Don't bother

I was nostalgic so I bought this - I should have saved my money. Abridged version leaves much to be desired.

Quick Sexy Listen

I'd heard a lot about this book, and I'm glad I checked it out for myself. The writing was delightful and the characters were well-developed. True, the hero wasn't politically correct by today's standards, but that made it even better. Recommended for those who love a good bodice ripper.

Where is the rest of the story

Would you try another book from Rosemary Rogers and/or Amy Marks?

The Kindle and printed versions of this book are fantastic. But Wow what a disappointment to find the audio is only the first 1/4th of the story. The entire Ginny and Steve struggle is completely missing. You would think this is the end of the story, and yet the book is much more indepth and the struggles don't leave a true happy ending. SO this is not a complete book by any measure. Sorry but was very sad substitution.

This abridged version is disappointing

Many, many years ago, I read the print version of this book and enjoyed it very much. This abridgment left out so much that it lost the depth of character development of the main characters, Ginny and Steve. This was my first and will be my last abridged edition!

Disappointed in Shorten Version of Book

I didn't realize so much of the book would be missing in the audio abridge version. It was a big disappointment because the book is one of my all time favorites to read.

the performance was good, and even though too much of the story was edited (to the point the characters were just shells of what they were in print) the story was compelling. the biggest issue was the quality of the audio. it was tinny she distracting

Relationship Angst!

The roller coaster was too much for me. All the yelling and anger about clan feuds was something I couldn't relate to, as much as, I liked the character of Paton. I'm luke warm about Anne Flosnik as a narrator for this genre (not a sexy voice to me).

Pirate Preacher in a Powerful Plot

Charity's Cross goes beyond a playful, romantic squashbuckler and becomes a faith building read.

Tyndall has truly become an excellent wordsmith.

As the reader watches Charity's flight from the abuse of her husband, the reader sees, feels, touches, taste and smells Charity's world. We laugh and cry when she does. Of course the hero, Elias, saves her virtue and her life many times in the first part of the story, yet Charity still makes bad choices. This is where I usually want to toss the dumb damsel is distress into the sea. However in the last few chapters, Tyndall shows the reader who is really at work.

In this section, not only is Charity responsible for her future choices, she "mayhap" impart to some readers the secret. For those who need courage to get away from abuse, the power to overcome spins out in beautifully written words and life giving truths.

Tyndall weaves real, everyday Christians into extra ordinary adventures, and does so with excellent craftsmanship.

MY TAKE

I have not read these books order. That's okay. Moore does a good job of making each book a story into itself. However, I realized that some of the characters I knew, besides Sidney and Emma (and her brother William and his wife Amelia, of course). I didn't realize at first that the soldier and the other woman who came away from the prison after their escape were the princess and her rescuer from Miss Burton Unmasks a Prince. I LOVED that book, and now I want to go back and read it again just because I understand more about those too than I did before.

As for Lady Emma's Campaign. This was a charming story, and I was happy to see Sidney get his own HEA. He's such a fun character from the Becoming Lady Lockwood. It was fun to see Emma go after what she wanted (Sidney). She was a little irritating at first because she was young, incredibly naive, and pretty spoiled.

It's okay...

The story is good, but the reader's voice for the duke's character was so draggy and affected, that I almost returned it. The rest of her reading was good.

great story. terrible performance .

This story of Lance was the perfect ending to the wicked trilogy. his character is quite a character throughout the book. You have to read every chapter all the way to the end to not miss anything . The performance is regrettably awful and takes away from the book.

Well, I tried, but ...

In my review of "Tall, Dark, and Wicked" I complained about the narrator but said I would give this book a try in hopes that the narrator would improve. She did not! In fact it got worse. I can't even stand to get through it and will return the book.

I really like Madeline Hunter's books. The stories are excellent and, usually, a little different from the run-of-the-mill historical romance. But I will never purchase another book that Lulu Russell narrates.

Here again, the characters, both men and women, tend to sound the same. However, in this book two stand out from the others as being different - but definitely not in a good way. Lance is not only arrogant and bored, but has no character that appeals at all. There are no layers to him, nothing that indicates he is at all concerned about his danger, and, worse, that he has any interest at all in Marianne. He just sounds like a spoiled little nebbish with no personality or redeeming value whatsoever.

Although she is not the heroine in this book, Eva does appear continually, but she sounds like she takes nothing seriously. Her voice is a continual laughing smirk. Again, other than Lance, all the men are indistinguishable, and, without phrases such as "Ives said" or "asked Gareth," which aren't used (and in print isn't necessary due to proper punctuation) conversations often don't entirely make sense.

Message to producers: Please! Please! Be careful about your narrators! Stop destroying series by letting a narrator learn at the expense of the listener!

Auditory Bliss

I was eagerly awaiting the release of Reclaimed after having devoured Unleashed. Any expectations I had were completely blown out of the water. Kerrigan Byrne and Derek Perkins demonstrate why they make such a dynamic team. With Byrne's master storytelling and artful prose, and Perkins' exquisite performance, this series delights and surprises at every turn. The mix of romance, mythology, mystery, and humor in these novellas has set a high bar for other writers in this genre. I can't wait to hear what Byrne and Perkins do next! Here's to looking forward to the evening commute!

There were just too many memorable moments to pick one. These stories have it all laughter ,sadness, longing and plenty of hot love scenes.

What about Derek Perkinss performance did you like?

So easy to get caught in the stories and lost to his narration. Loved his voice!! Derek could talk to me all day long !

A good listen with great narration

I really enjoyed this audio which takes place in a time where women had little or no control over their lives. Elizabeth did the best she could with a very controlling father. The plot is easy to work out but it does seem Reese isnt very smart in that area. Once he does get a handle on it he moves pretty fast taking control and making a wrong a right.

I love the narrators accent it really adds a lot to this audio. Her character voices are wonderful you really can feel the emotion through her voice. I really enjoyed them all from the males, women and children. The author gives very vivid scenes that the narrator carries off wonderful. There are no repeats of wording, no background noises, no volume changes just a wonderful clear audio. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. She does a wonderful job bring the audio to life really making it easy to get lost and picture each scene. I really look forward to listening to more of her work.

In the time period the author sets her plot makes this a very believable story. My heart really went out to Elizbeth with all she went through. Reese I have mixed feelings about him at times I really felt his pain and at other times I thought he bought it on his self. Even through all his pain he still did what he could to help her and her son. He treated the boy wonderful even with his feeling of the past and how he felt she did him wrong. I thought the plot was wonderful, it really pulls the reader in giving a delightful listen. Its an audio I will listen to again. I truly enjoyed the twists and turns, the mystery and how it unfolds.

Mystery and Romance

A very enjoyable read. Mystery and (clean) romance with some very humorous parts that kept a smile on my face. Lots of hidden identities ultimately leading to a perfect conclusion. Very enjoyable narration with easily discernible characters.

Nice entry in the Regency Romance genre

I discovered Georgette Heyer in the eighth grade and have been looking for tales like hers ever since. Sadly, most Regency novels are pretty awful. This on the other hand is really quite good. The situation is pretty far-fetched but let's be honest - we don't read this stuff for realism. Never mind, the heroine and her earl find reason to masquerade as servants and of course complications ensue. The characters are likeable, the plotting is well done, if fairly predictable, and everything wraps up neatly. The dialogue is a bit flat, lacking the wit of the best Regencies.

The narration is simply "okay", somewhat lifeless. I considered only two stars but bumped it up to three because ther is nothing grating about it to annoy me the way some readers of romances do. Not syrupy or overly "breathy", and none of the men sound like they are about to shape-shift into something vile.

I'll probably get more by this author for when I'm in the mood for something pleasant and not particularly challenging.

Edward is the jewel here!

Sadly the Archers don't make an appearance but the winner of this show was Edward! A brilliant and funny lad who adds much to the enjoyment of this story. The lead characters are nice enough, not half as sharp as Sarah & William from the previous book, but they are likeable enough and the storyline is decent. Not every couple can have great amounya od chutzpah. Still, Edward takes the cake!

Outstanding performance!

Jenny Sterlin delivered an outstanding performance narrating this unique story. Her voice expressed outrage, tenderness, compassion, understanding, and confusion as she brought life to the various characters.

Was the hero a bit too good to be true? Perhaps -- but the author gifted him weakness as well as strength and I liked him very much indeed. His devotion to his little girl was wonderful.

I thought Helena had a lot to learn about people. I would have actually liked David to have found someone else to love.

I couldn't stop listening

I couldn't pull the headphones out of my ears. It was funny, charming, sad and exhilarating. The hero and heroine are so human they could exist today. I liked that the heroine was a strong self sufficent woman and the hero was equal measure of proud and vain. Together they struggle to find happiness together. This is Sherry Thomas at her best, witty, funny, romantic with a smartly written story and most emotional mature hero. Having just finished listening to this book for the second time, I can honestly say this is my favorite romance novel. Jenny Sterlin did an outstanding narration. You won't be disappointed.
