    Autore: Vito Mancuso
    Narratore: Paolo Sesana
    Formato: Unabridged
Durata: 7 hrs and 23 mins
    Lingua: Italiano
    Data di pubblicazione: 12-19-17
    Editore: Salani
Categoria: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Riepilogo Editore:

What does it mean to be resilient? We all face adversity in life. The question is, how will you respond to it? Will you learn to be resilient? Will you learn to thrive or merely survive?
In this inspirational book, Ria shares how she overcame issues like guilt, shame, fear, and doubt that stemmed from years of being sexually abused by her father. Forced to play the role of a wife and even shared with other men due to her father's perversions, Ria left home at 19 without a job, a car, or even a high-school diploma.
By experiencing Ria's journey of resilience you will find courage for your own. What happens to us in life isn't as important as how we respond to it. The choices we make today will define us tomorrow.

    love and genuine healing
All I can tell you is to read this book! Ria Story went through hell but has and come out the other side full of life, love and genuine healing. After reading her story, I promise you that most of our silly problems that we allow to debilitate our lives will seem extremely small and petty.
    Five Stars
    Awesome!
    Hope and inspiration!
Ria's book is full of hope and inspiration and she shows us that despite experiencing horrific trauma as a young adult, that if we choose to we can get past anything with the attitude that we bring to our life. She has clearly done a lot of personal development and reading, and her book is full of wonderful quotes and wisdom. There are also thought provoking questions at the end of every chapter designed for the reader to look within as we learn that ultimately happiness is an inside job
Excellent and very powerful. Ria's story is a compelling one. Highly recommended!
Beyond Bound and Broken is a deeply inspiration book; one that will stay with you for years to come. The lessons are deep, yet practical, and her advice leads to clear solutions. This is a profoundly hopeful book. We all face pain, difficulty, and doubt but with resilience, we can lead vital, flourishing lives. Ria's story although sometimes painfully difficult to read because of the trials she endured is a story of great courage and compassion both for herself as victim and for those who betrayed her. Forgiveness is a strong theme as is courage. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to move forward after experiencing a great trial.
    Dynamite in a book!
This book is brutally honest, powerfully transparent and will cause you to re-examine those many excuses you have as to why God can't use you powerfully to impact your world!
The way Ria has shared her experience about such relevant subjects such as Identity, Forgiveness & overcoming Shame and Fear by allowing us a glimpse into her heart and how she, herself has overcome... is nothing short of transformational!

    Powerful and Very Compassionate Book.
A beautifully developed and Inspirational book. I am grateful to Priscilla Ronan for sharing her vast experience and insight on someones "end of life" path. This book is written in grace, dignity and courage for anyone that is going through this journey of a love one dying. It will bring much insight to all that reads, Someone I Know is Dying . We all need more compassion, more intelligence about this journey we all will take one day.
Valuable and practical discussion about staying present with dying loved ones.
A healthy awareness of the inevitability of death is a very important aspect of living a more meaningful and connected life. To our detriment much of Western Culture treats the reality of our human ending with both fear and avoidance. The unfortunate result is that many people facing death are immersed in a confused and often desperate attempt to cling to the waning moments of life. The anxiety caused for all involved adds suffering to the already deep sadness that is being appropriately felt and can often lead to an unwanted emotional disconnection and isolation for both the dying person and for their family and friends. Priscilla Ronan's new book is well considered, experience based, cogent and practical advice aimed at addressing the deep insecurities most of us feel when faced with the imminent death of a loved one. The book gives clear insights into how each of us can add value to the experience of not only the dying person, but also to others involved in the process. The ideas and advice presented is important information that can help any of us stay connected, supportive and loving through life's final phase. 'Someone I Know Is Dying' is a much needed, valuable and useful read for both hospice workers and anyone else facing one of life's most difficult moments. I very much recommend it. Jack Cartier MD

Lauri M. Velotta-Rankin and her husband were sent overseas by an unscrupulous adoption agency to chase the ghosts of children they'd never bring home. After turning to in-vitro fertilization (IVF), a life-threatening diagnosis sent them reeling with fear and to the brink of emotional collapse.
Despite an onslaught of crushing blows, a gold thread of compassion was weaved into the fabric of their story. An infinite supply of benevolent refuge was found during an unanticipated two-week stay in the home of a Moroccan grandmother. Though there was no personal history, shared culture, or even common language, an immeasurable bond developed. And when the couple decided to explore domestic adoption, a pregnant teenager's weekly emails restored an emotion that had been ravaged throughout their journey: hope.
Triumphing with revitalization, Sheer Willpower is an astonishing account of determination fortified by the resilience of maternal spirit.

    Beautiful Perspective
Divine healing is a spiritual journey in ethereal travel.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest review and I have to say, it's a pleasurable listen.
If Reiki healing, Channeling, spirit guides, and angels interest you? this book is worth your credit.
This is not a how to guide... more of the author's personal journey through spiritual growth.
Stories of the after life appeal to me so I'm glad I had this listening experience.

    Title: My Lovely Wife
Subtitle: A Memoir of Madness and Hope
    Author: Mark Lukach
    Narrator: Josh Bloomberg
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 39 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-04-17
    Publisher: Macmillan Digital Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 2 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
Mark and Giulia fell for each other in their teens, married in their 20s, and didn't realise what their love would demand of them until Giulia suffered a terrifying and unexpected psychotic break at the age of 27. Hospitalized for almost a month, she was tormented by delusions and paranoia. Upon release, she sunk into an extended suicidal depression during which Mark, struggling to support Giulia, was torn between the demands of keeping her safe and following doctors' orders, and honouring her independence and making her feel loved.
Eventually Giulia fully recovered, and the couple had a son. Soon after Jonas was born, Giulia had another breakdown, and then a third a few years after that. Pushed to the edge of the abyss, everything the couple had once taken for granted was upended. In My Lovely Wife, Mark takes us through these harrowing years with compassion and candour, as he and Giulia renegotiate their relationship, anchored by an abiding devotion to each other and their family.
A story of the fragility of the mind and the tenacity of the human spirit, My Lovely Wife is, above all, a love story that raises profound questions: how do we best care for the people we love? What and whom do we live for? Breathtaking in its honesty, radiant with compassion, written with dazzling lyricism, this intensely personal odyssey offers much-needed insight into the caregiving side of mental illness and affirms the power of love.

    Wow!
I cried, I laughed & I pondered. As a mental illness sufferer with a husband & sons, this book helped me face my fears head on. But mostly it gave me hope. I'm well now but the dark clouds always seem to circle. You've gotta ride the waves & their story really did help me see that once more. Yes
    Incredibly moving
This is nothing short of incredible. The way the author lets you in to his and his family's experience leaves you feeling you have been on a journey with these remarkable people. I was rooting for Mark and Giulia right from the start and I felt their pain, their joy and their hope. It is a fierce, honest, loving portrayal of a marriage rocked by serious mental health problems. Through all of it Mark's devotion to Giulia shines through, and he takes you with him in the experience of loving Giulia and helping her be well. He is brave in his honesty about how hard it is at times, delving into his own reactions, fears and resentments, which makes this a truly balanced and full impression of a terribly difficult situation.
It doesn't matter that the narrator is someone other than Mark himself. The narrator reads the book beautifully and sensitively, and with emotion that suggests this story got under his skin. Which is not surprising because it's so incredibly moving.
There are harrowing and disturbing details about Guilia's psychosis that will stay with me a long time. But there is also a lingering positive feeling of the power of love and the amazing ability of humans to fight, survive and live a full life.
Above all one comes away from this book wishing nothing but the absolute best for this amazing little family - and I hope we get another instalment to hear how they are getting on.
    Brilliant
A must read! Describes a husband's battles with a wife who has mental illness brilliantly.

    Language: English
    Release date: 04-28-17

Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
There are thousands of books on autism. Some books advocate new methods of teaching styles. Some talk about alternative medications that have worked miracles. This book does not make such claims. What this book conveys is that every family who has a child with autism has to figure out a coping system that works for their child with autism and for themselves. This is our journey to that place of facilitation and happiness. There are many variables that effect the real life situations of living with autism. Assimilating the research based teaching methods and styles with a great deal of love, compassion, patience, and consistency has paid off for us, and it will also work for you. The fact that our child is processing information, using cognitive and metacognitive processes in his life's situation, trying to problem solve and use schema or prior knowledge for his own benefit and survival goes beyond the scope of the usual fundamental theories presented today. We have found that properly amalgamating various theories with common sense applications has worked for our child and us. This book is our way of tackling autism, so it is a one of a kind story. You will see the processes described in this book will yield an individual result, which will also work for you, producing your own "one of a kind story". Every family who faces the challenge of taking care of a child with autism goes through emotional trauma. This book is not about that pain but how we have overcome that pain and we have come out stronger. We want the autistic child to develop into a happy person, who is able to function well in his or her surroundings. Beyond simply functioning, we want to discover the child's natural talents and skills, and possibly develop a vocation.
