Bravery, Innocence and Good Fun

I underestimated how much I would love this book. The Railway Children is a story about three siblings and their adventures in the countryside. Full of bravery, innocence and good fun, it is the kind of story that I want my own children to read one day.

Thoroughly enjoyable classic

My children are grown, but I am preparing for grands at this point, and besides, I still enjoy a good children's story myself. The characters were quite believable and likable, the scenery beautiful, and there was plenty of good, clean, educational adventure. Everything to like and nothing to regret. (There were even good manners, and real character to admire and emulate.)

I enjoyed every moment of the read, and was sorry to see it end.

I liked how the story was narrated. The kids had a great relationship with each other and it was to read about their adventures.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters

I had never read the book although I had known about it since childhood. I downloaded it to my Kindle to have something quick and simple to read while waiting for appointments. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. The children in the story were being taught to persevere and be happy in an unhappy situation (as the reader should). They were taught it is better to give than receive (as the reader should be). They were encouraged to get along with each other and help around the house (as the reader should). Typical childhood morality story but the characters were all rather endearing and the storyline wasn't too syrupy and good. Great ending.

wonderful

Each week I send a letter and a book to one of my eight grandchildren (7-12). I read many children's books, which don't make the grade for structure, style, content, and interest. When I saw this one, I didn't recognize the author. Silly me. Reading this book, I felt something familiar. Later, I learned she is the author of Sarah, Plain and Tall, an all-time favorite. However, The Poet's Dog fresh and new. It is destined to be a classic which I will send to the younger of my grands (7, 8, 9) without reservation. There is nothing in this book which could be seen as objectionable to anyone. Plus, it refers to some great literature and offers up some nice bits of poetry. Well done Patricia MacLachlan.

A Wonderful Story

This is another good Pinalicious book. Victoria's books always seem to inspire. My granddaughter immediately wanted to start writing her own book. I highly recommend any book by this author.

My kids absolutely love these stories. They are currently 3 and 5. The stories paint a great picture and they're incredibly descriptive and easy to listen to. I'm so glad they decided to make these available through Audible and not just their IOS app. We also like all the rest of the Tales Untold series very worth the money.

my girls were waiting for this book and fought over it, have re-read it many times, they absolutely love it

This is our third Stick Dog book. We started with an advanced reader copy of the first book and since then my twin 8 year old daughters have waited tooth and nail for each subsequent book. I ordered this so it would arrive the day it was released and the arguing and fighting about who got to read it first ensued and tears were involved, that's how badly each wanted to read it. The more voracious reader between the two got it first and blew through it pretty quickly. Her sister read it the same day. Both loved it, laughed out loud the whole time, and both twins have re-read it several times since. Both want to keep this book as a part of our permanent library and will not let me donate this book away. Definitely would recommend this super duper humorous and addicting-to-an-8-year-old book. Careful though, it will leave your kids wanting ice cream, wanting something sweet to eat :)

What a wonderful adventure filled story! The children and grandchildren love being read to...and didn't interrupt other than giggling at Stick Dog and his friends...they are already asking for the next book in the series to come! I highly recommend this series for all youngsters...refreshingly quick witted and author Tom Watson certainly captures the hearts of each character....amusing, fun filled and adventures for smiles young and old!

Absolutely love this book

Absolutely love this book. I have a 5 year old daughter and we read at night. I am always reading on my kindle and she is always questioning me when I am reading my books. She wanted me to read a book from my kindle so I downloaded this book and we read it every night. Love it. Each chapter is a different story and we talk each story after we finish.

Valuable lessons, but need more pictures

The cute little stories in this book teaches kids about the importance of being thankful. The stories are very interesting and my 5 year old liked it except that she wanted the book to have more pictures. Since a picture is worth 1000 words, I agree to that and hence the reduced star. The mazes at the end of the book are fun activity for the kids, but in kindle, it is kind of hard for them. I guess print version would be more interesting to kids who are interested on those.

Pretty ok book

This book is good for bedtime stories and simple morals for younger kids. I don't think it is an amazing book for kids over six or seven, but it totally works as a bedtime story for kindergarteners and second graders.

I bought it because I have 4 small children and have been trying hard to teach them the true meaning of thanksgiving and Christmas because our world has turned into greedy money hungry and forgot what holidays are all about. the author teaches children how to be grateful for the simple things in life they do have and not complain about all the things they don't have. The book have short stories so its not hard to read and at the end of the short story there is an activity for the child to do. I would recommend this book to every one as it teaches so much.

I enjoyed this ebook very much and am sure that these young kids will too and will be encouraged to count their many blessings as the read this ebook. And with quite a number of activities and at least about seven mazes to try to figure out. For all of these reasons I feel this needs five stars.
