guide for creating and sustaining a culture of service and operational excellence. In this book, author Quint Studer, founder of Studer Group, draws on his personal experience as a former hospital executive who led two organizations to the top 1% in patient satisfaction and his experience coaching hundreds of healthcare organizations since.
Studer, a nationally acclaimed educator, coach, and thought leader in healthcare today, is a master storyteller, mixing 'chicken soup style' stories with personal insight, simple tools, and in-depth recommendations on how good organizations can become great ones.
Based on Studer Group's Nine Principles SM, Quint Studer shows how to retain more employees; ensure better customer service; build strong leadership, align organizational values, goals, and results; increase communication; reward and recognize individual success while also requiring accountability; and move operational performance for better financials, market share, and growth.

    Excellent
I learned a lot on this book and started applying them in my practice. I'm excited to see the results as we hardwired excellence in our organization.
    Heart, theory, and practice!
I've ready many "complete theory" business books, from The Great Game to EMyth to Rockefeller Habits, etc. This one has tactics very focused on healthcare, but the principles are broadly applicable. None other I've ready seems to get people and the power of intrinsic motivation like this one. So many good points: excellent stories, clear tactics, a unified and simple system, and a true focus on balanced outcomes for all stakeholders. This is not pie in the sky. It is clearly born of very deep practical experience with hundreds of organizations over decades.
    Wonderful message...
Validated my time spent on relationship building is valuable and it's not just my perception...and what I do is "rounding"!
    Excellent book!
I found this book enjoyable and easy to listen to. Definitely a plus to implement this material in any organization.
    Mostly for health care management
This book is definitely aimed at health care management, but was both interesting and understandable to us ordinary mortals too. The performance was excellent.

    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
The title says it all: carrots and sticks don't work.
Reward and recognition programs can be costly and inefficient, and they primarily reward employees who are already highly engaged and productive performers. Worse still, these programs actually decrease employee motivation, because they can make individual recognition, rather than the overall success of the team, the goal. Yet many businesses turn to these measures first - unaware of a better alternative.
So, when it comes to changing your organizational culture, carrots and sticks don't work! What does work is Dr. Paul Marciano's acclaimed RESPECT model, which gives you specific, low-cost, turnkey solutions and action plans-- based on seven key drivers of employee engagement that are proven and supported by decades of research and practice - that will empower you to assess, troubleshoot, and resolve engagement issues in the workplace:
Carrots and Sticks Don't Work delivers the same proven resources and techniques that have enabled trainers, executives, managers, and owners at operations ranging from branches of the United States government to Fortune 500 corporations to 20-person outfits to realize demonstrable gains in employee productivity and job satisfaction.
When you give a little RESPECT, you get a more effective organization with reduced turnover and absenteeism and employees at all levels who are engaged, focused, and committed to succeed as a team. In short, you get maximum ROI from your organization's most powerful resource: its people!
    Members Reviews:
    Good ideas, awful narrator
Is there anything you would change about this book?
    The narrator
What other book might you compare Carrots and Sticks Don't Work to and why?
Dan Pink's Drive because it offers a simpler approach to the same issue of engagement. The two are good together. Not opposing viewpoints but different ways of getting to the same end.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Slightly cynical or condescending inflection, way too rapid reading, mispronunciation of words all of which highly detracted from the kind, thoughtful content.
Do you think Carrots and Sticks Don't Work needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. I think he gets his point across.
    Any additional comments?
Don't let Richard Broski read any other books until he learns how to pronounce words like concomitant, Appomattox, and subsequent correctly, SLOW DOWN and drop that tone. I wanted the info but I found myself getting angry at the delivery. It was a struggle not to go buy the book so that I didn't have to listen to this reading.
Searched for a read, Found a treasure!
I didn't initially go looking for this book or any book like this. In my line of work, I wasn't looking for a solution to a problem. I simply like to read books that open my mind to new ways of thinking or something to challenge my way of thinking. Perspective.
Then I found this book, Carrots and Sticks Don't Work.
What this book explains is Paul's view on the systems most businesses use to motivate employees, how it fails to achieve lasting results, and his system for a content workforce.
This book made me think of why, in my professional career, I was not happy with my employers.

The problem is how you connect with people to create the results you desire.

    Not complete
I got the book and the audio version to "read along" which was impossible to do since the audio version seems to be an abridged version. I don't know who made the call to not have the full version of the book here but a heads up would've been nice.
The reader does a good job but unfortunately due to this being a reduced version it didn't serve the purpose I needed or expected.
    Good book
This book met my expectations. John Maxwell has really good communication points. The book helped me to understand that connecting is not about me.
I always loved the quote which he used in this book that "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Another interesting statement was that connecting and becoming a good communicator is skill and not a natural ability. He used Moses as an example.
This is a book that I will listen to again.
This is abriged and missing key elements.
What would have made Everyone Communicates, Few Connect better?
