All's fair when you're in love with War.
For 17-year-old Mia Ahlstrom, a world ruled by order is the only world she allows. A lifetime of chore charts, to-do lists, and study schedules have helped earn her a spot at Redwood State University's engineering program. And while her five-year plan includes finding her very own happily-evah-aftah, years at an all-girls boarding school left her feeling woefully unprepared for keg parties and co-ed extracurricular activities. So nothing surprises her more than catching the eye of Tyr Fredriksen at her first college party. The imposing Swede is arrogantly charming, stubbornly overprotective, and runs hot-and-cold in ways that defy reason...until Mia learns that she's fallen for the Norse god of War; an immortal battle deity hiding on Midgard (Earth) to protect a valuable Asgardian treasure from a feral enemy. With a price on his head, Tyr brings more than a little excitement to Mia's rigidly controlled life. Choosing Tyr may be the biggest distraction - or the greatest adventure - she's ever had.

Not bad but not really worth the audio
The book might be better if just read instead of listened to but I just kept getting annoyed because the girl narrating the book says every single sentence with the most dramatic tone Ive ever heard in a book. I dont know if she didnt like it and was being sarcastic or just overplaying but even casual sentences are read over the top.
Deep South Lingo Really Hits The Spot
Would you listen to Perfekt Order again? Why?
Yes. Every so often. It is entertaining.
What other book might you compare Perfekt Order to and why?
Runes, by Ednah Walters. The Norse mythology helps draw an interesting parallel.
Which character as performed by Dara Rosenberg was your favorite?
Mia. She is funny, multi-faceted, and perfect.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    Tur's potential death.
    Any additional comments?
    Funny and entertaining...

"In this stunningly brave and necessary debut, Erica M. Chapman takes us on a journey to the edge and back - exploring grief, depression, and suicide with candor, insight, and above all, hope." (Amber Smith, New York Times best-selling author of The Way I Used to Be).
"A beautifully crafted, dark, and heartbreaking look at depression and suicide. Ellery's story is needed and necessary; Chapman is a writer to watch." (Kathleen Glasgow, New York Times best-selling author of Girl in Pieces)

    Darkly Romantic
    Love this book!!!
It's a stark reminder of what it is to be innocent, lost, and naked.
    Surprisingly NOT depressing
I was a little weary about this one because I was worried it would be super depressing, despite other's reviews stating that it wasn't. I actually really enjoyed the way the author portrayed the main character's stubborn nature and extreme determination to end her life in order to 'balance' out what she thought she was responsible for. I genuinely believe that there are many people in this world that deal with similar struggles, and this book did a good job of expressing that struggle through Ellery's story.
Ellery's sister died at a very young age, but Ellery does not express how or why, only that she feels responsible and wants to end her own life. Throughout the book, she does not come out and say what happened (until the very end of course), but it is made clear that it was enough to make her feel extremely guilty. It was enough to want to end her life. I think this book brings to light just how much goes on in a suicidal person's head that no one else knows about, not even family members or close friends. Many people, including myself, have had a friend or loved one end his or her life when no one was even aware that the desire was there.
While this book is about suicide, I think it manages to stay away from uber-depressing and actually brings to light a lot of aspects of suicide that most people wouldn't normally feel comfortable talking about. I thoroughly enjoyed Chapman's writing style and would read another one of her books for sure. I really liked her raw, poetic style and thoroughly understood the feelings and emotions she described. The narrator was also very good. I like that she was able to do boys/mens voices without sounding like she was growling into the microphone like some other performers. All around good read/listen.
    Tear jerker
This is so worth the listen. It's an amazing story. Anyone that's ever had loss in their life, guilt, and suicidal thoughts could find hope here.
    Just not very good.
Didnt really enjoy this story at all, I really wanted to but it was TOO melodramatic and a pretty bad reflection of mental health.

I'm an adult, reading YA fiction...
The story is cute and I appreciate that the author incorporates sexuality and consent into the narrative. Teenagers deserve to know they aren't freaks for being horny little beasts and that consent is sexy. However, the acknowledgements portion of the book was dumb and confusing.
    I love it!
It was a great storyline, I loved the main characters. So captured by this story. I hope there will someday be a sequel.
    The predictable unpredictability
The story itself was predictable but it made you think of things you usually don't think about
    Good
It's definitely aimed towards teenagers that are discovering themselves. It's not called The Needy and the Dirty for no reason. There's a good bit of sex involved , and there's talk of masturbation. The characters face some awkward moments that would make anyone catch second-hand embarrassment. The narration was good. Overall a good read. I enjoyed the main characters.
This book was great...obviously (wink wink) :)
I usually don't read YA books, but if its narrated by Julia Whelan, then I'll have to read it because it'll be good...and also the story sounded good!
This book was so real as to what 'socially challenged ' kiddos are like. I liked the storyline, characters, and dialogue.
Fantastic book! I wish the author had more books!

    Unquestionably 5 Stars!!!
When I read the first two chapters of this book, I had to stop and put it down because I knew heartbreak and devastation was ahead. So I waited days before picking it up again. But I am SO glad I did. This book was real and raw and beautiful. But so we're the truths revealed and the lessons of forgiveness and love. I absolutely love Harper and Ridley and wouldn't mind an O'Malley update down the road. Unquestionably 5 Stars!!!
    loved it
loved this book. enjoyed the reading of it and the storyline, I would recommend it.
Good story, not so good narration
I really enjoyed the story as I am a big fan of Jenny B Jones. While I am new to audiobooks I felt that I didn't enjoy the story as much because of the narrator. Her southern accent was not consistent from character to character and was not believable. I did enjoy the story but almost gave up on it a few times.
    LOVED this book
There is so much depth to the characters and story. My new favorite book. I'm going to check out the other books from this author.
    Great Story!
Great story about unconditional love, forgiveness, redemption and that past experiences don't need to define us. Narrator was great too.

So much awesome and only 1 story
I loved listening to Melissa Moran narrate this story. She gave such emotion and so much excitement to the story is was wonderful. I loved Ryiah's trials and battles thought the mage school. There was so much awesomeness packed into 1 story I don't know how they did it. There was a wonderful fantasy world to escape into and so awesomely done its hard to believe that it isn't just another view on history. There is so much about this story I enjoyed I can't even name it all without just reading you the book myself and no way would I do the amazing job that Melissa did narrating.
    awesome!!!
I cannot wait to hear the sequels!! thank you audible books! I would recommend this
A Great YA Novel And Promising Start To A Series
First Year: The Black Mage Book 1 is an excellent YA novel about twins, Ryiah and Alex. The two set out to join a prestigious mage academy, but the road to becoming an accomplished mage is not easy. The Academy has a brutal weeding out process that takes power, talent, and a strong will to survive.
First Year seems to be more about Ryiah than Alex. The mage academy teaches three types of magic, alchemy, healing magic known as restoration, and combat. Ryiah, who wants to become a combat mage, has her work cut out for her. Surprisingly, author Rachel E. Carter didnt make either Ryiah or Alex particularly skillful. Both children are perennially at the bottom of their classes, but they somehow manage to hang on.
There are other studentssupporting characters that are likable and not so likable, but definitely not one dimensional. First Year is all about the weeding out process just to earn the right to become mage apprentices. Although that isnt a whole lot of plot, enough happens in book one to feel like a full length novel without feeling like the novel was padded to reach its length.
Narrator Melissa Moran did a great job bringing the Ms. Carters words to life. She also has a pleasant sounding voice that sounds age appropriate to the characters. Her male character voices werent bad either.

I Wanted To Like This Story
I usually don't seem to end up liking books I pre-order, even though this was hyped from buzzfeed books. I'm not sure if it's the Christmas theme, the whiny narrator, or the lack of depth coming from the author who wrote 13 Reasons Why. I think I was expecting deeper characters with a deeper romance coming from Jay Asher. This book is relatively short compared to others, and I'm having a hard time finishing it. I finished 2 other books and will possibly finish 3 or more before ever finishing this one.
Enjoyable from the start to the finish
If you're looking for a light listen with a feel-good tone, this is the audio book for you. The characters are developed and enjoyable and the narrator is captivating. Perfect holiday listen
    What Plot?
I'm giving this book 2 stars because I didn't hate it. I actually enjoyed listening to most of it. It was only when I got to the end that I realized I had been lured into a false sense of enjoyment.
Because this book was an utter waste of time.
Seriously nothing happens. I kept waiting for the twist or the climax or any kind of actual event, but alas, there was none.
    Cute story; great narration
I thought this story was cute. It started off a little slow, but once Sierra met Caleb, I couldn't stop listening. The narrator was perfect for this story.

Wonderful ending to a wonderful trilogy.
It really all makes sense in the end, and resonated beautifully. Don't pass up on this trilogy! The world and characters are remarkable, up untill the very last page.
    Worst Book 3 EVER!!!
I don't usually react this way to a series I've read and enjoyed, from an author I like. But this book made no sense. It felt completely disjointed, with absolutely no resolution to all the main story lines - just dumb gimmicks to explain away everything that happened in books 1&2. I feel cheated. I've invested time listening to this series - I even re-listened to the first two books prior to this one. And now I wish I hadn't bothered.
the worst one in the trilogy
in my opinion this was the worst book in the trilogy. The voice acting was grating. I would say even more grating then it was in the first book. the second book was probably the best not only in terms of writing but in terms of the voice acting as well. honestly everything about this particular installment was a bit of a letdown.
    Heart wrenching ending
Great series but the ending, really? Nooo. I won't give it away, you must read.
    The true end of greatness
The story moves from darkness to light. Marie Lu has created a great myth worthy of Greek scrolls. Highly recommend this series.
