    Publisher's Summary:
Each year Americans start one million new businesses, nearly 80 percent of which fail within the first five years. Under such pressure to stay alive - Let alone grow - its easy for entrepreneurs to get caught up in a never-ending cycle of sell it - do it, sell it - do it that leaves them exhausted, frustrated, and unable to get ahead no matter how hard they try. This is the exact situation Mike Michalowicz found himself in when he was trying to grow his first company. Although it was making steady money, there was never very much left over and he was chasing customers left and right, putting in twenty-eight-hour days, eight days a week. The punishing grind never let up. His company was alive but stunted, and he was barely breathing.
Thats when he discovered an unlikely source of inspiration - pumpkin farmers. After reading an article about a local farmer who had dedicated his life to growing giant pumpkins, Michalowicz realized the same process could apply to growing a business. He tested the Pumpkin Plan on his own company and transformed it into a remarkable, multimillion-dollar industry leader. First he did it for himself. Then for others. And now you.
So what is the Pumpkin Plan?
Full of stories of other successful entrepreneurs, The Pumpkin Plan guides you through unconventional strategies to help you build a truly profitable blue-ribbon company that is the best in its field.

Title: The Hour Between Dog and Wolf
Subtitle: Risk Taking, Gut Feelings, and the Biology of Boom and Bust
    Author: John Coates
    Narrator: Paul Michael Garcia
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 30 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-14-12
    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 91 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
A successful Wall Street trader turned Cambridge neuroscientist reveals the biology of boom and bust and how risk taking transforms our body chemistry, driving us to extremes of euphoria and risky behavior or stress and depression.
The laws of financial boom and bust, it turns out, have more than a little to do with male hormones. In a series of groundbreaking experiments, Dr. John Coates identified a feedback loop between testosterone and success that dramatically lowers the fear of risk in men - especially younger men. Significantly, the fear of risk is not reduced in women.Similarly, intense failure leads to a rise in levels of cortisol, the antitestosterone hormone, which lowers the appetite for risk across an entire spectrum of decisions.
Coates had set out to prove a strong intuition from his previous career: Before he became a world-class neuroscientist, Coates ran a derivatives desk in New York.As a successful trader on Wall Street, the hour between dog and wolf was the moment traders transformed - they would become revved up, exuberant risk takers when flying high or tentative, risk-averse creatures when cowering from their losses.Coates understood instinctively that these dispositions were driven by body chemistry - and then he proved it.
The Hour between Dog and Wolfexpands on Coates own research to offer lessons from the entire exploding new field of the biology of risk.Risk concentrates the mind and body like nothing else, altering our physiology in ways that have profound and lasting effects. Whats more, biology shifts investors risk preferences across the business cycle and can precipitate great change in the marketplace.
Though Coates research concentrates on traders, his conclusions shed light on all types of high-pressure decision making, from the sports field to the battlefield. This book leaves us with a powerful insight: Handling risk in a highly evolved way isnt a matter of mind over body; its a matter of mind and body working together. We all have it in us to be transformed from dog into wolf; the only question is whether we can understand the causes and the consequences.
    Critic Reviews:
A vivid and brilliantly written narrative: by integrating his knowledge of neuroscience with his experience as a Wall Street trader, Coates pulls back the curtain on the physiological mechanisms that prepare some individuals to thrive and others to be devastated by confronting risk. (Stephen W. Porges, director, BrainBody Center, Department of Psychiatry, University of Illinois at Chicago)
This scintillating treatise...is a provocative and entertaining take on the irrational exuberance - and anxiety - of the modern economy. (Publishers Weekly)
John Coates brings finely honed scientific insight to his insiders look at the world of highwire high finance to produce a vivid depiction of the minds, brains, and bodies of economic movers and shakers living on the edge. (Gabor Maté, MD, author ofWhen the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress)

His groundbreaking research exposes ten well-disguised mental Saboteurs. Nearly 95 percent of the executives in his Stanford lectures conclude that these Saboteurs cause "significant harm" to achieving their full potential. With Positive Intelligence, you can learn the secret to defeating these internal foes. Positive Intelligence (PQ) measures the percentage of time your mind is serving you as opposed to sabotaging you. While your IQ and EQ (emotional intelligence) contribute to your maximum potential, it is your PQ that determines how much of that potential you actually achieve. The great news is that you can improve your PQ significantly in as little as 21 days. With higher PQ, teams and professionals ranging from leaders to salespeople perform 30-35 percent better on average. Importantly, they also report being far happier and less stressed. The breakthrough tools and techniques in this book have been refined over years of coaching hundreds of CEOs and their executive teams. Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 7 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-18-11
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 780 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
The missing link to long-term Lean success! Despite the fact that companies worldwide have adopted Lean production, none has sustained the same levels of excellence as Toyota. Why? Leadership. In The Toyota Way to Lean Leadership, Jeffrey Liker and Gary L. Convis, a former executive V.P. and managing officer of Toyota, help executives and senior managers get employees to refocus their efforts - from simply performing their singular function to continuously improving in collaboration across the organization.
Case studies from Toyota clearly illustrate the methods that create powerful, effective Lean leadership. Jeffrey Liker, author of the popular Toyota Way books, is the acknowledged expert on Toyota processes. He is professor of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. After his executive leadership at Toyota, Gary L. Convis became the CEO of Dana Holding Corporation, a $6.1 billion supplier to the global automotive, commercial vehicle, and off-highway markets, and helped lead it to a successful turnaround from bankruptcy.
    Members Reviews:
It Isn't What You Migh Think
Everyone is familiar with Toyota as a brand. Some are aware of the Toyota manufacturing process. Being aware of the process is not being familiar and being familiar does not imply one is conversant with how it really works. Along comes Jeffrey Liker (The Toyota Way) and Gary Convis with The Toyota Way to Lean Leadership filling any gaps in our understanding. Importantly, Liker and Convis use a narrative approach to presenting their material. They use multiple examples and anecdotes to illustrate the concepts they are reporting. Their use of vignettes to describe how lead leadership works, certainly nourishes the readers understanding. Readers interested in manufacturing, Japanese culture, leadership, adult education, and other related topics will find this volume most informative. There is no need to be an engineer, Liker and Convis make the topic readily available to the general reader. The narration of Jim Meskimen is very good.
ONLY leaders should read, bean counters shouldn't
Good book on the origins of Lean Methodology and the Toyota system. Too bad most who practice Lean, Six Sigma, etc do not take in the whole education; as Americans we seem to short cut everything. Due to these short cuts, we have a lot of businesses that after recent economic circumstances are finding themselves at a point where they may not survive as a company. The recession was only the catalyst; shortsighted leadership was the true cause as most companies raced to the bottom in cutting costs to the point I fear a large number will not be able to recover. A tool is only as good as the craftsman that wields it. Needless to say Lean Leadership is all about leadership and has nothing to do with cutting costs.

better books out by both stars
lots of repetition and information compiled from conversations and old books... not much learned from reading this book
Makes you think in the right direction.
Recommend this for a person in business and needs to find your direction in life and business.
"Mistakes are only sins when not admitted."
What made the experience of listening to Midas Touch the most enjoyable?
The concepts that are explained in the book are told through the author's personal life stories. Complicated and sometimes confusing concepts regarding entrepreneurship are broken down and explained in a simple way and allows you to relate to your own life.
What other book might you compare Midas Touch to and why?
I would relate this book to Rich Dad Poor Dad.
What does John Dossett and Skipp Sudduth bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
John Dossett and Skipp Sudduth provide fantastic narration.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
"Fear is the entrepreneurs motivation to learn."
Nothing New - But Great Motivational Speakers
Where does Midas Touch rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
If you've read the Rich Dad books then this book offers nothing new, but the hearing Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki talk about their ups and downs is very motivational for a young entrepreneur.
I now have Trump's acronym FOCUS (Follow One Course Until Successful) hanging above my desk and it is a constant reminder that keeps me on track throughout the day.
If all you want is good entrepreneurial advice, then there are better books out there. If you want some motivation to keep you going through the hard times then this book is great.
What other book might you compare Midas Touch to and why?
The Rich Dad series or any Brian Tracy book offers the same advice.
Which character as performed by John Dossett and Skipp Sudduth was your favorite?
I was particularly inspired by Robert's stories about the mistakes he made.

Theres a common problem in business today. Its a people problembut maybe not in the way you would think. Publisher's Summary:
Two-time New York Times best-selling authors Roger Connors and Tom Smith show how leaders can achieve record-breaking results by quickly and effectively shaping their organizational culture to capitalize on their greatest asset - their people. Change the Culture, Change the Game joins their classic book The Oz Principle and their recent best seller How Did That Happen? to complete the most comprehensive series ever written on workplace accountability.
Based on their earlier book Journey to the Emerald City, this fully revised installment captures what the authors have learned while working with hundreds of thousands of people on using organizational culture as a strategic advantage.
    Members Reviews:
Redundant. Takes forever to get to the point.
What did you like best about Change the Culture, Change the Game? What did you like least?
The author spends so much time telling you about his first book it makes you wonder why he bothered to write the second one. After reading the second one I had to wonder if the first one was all fluff too.
If youve listened to books by Roger Connors and Tom Smith before, how does this one compare?
    I have not.
Have you listened to any of Lloyd Jamess other performances before? How does this one compare?
    Don't know.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    Definitely not.
    Any additional comments?
There is something to learn here but this book was written to extend the revenue stream from those who read the first book.
    Garbage. Don't bother
Would you try another book from Roger Connors and Tom Smith and/or Lloyd James?
    No
Has Change the Culture, Change the Game turned you off from other books in this genre?
    No
How could the performance have been better?
The book claims to have a winning recipe and concrete examples of "how" they accomplish their stated objective but all they do is repeat the same cliches and references a few simple, silly models. I felt silly for taking in this information
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    Not really
    Excellent concepts
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it was most useful. My only warning is that there are so many diagrams and lists you will most likely need to buy the book too
    Results Pyramid
It was nice to hear and read about similar core values and principles I had already, believed in, were part of a system and ultimately the results Pyramid. A nice follow up to the OZ Principal book, and the next step in the approach to accountability.
    Not enough information
This might have been a better book for me to have in hand. I just couldn't get over the fact that it would say "this is how you need to do _____" and then no detailed explanation or even a hearty example was given. I get the difference in types of experiences, but the very short and unrealistic experiences given as an example just fell flat. There is no way I can even remotely begin to compare those to my current career. As mentioned before, it probably would have been better for me if I had the book in hand. There was a lot of very useful information and I'm glad I made it as far through the book as I did however, it was getting harder and harder to listen while driving in downtown traffic after long days at the office.

    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Are you a genius or a genius maker?
We've all had experience with two dramatically different types of leaders. The first type drain intelligence, energy, and capability from the ones around them and always need to be the smartest ones in the room. These are the idea killers, the energy sappers, the diminishers of talent and commitment. On the other side of the spectrum are leaders who use their intelligence to amplify the smarts and capabilities of the people around them. When these leaders walk into a room, lightbulbs go off over people's heads, ideas flow, and problems get solved. These are the leaders who inspire employees to stretch themselves to deliver results that surpass expectations. These are the Multipliers. And the world needs more of them, especially now, when leaders are expected to do more with less.
In this engaging and highly practical book, leadership expert Liz Wiseman and management consultant Greg McKeown explore these two leadership styles, persuasively showing how Multipliers can have a resoundingly positive and profitable effect on organizationsgetting more done with fewer resources, developing and attracting talent, and cultivating new ideas and energy to drive organizational change and innovation.
In analyzing data from more than 150 leaders, Wiseman and McKeown have identified five disciplines that distinguish Multipliers from Diminishers. These five disciplines are not based on innate talent; indeed, they are skills and practices that everyone can learn to use - even lifelong and recalcitrant Diminishers. Lively, real-world case studies and practical tips and techniques bring to life each of these principles, showing you how to become a Multiplier too, whether you are a new or an experienced manager. Just imagine what you could accomplish if you could harness all the energy and intelligence around you. Multipliers will show you how.
    Members Reviews:
Learn how to not strip your productivity away.
The book is a positive outlook of how to avoid being a one man control freak. And again it is a positive approach to a negative problem. It should also be noted that the multiple is 2 times. Not a 3x or 10x type approach but in addition to learning how to work with people in leadership from this perspective the book also covers how to keep people on a team and attract new ones if the concepts are understood.
Hard to come by a good management book
What made the experience of listening to Multipliers the most enjoyable?
I've listened to several books about leadership and management, till now I wasn't able to recommend a really good one. (maybe with the exception the books of Jim Collins but they are applicable only for highly ranked organizational leaders)
It is even harder to find books that are based on empirical research and able to backup the text with actual data and numbers.
And so, I felt the book is very practical and it made me ask myself very hard questions:
Is it possible to be a multiplier as a manager and diminisher as a team member?
I'm now more aware to many of my "diminisher " behaviors and trying to avoid them as much as possible.
I've also recommended the books to several colleagues and good really good feedbacks.
    really inspiring, highly recommended.
Either you multiply or diminish talent around you.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
    Yes.

    Passing the buck
Have read this book a couple times and been in leadership seminars with the author. States it is about accountability and engagement. Really it is about passing the buck and leading through intimidation. Better books to read are the Speed of Trust and any Quint Studor books. Those are about developing a culture of engagement.
    Refreshing and definitely real
This book touched on so many things I struggle with at work. Great, logical, and helpful insights are offered. I definitely recommend this book for not just managers, but all employees.
    A definite reality check.
Can't wait to see how things will improve in my life and others around me by implimenting what I learn. wow....great book.
    Bring on the personal accountability!
Finished listening to this book on the drive in today. I am a big proponent of personal accountability and the idea that you can't change anyone but yourself. This book aligns with these ideas as it provides very specific ideas for how to accept responsibility for your results, take action and have impact by leading yourself and leading your team. Concise, well written, recommended for my fellow people-managers out there or anyone who is feeling frustrated with workplace drama! My only criticism is that the narration is quite robotic - listened on 1.5x speed and it was better.
    Thumbs up.
