    Great story
Loved the narrator of this book. Great story, like the humor and full of action.
    Fun, Fun, Fun
After listening to To Kill A Mockingbird I needed something different and fun. Something to divert more than inspire. Chinese Cooking ... was the perfect choice. A good story with well defined characters, good recipes

    Don't buy
What would have made Nowhere to Run better?
    A better narrator
What didnt you like about Kate Udalls performance?
Us all was hard to hear. Narration lacked the ability to draw me in. Narration detracted from the story line.
    Entertaining Story
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Sure I'd recommend it. It's an entertaining audio.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes it did! Couldn't stop guessing who the killer was!
Would you listen to another book narrated by Kate Udall?
-sigh- If I don't have to. Her performance isn't bad but I've been ruined by 2 performers and no one lives up to them.
Could you see Nowhere to Run being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I actually hated the characters in this story! I can not really say why. So, I can not say who should star in this. But I'd watch the movie for sure!
    Any additional comments?
    Entertaining!
    Stop running
Although I enjoyed the book it was at times somewhat confusing. There was no breaks between sections. One minute you would be listening to one characters words and without warning you were taken straight into another characters story. Take a breath.
    Good Story- HORRIBLE NARRATER.
Would you try another book from Nancy Bush and/or Kate Udall?
Nancy Bush Yes Kate Udall NO. The narrater made all the and I mean all the characters seem angry. She read the book as if everyone had a chip on their sholder
    Any additional comments?
The Story was great and the character seem like ones I could follow through other books, but the narrater real chopped it up.
    GREAT READ!!
Reminded me of Law and Order SVU series. Very complexed but easy to follow ;)

    Title: Authority
Subtitle: The Southern Reach Trilogy, Book 2
    Author: Jeff VanderMeer
    Narrator: Bronson Pinchot
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 34 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-22-14
    Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Limited
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense
    Publisher's Summary:
The second volume of the extraordinary Southern Reach trilogy. The Southern Reach is a government agency so secret it has almost been forgotten.
Following the disastrous twelfth expedition chronicled in Annihilation, the second audiobook of the Southern Reach trilogy introduces John Rodriguez, the new head of the government agency responsible for the safeguarding of Area X.
His first day is spent grappling with the fall-out from the last expedition. Area X itself remains a mystery. But, as instructed by a higher authority known only as The Voice, the self-styled Control must battle to 'put his house in order'. From a series of interrogations, a cache of hidden notes and hours of profoundly troubling video footage, the mysteries of Area X begin to reveal themselvesand what they expose pushes Control to confront disturbing truths about both himself and the agency he's promised to serve.
Undermined and under pressure to make sense of everything, Rodriguez retreats into his past in a labyrinthine search for answers. Yet the more he uncovers, the more he risks, for the secrets of the Southern Reach are more sinister than anyone could have known.
    Critic Reviews:
    Praise for Annihilation:
"A teeming science fiction that draws on Conrad and Lovecraft alike The writing itself has a clarity that makes the abundancy of the setting more powerful. Annihilation shows signs of being the novel that will allow VanderMeer to break through to a new and larger audience" (Sunday Telegraph)
"A lasting monument to the uncanny you find yourself afraid to turn the page We are less than 200 pages in to the Southern Reach Trilogy and already home is a distant memory, and an unreliable one, too: for who's to say that home was not always X at heart?" (Simon Ings, Guardian)
"Annihilation owes much to the explorations of psychogeographical landscapes in early JG Ballard and also to the work of the old masters of weird fiction such as HP Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgson, with their love of nameless horrors haunting liminal realms. VanderMeer synthesises these influences to create a tale with a deliciously creepy atmosphere of dread" (Financial Times)
"Annihilation is a weird and wonderful novel. And the hardback edition is as beautiful as the prose between the covers.' MetroA tautly told, self-contained story, informed and illuminated by the flawed and very human voice of its narrator" (Arc)
"Immersive, insightful and often deeply bloody creepy, this is a startlingly good novel. If the sequels live up to it, then the Southern Reach series will be a major work" (***** SFX Magazine)
"A tense and chilling psychological thriller about an unravelling expedition and the strangeness within us. A little Kubrick, a lot of Lovecraft, the novel builds with an unbearable tension and claustrophobic dread that lingers long afterwards. I loved it" (Lauren Beukes)
"Original and beautiful, maddening and magnificent" (Warren Ellis)

    Addictive
It was a little slow in the beginning, but soon I couldn't stop listening. Loved it.
    Good Plot
The plot of this book was very good although there were a few things that were kind of irritating such as repeated phrases throughout the whole book, and I believe that the performance of the audio part of the book that I listened to should've been done by a younger voice. All in all it was a fairly entertaining book
    So so
It had multiple repetitive lines the main character would make throughout the entire story. Ok once or twice I can see but it became annoying fast. It got to the point I was cringing.
    The Mystery Box
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The book is mostly made up of conversations between two women. About 2/3 the way through bombshells, kept flying from everywhere.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
    You never knew when he...
Which character as performed by Nancy J. Alexander was your favorite?
Mona, you couldn't figure her out until the end.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Mona told her about Casey
    Any additional comments?
Well written, starts off slow, but give it a chance.
    Heart stopping.
I half read and half listened to this awesome story. Read this. Better yet listened to it. My heart is still pounding.

    Members Reviews:
    OMG this was Fantastic
Would you listen to Kill Her Again again? Why?
This was so good, I would definitely listen to this again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Daniel Pope and Anna McBride.
Have you listened to any of Scott Bricks other performances before? How does this one compare?
Scott Brick's voice was absolutely perfect for this. Very dramatic, he couldn't have done any better.
    Any additional comments?
I am relatively new to listening to Robert Gregory Browne and so glad I found him. This book was better then the last one I listened to but I am a new fan of his and will look for more. This book was just great. So suspenseful with the right amount of supernatural to be believable. But the end - Wow, what an end, I never saw that coming. I know I'm not telling anyone what the end is but if you like this kind of story it is worth a credit.
    Spine - Chilling!
I bought this in audio-book format not realizing it was a "supernatural thriller". I would normally never chose this genre... but it was a very pleasant surprise. Considering the way characters intertwine, this could have been a difficult listen, but it was not! It all comes together in such a perfect way! The end is spine-chilling!! I really enjoyed this book!!
    Poe or Pope?
This narrator is one of my favorite but half way through the main character Poe suddenly becomes Pope. Very distracting.
    Bait and Switch
The first half of the book had the makings of a solid thriller and I took the bait. Suddenly, the book switched into fantasy fiction towards the middle and then had the nerve to concluded with a fairytale type happy ending. (????) After my experience with the last book in the series, I'll have no problem "not " taking the bait and buying the first two. (And in my next life, I won't even buy this one!)
    Wow - Intense
    Any additional comments?
Very intense story - and scary too (but not painfully so). The tale is gripping and keeps the listener guessing what is going to happen next. I am not quite sure whether I liked the ending or hated it, but it was interesting. Scott Brick is a very good reader, but I recommend you listen to this at 1.25 speed.

    Members Reviews:
Pay attention to those old books in the basement!
If you could sum up The Keepers of the Library in three words, what would they be?
    Dynamic
    Historical
    Fascinating
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Keepers of the Library?
The Benjamin Franklin secret society dinner, and the result of that epic scene, was rather compelling. Drew a fascinating image of the scene, and the dialogue therein.
Have you listened to any of David Doerschs other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes I have, and he is turning into on of my favourite performers. His accents, pacing, and consistency make for a rich listening experience. In his top performances, without a doubt.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    The Authors of the Future
    Any additional comments?
This one is classic Cooper. Historical references, larger than life characters, and enough action, , suspense and intrigue to catch and retain the listeners attention. I got hooked on this one, and I do recommend it.
    Great Addition to the Series
"The Keepers of the Library" is a great addition to the Will Piper series. I say addition because Glenn Cooper leaves room for books in the series at the end of this book. "The Keepers of the Library" is a well-written, intriguing, roller-coaster of a book. The only downside of the whole book was the performance of the narrator, David Doersch. His performance was at times robotic and generally difficult to listen to.
    Nice end to the story
Would you listen to The Keepers of the Library again? Why?
I have listened to the first two books more than once and couldn't wait for this one. The Keepers of the Library is a nice way to end the series, albeit not as suspenseful as the other two books. The narrator was a little off too - there were a lot of characters and his choice of voices (especially for Greg) took me away from the story a little.

3.6 is my actual rating on this
Lisa Gardner keeps you on the edge. Well crafted and well performed.
On a scale of 1-10 for mystery and thriller lovers:
Predictability - 7 you will have to cross 60% of the book before your guessing works
Connection to reality - 4 - Well, the characters and plot are invented for your pleasure, you will not find them anywhere in your neighbourhood. The Detective is as she is in her other novels, well crafted charachter you can connect with. Rest is sheer outrageous imagination.
The Flow and the plot - 7 - Will keep you gripped form the first 5 minutes
Fun / humor - There is none in her books ever, so none here too
    surviving emotional pain
This is a highly entertaining book, well written and with well fleshed out characters. I emphasized with the main characters determination to overcome and tame her painful injury and how she disliked her dependency on her husband to help her do every day tasks. To the point were you lose yourself and you are not "you" anymore.
There was no happy ending as there so rarely is in real life, these characters were hurting, which of us survive an awful childhood with no emotional baggage.
    gripping
loved it, very easy to listen to kept wanting to know more.
didn't like the narrator much but not so bad that I was able to listen still xx
    disappointing
This was just silly. I cannot think of much else to say about it,and I have enjoyed Lisa Gardner's novels previously.
Such a disappointment. I got half way through and got so fedup with it that I skimmed through to the end, I rarely do that, but I couldn't take anymore of this rubbish.
    Believably unbelievable
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely ,you can see the story and characters so clearly in your mind it's better than a film
What other book might you compare Fear Nothing to, and why?
    Any lisa gardener book/audiobooks
What about Regina Reagans performance did you like?
Along with orlagh Cassidy Regina Reagan brings audiobooks to life and makes them truely believable
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The Characters Grow On You....Like Real People
The stories in the Vernetta Henderson series are super entertaining. As one reviewer said, the stories "are not being written fast enough." I was always tuned in listening and wanting to know what will happen next. This story is very relaxing with some violence (not over the top) and the storyline is very easy to follow. So I can be busy doing my gardening, washing dishes, house cleaning, etc. without worrying about zoning out and getting lost or missing something in the story.
Vernetta's side kick "Special" is really special... She is in all of the stories and her character provides lots of texture to the story and brings laughter with her never ending shenanigans which plays well into the storyline.
R.C Bray's narration is good.... even his female voices are okay. His performances are always excellent.
    Book #2 Thriller with laugher
I hope this series will go on and on and on! I'm hooked to say the least. These books are not being written fast enough. This was my Sunday entertainment, no commercials, no sitting in one place, I even went outside and did some gardening while still listening. In this book you get laugher and the edge of your set adventure with a little violence and the book is easy to follow. I love Vernetta's side kick Special she gives the book balance. R.C Bray just narrated this book with a female lead character and STILL knocked it out of the park.
This is as monderful legal series!
Pamela Samuels Young writes legal thrillers that have the right balance of serious and fun. In Firm Pursuit is made even better by the outstanding narration of RC Bray.
    Special Special!!
As much as I love Vernetta, Special is the most fun person ever. We all need a special friend like special. I love these books and although I complained (to Ms Young) about a man reading a female protagonist lead with the first book I do not even notice it now. Mr Bray is excellent and one of the best narrators to me. This was a super book. Great story. Believable, captivating and I hated to see it end. I've read all the Vernetta Henderson books now and can't wait for the next one Ms. Young is one of the best authors to me; she drops a lot of names with the clothes and such but I know people like that so that's real too! Keep up the excellent work Ms. Young. I am loving your stories, all of them and cannot wait for the next one!
    Loved it! Interesting characters!
This book was a surprise because not only was it a legal thriller, but it was peopled with black characters and gave an insight into the black culture of LA. The narration accents also added colour to the characters, in both senses of the word. I enjoyed the main character, but also her friend Special, who was very comical in a strong, opinionated black woman way.
