Love

I really enjoyed reading this book. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great LGBTQ read.

Audible needs to revise their "steamy" rating

This was a cute, easy listen, but in no way is it a "hot damn" on the steamy scale. There is NO sex in this book. Not even close.

Tall, gorgeous as all hell, and a bad boy with ocean blue eyes and the perfect edge of adorability, he was her greatest tormentor, her number one enemy. But the guy who's come back is like no one Tessa's ever come across. Title: The Academy

Length: 9 hrs and 16 mins

Language: English

Release date: 08-29-17

Publisher: Evangeline Anderson Books

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 32 votes

Genres: Teens, Romance & Friendship

Publisher's Summary:

The Academy

Where things are not always as they seem....

My name is Kris Jameson and I'm a student at the Royal Academy. I'm at the top of all my classes, what they call a "model student". There's only one problem - the Academy is an all-boys school and I'm a girl.

It started as a prank when I took my brother's place. But things got complicated when I caught Broward, the school bully, in a compromising position. They got even worse when I was assigned my roommate - the handsome but enigmatic North who saved me several times from the bully's attacks.

Now the consequences of my deception are coming back to haunt me. The penalty for fraud at this exclusive school is much worse than simple expulsion-I could lose a hand. Worse, so could my beloved brother.

With so much at stake, it's imperative that I keep my secret safe. And the person I'm closest to, North, is the one I have to be most wary of.

The trouble is, I think I'm falling in love with him....

Great story

So this is definitely not like her normal work but I've gotta say I loved this book just as much as her other stuff. I couldn't stop listening I finished it in a day.

Fantastic YA that keeps you hooked

If you've ever seen the movie 'She's the Man', it is that concept. This is a futuristic story in an all boys boarding school where bullying is allowed but breaking rules gets you some nasty punishments. Fraternal twin Kristina (Kris) switches places with her brother Kristopher when their life situation changes. Earth is no longer lived on because the sun died so humans moved and thus it begins. Victoria, the moon Kris is from, is extremely extremely old fashioned and Kris has to learn how to be in the new severe environment change plus acting as a boy who is 17. The situations she gets into are funny, but can be serious too.

Very well written and not the normal Evangeline Anderson novel. But the same great writing that hooks you right away and doesn't let you put it down. This book covers concepts in several areas: history, bullying, gays, naivety, supervision, death, persecution. Even though these areas are heavy they make you think but also be entertained because they are so well written about and written at a youth level. This is a very PG book which makes it very ideal for youths.

I purchased this on a whim because I like her writing and I think its well worth a credit for the 9 hours of entertainment I received.

go get it

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I surpassed my expectations. It's not a new premise but it's exceptionally well written and preformed. I feared that Anderson was going to take a page or two from Tamora Pierce's work especially beginning with fraternal twins but she made it her own. very nice young adult read.

and I won't lie, if there ever is an older adult version of this story like this I'll pre-order it too.

Title: Style

Author: Chelsea M. Cameron

Narrator: Sophie Daniels

Format: Unabridged

Length: 7 hrs and 6 mins

Language: English

Release date: 08-25-17

Publisher: Chelsea M. Cameron

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 30 votes

Genres: Teens, Romance & Friendship

Publisher's Summary:

Kyle Blake likes plans. So far, they're pretty simple: Finish her senior year of high school, head off to a good college, find a cute boyfriend, graduate, get a good job, get married, the whole heterosexual shebang. Nothing is going to stand in the way of that plan. Not even Stella Lewis.

Stella Lewis also has a plan: Finish her senior year as cheer captain, go to college, finally let herself flirt with (and maybe even date) a girl for the first time and go from there.

Fate has other plans for Kyle and Stella when they're paired up in their AP English class and something between them ignites. It's confusing and overwhelming and neither of them know what to do about it. One thing they do know is that their connection can't be ignored. The timing just isn't right. But is there ever a good time for falling in love?

a good story with An awesome performance

a good story were they start of hating each other then fall in love with each other!!

Great story but narration altered my opinion

Would you consider the audio edition of Style to be better than the print version?

This was a really great story especially if you like tropes. I've read all Ms. Cameron f/f audiobooks and find them super enjoyable despite them not being super diverse(e.g only white mcs, supporting cast). Even though I found it cheesy in some parts, I did think it would be a five star read if it hadn't been for the narrator not editing and mastering her audio. There were several times towards the last 100 minutes where she was constantly trying to find her cues, and even times where she took drinks and burped. At first I thought it was the character but they were too many times, it was really unprofessional and altered my audiobook experience. This is at no fault to the story, which I liked but I think this talented author needs another narrator next time around.

Unedited Chapter 18

This book was not for me. There was very little conflict and not a lot of momentum. The written narration style was quite bland. if you like cutest, sweet lesbians and can suffer the simplistic writing style, maybe it's a more enjoyable read. Chapter 18 had many steps and starts in the narration and sounded very uncut and not to quality standards.

FYI

The story was fine. Nothing special or stand out. It was cute. An easy listen.

FYI there's a rather big section of unedited narrating that includes start overs, belching, and voice exercises. Other than that, I thought the narrator was good.

Fantastic Angel and Demon series and more to come!

I read thru the Watchers Trilogy, the Chronicles, then Caylins books since the 10th and was not disappointed....if you like Paranormal Romance full of Super Powers, Hot Angels and corrupted demons then this author is for you. SJ West has done a fantastic job on the Caylin series....PG 13 rated so not too bad for the young at heart girls....enough swooning and making out sessions ;)

Lots of action and supernatural activity that made the story thrilling as always so wasnt disappointed. I cannot wait for more books of the side characters in these series. Will read them all again some other time because one of the best Angel and Demon series ever!!

I cannot wait for the continuation of Aidens story that we will get more of with Caylin later which may include a marriage or baby?? We will see what the author has in store for us...so excited.

Side notes....I think there is a story brewing for Mae and maybe Tristan...hum...48% of the book when Mae saves the wolf of his Watcher Father Rolph and she tells him he is a bad man....

"Come on, puppy." Mae says. "I'll take care of you."

That was the funniest line ever in the book...lol

Fave quotes:

"You're the only woman I love. Since the moment I saw you, you've become my everything." ~ Aiden

I Love You By Ella Wheeler Wilcox 1850-1919

I love your lips when they're wet with wine

And red with a wild desire;

I love your eyes when the lovelight lies

Lit with a passionate fire.

I love your arms when the warm white flesh

Touches mine in a fond embrace;

I love your hair when the strands enmesh

Your kisses against my face.

Not for me the cold, calm kiss

Of a virgin's bloodless love;

Not for me the saint's white bliss,

Nor the heart of a spotless dove.

But give me the love that so freely gives

And laughs at the whole world's blame,

With your body so young and warm in my arms,

It sets my poor heart aflame.

So kiss me sweet with your warm wet mouth,

Still fragrant with ruby wine,

And say with a fervor born of the South

That your body and soul are mine.

Clasp me close in your warm young arms,

While the pale stars shine above,

And we'll live our whole young lives away

In the joys of a living love.

Poem read in book by Caylin in Malcolm's class....swoonworthy performance reading to the invisible Aiden watching her in class ;)

Betrayel

This book picks up right where the last ended with a trip to heaven. During their trip Caylin is given a gift which will help in her fight against the princes. In order to set the stage for Caylin's future descendant to save the world she must vhoose 7 watchers to help protect her descendants until the right one is born. My heart breaks for the pain Malcolm is and will be going through for years to come. I've fallen completely in love with Malcolm and wish for him the get his HEA.

Just OK for adults

This series is a good read, not a great read. I decided to review with the last 3 books still to read.

S. J West your awesome love it

Here we go again with amazon erasing my reviews. It's getting old fast.

Were do I start. Hmm well I have been a Hugh fan of s.j west for a every on time and I was not disappointed in this book or any of her others for that matter. I love know what the characters are up to and what kind of trouble they are facing and beating. Her books gives me hope that there is still good people out there but we are just hiding. I know they are just books but the power they have is amazing. Thank you for writing such powerful books and look forward to more

Another hit from SJ West!

I've been waiting for months for this book and when I finally had it in my little hands, I finished it in record speed. Once again kudos to SJ West for an excellent job in relating Caylin's and Aiden's story. I loved the characters and their interactions with each other as well as with those from past books. Such a treat to continue to read about Malcolm (my absolute favorite angel!) Lilly, Brand, Tara, Mason, Jess and the vessels. I am once again anxious for the next installment and glad October is only a couple of months away so my wait won't be too long :-). I highly recommend reading this book if you love The Watchers trilogy. SJ is a wonderful story teller who transports the reader into the lives of the characters and makes you feel like they are your friends too.

A precious gem

Timeless

Book 1 of Caylin's Story

By S.J. West

27 July 2015

Continuing my journey into the world of Author S.J. West's Watcher Series, I'm now introduced to Caylin, Brand and Lilly from the first Watcher Trilogy oldest daughter. She's now a 17 year old teenager in love with her soul mate.

The story continues with the ease and transition of Author S.J. West style I've become amazed with and expectant of. All of the characters I come to love and adore, and even the ones I love to hate, are fully present as she brilliantly weaves the next phase of this journey.

You'll get to know Caylin and what a force to be reckoned with that not even she herself truly knows of herself yet. But I can truly say that I ravage this book in just the same way I ravaged the last 7.

I anticipate all that this series has to offer as I read this 2 book series that is setting the scene for the next set of books to continue this epic story.

Faced with doubts (what if he's a creep in real life - or worse?), Bailey doesn't tell Alex she's moved to his hometown. Or that she's landed a job at the local tourist-trap museum. Or that she's being heckled daily by the irritatingly hot museum security guard, Porter Roth - a.k.a. her new arch-nemesis. But life is whole lot messier than the movies, especially when Bailey discovers that tricky fine line between hate, love, and whatever-it-is she's starting to feel for Porter....

And as the summer months go by, Bailey must choose whether to cling to a dreamy online fantasy in Alex or take a risk on an imperfect reality with Porter. The choice is both simpler and more complicated than she realizes, because Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex...approximately.

Great But Don't Read the Synopsis!

This book has a synopsis that tells way too much information. I was warned so I didn't read it. However, it's easily figured out, but I still was happier figuring it out on my own. Great fully realized characters with a sweet and actually kinda hot romance for a YA book made this an amazing read for people 16 plus. Highly recommended!

Title: Hybrid

Subtitle: Aluna Series, Book 3

Author: Bethany Wicker

Narrator: Beth Stewart

Format: Unabridged

Length: 5 hrs and 36 mins

Language: English

Release date: 07-28-17

Publisher: Bethany Wicker

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes

Genres: Teens, Romance & Friendship

Publisher's Summary:

A peace that won't last. An exciting adventure that has its risks. And a new enemy on the horizon.

Now that she's settled into her Aluna title, a whole new adventure calls to Lena. She discovers she's expecting and she and Kane couldn't be happier. The bad thing, she can no longer shift into her wolf form. With an overprotective mate, Lena shouldn't have to worry about not being able to shift. But, as usual, the peace doesn't last.

Now, there's a new enemy on the horizon. A group of werewolf hunters that call themselves the Order. They want to take advantage of Lena's debilitated state and destroy their pack, which is now considered to be the strongest one in the nation. It's hard to recognize friend from foe amongst the hunters, so what does this mean for the ones who live with them?

Members Reviews:

Happy to finish the series

A well deserved happy ending. Selena and her pack face a new threat and it feels like the stakes are raised to new heights. Adding to the drama is Selena's inability to join the fight due to her pregnancy (not a spoiler it's literally revealed in the first paragraph).

This trilogy will lead you on a whirlwind of emotion but in the end you will smile. If you're looking for a pure escape into the land of super natural I highly recommend this series. All the loose ends were neatly tied together, leaving me (the reader) completely satisfied.

Without giving away any spoilers I was happy to have a certain old character return to the mix and sad to see others go.

If you are a fan of the YA genre you should read this series.

Great ending to a great series

Great ending to a great series! I love the way the story has built from book to book. If you are looking for a series to get lost in, this is a good one.

U go girl this book is great and the other to are great when is the next book going to come out !

This is a great book about love loss and hybrids

Its a must read as well as the other two

And I can't Wait till the next one

Action Packed and Awesome

I've never been a devotee of werewolf stories, but I regardless found this series to be very entertaining. Bethany Wicker's writing has gotten better and better as the series has progressed, and this trilogy-capper sent the series out pretty much exactly how I wanted it.

At the end of Aluna, our heroine Lena discovered she was pregnant with Kane's child. Of course, being a werewolf, things are a little more complicated - namely, she can't shift into her wolf form, because doing so would harm her unborn child. And so, on top of having to deal with a way-overprotective Kane, their hunter friends being infiltrated by agents of The Order, and the brewing final battle with those who would see all werewolves "cured" or destroyed, Lena has a lot on her plate.

This series has been action-packed and not overly long, which makes every book a quick, easy read. If you love werewolf stories (or dark fantasy in general), then read The Aluna series!

your pregnancy will never be like hers. See

We all thought being pregnant was difficult for the average person. Well, it's a whole other ball game when you're a shifter. Lena is having a baby, something that is exciting and joyous and ... puts her in danger? Yeah, your pregnancy will never be like hers.

I enjoyed more than I expected

I expected this book to be dark and so villainy, but surprisingly it was sweet and thought provoking with these simple yet deep stories .. some of the essays at the end of the stories helped me to understand the stories better .. so here are my ratings for the stories:

1)The Blood of IMURIV : it was enjoyable and a nice start to the book .. 4.5/5

2) Jack: this story surprised me and the ending was shocking but I was hoping for more 3/5

3) GWEN AND ART AND LANCE: oh man this story was hilarious .. I will certainly check out this author because he is soo funny and quirky and I loved the story 5/5

4) Shirley and Jim: I liked the atmosphere of it .. but the ending was so abrupt 4/5

5) The Blessings of Little Wants : I really couldn't get into this one . it was so boring and I really couldn't connect to the main character 2/5

6) The Sea Witch : it is written by MARISSA MEYER !!! of course it will be amazing :D 5/5

7) Beautiful Venom: this one is heavy though it is one of the shorter stories .. it deals with serious subjects about our society despite being in asian setting 3.75/5

8) Death Knell: I wanted to like this story more than I did .. but I guess I'm from the minority who don't like Victoria Schwab's writing 3.5/5

9)Marigold : I really liked this story .. it is a mashup between Victorian London and fairies .. 4/5

10) you, you, it's all about you : EPIC !! it was soooo good, so exciting and amazing 5/5

11) Julian Breaks Every Rule: I found this one somewhat boring but it has a nice idea 2.5/5

12)Indigo and Shade: I like this retelling and the power of choices in our lives 4.75/5

13) Sera: strange .. I feel like this can be a horror movie 4/5

The Narration was nice and it was on point .. I liked this experience but try listening to it while reading the book it will enhance you understanding of the book

I have been waiting all my life for this book!

This is a definite Yes for me!! These short stories had everything. conflict, drama. It was deliciously evil and yet emotional heartfelt.
