Enjoyable and yet lacking an interesting storyline

Cute but fell short with a satisfying storyline. Love began after only a couple of 5 minute interactions and although I did not dislike the story I felt it lacked substance.

Nice Quick Story. Good Narration.

This was a nice quick story. I enjoyed it. I did think there was more internal dialogue by Michael and Aldora but otherwise good.

They made a good match. I liked the story line and plot. There wasn't a lot of filler nonsense either.

As for the narration, it was good. I like Tim Campbell. He does a good job on the women's voices and has a nice reading voice which is kind of sexy too.

Great book and awesome narration..

So, Christi Caldwell is always a hit-or-miss for me and this time it was a hit. I liked everything about this story. I mean, a little bit of it was some crazy thinking on Michaels part but at least CC didnt beat you over the head with it, as she likes to do. Michael was in a duel with Lord Everworth and Everworth doesnt like it when Michael wont duel with him so he fires at Michaels back and Michael turned and fired and Everworth was killed. Why CC wanted to have Michael think he was a murderer is beyond me. Then his family turned on him and banished him to Wales, where he proceeded to make himself filthy rich, so that was good.

I really did like Michael and Aldora, and I liked his brother Wilburn, too. I liked Aldoras twin sisters, Katherine and Anne, and her brother Benedict. Her mother was just an unlikable idiot.

There were two kisses in this story and thats all.

As to the narration: I simply love Tim Campbell. He gives the men such great voices and the women sound like women. What more can you ask for?

Quick Thoughts: This is a top read for me in 2017. The book had it all: it was funny, emotional, and I loved all the characters. There were so many things that fired on all cylinders to come together for a very engaging read. The romance between Graeme and Marjorie was swoon-worthy but it is honestly his brothers that kind of steal the show! So worth the read :)

A Great Short Story

I enjoy this author's work very much, but especially enjoy her short stories...I can listen to them without stopping. This was a great story & I loved it!

I didnt like the hero, Sir Rennington of Ashbourne, particularly at the end of the story. He was too suave, his voice too kind. (probably has something to do with the narrators approach) Of course, the reader hears what he is thinking. Even when he, himself, realizes hes a jerk, I couldnt forgive him. He changes only when he is cornered, realizing what he was doing to his best friends angel, Holly, and feeling guilty. Guilt doth not make a man honorable. Im not able to get past this point.If Holly had been another woman, he would have pursued her and not felt badly tricking her. No, he wasnt my cup of tea. In my mind, he didnt redeem himself.Holly isnt a very likable heroine, either. She is easily duped. I see some seeds of strength in her, but she easily is manipulated by Sir Rennington and then forgives him. I didnt like that she could dismiss so easily her sisters concerns to have her consider marriage. Again, I think it is because of the shortness of the novella, preventing the fleshing of and feelings of the characters) I couldnt find anything in her to admire.The narrators voice is annoying at times when in both hero and heroine dialogue he breathes in at the end of the phrase. I started listening to that rather than the story!The plot is a good one along with the settinga time of miracles at Christmas time and magic. As a novella of 76 pages, character development and supporting scenes to make these characters soar with the season, just didnt happen.I normally love everything this writer pens. I listened to the story a couple of days ago, and still my thinking remains the same.

Sweet Seasonal Story Novella

I am an unabashed lover of KLV novels & tend to try not to try the novellas unless they are on offer. I prefer the full novels as I have to normally have to use a credit anyway. The audible sale has allowed me to do this & just listened to this sweet seasonal story of redemption & love between Ren & Holly. Yes I wanted to hear a full novel (over 10 hours) & hear more but it was a nicely paced novella.

A True Historical Romance Novel

What did you love best about If the Duke Demands?

In the beginning of the book when Miranda Hodgkins believes herself to be in love with Robert, a second son, and plans on seducing him at his mother's masquerade Birthday party. Miranda was raised playing with the Ducal family and Robert still treats her like a child. She wants to prove to him she is a woman. Miranda's impetuous nature often gets her in trouble and her attempted seduction of Robert is no exception.

What did you like best about this story?

It is the first true Historical Romance novel I have read in a long time (no other genres included, i.e. mystery, etc.) and very well written. It takes place in 1822 when society's social customs and etiquette were all important. Miranda, being an orphan raised by an aging aunt and uncle, had dreamed of a season in London, but never thought it would come to be a reality. Miranda was kind and supportive of the Duchess when the Duke died and the Duchess wants to give Miranda a season while she is of an age. The Duchess provides everything: new gowns, shoes, etc. and teaches her "society" rules and etiquette. Being a country girl everything is new and exciting to her. Sebastian, the new Duke of Trent, makes her transition into society easy for her, appearing at her first ball on his arm and dancing the first dance with her, as part of a deal struck between himself and Miranda on the fateful night of his mother's Birthday party.

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyres other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I used to enjoy her performances and then I bought a few books where she whispered all through them and it was very disconcerting, so I began omitted books narrated by her. BUT SHE'S BACK! Her performance was excellent in "The Duke Demands".

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself teary eyed on more than one occasion.

Great story line.

Enjoyed the last book in this series. Storyline was interesting. Narration was a distraction with exaggerated pronunciation of final syllables in words.

Loved it

Hated the "self ordained" king.This gave me the motivation to keep reading the book. I just knew that he would get his come-uppance eventually.

What was most disappointing about Jody Hedlunds story?

Jody Hedlund writes clean and interesting stories, although a bit simple. But the narrator makes the story so boring, I just can not listen to it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Becky Doughty is one of the worst narrators I have heard. She drags out the last syllable of every sentence. She can not change her voice to make the characters interesting or distinguishable. And her male voices are terrible!

As much as I would like to hear more of Jody Hedlund's books, I will have to pass on the ones read by Becky Doughty.

Brilliant , beautiful and WOW!

The story was brilliant, love at its most beautiful and WOW, it was all fiction. It ended and left me pinning,thinking and feeling what if. Loved every bit of it. However, I wish There'd been more about what happened to Charles during the years they were apart.

Too sad ! Every time you think at least a little positive storyline is coming you are

left empty. I love Suzan Tisdale's work so much but this left me pinning and wondering why so much pain all the way to the end.

I haven't listened to a story in a long while that kept my attention throughout the whole book. The narrator was spot on and the character development was well done. Even though you may not agree with all of their choices, you can't help but understand and appreciate why they made those choices.

Beautiful

I had the pleasure of reading this beautiful love story and had to purchase the audio book. This story of forbidden love--written in first person -- will keep you on the edge and in the end will leave you brokenhearted. I truly hope that one day Susan Tisdale will continue this story and pick where she left off. It must be told!

Loved the book and the narration..

So, a ridiculously stuffy duke finds himself compromised with a happy, look-at-everything-with a positive-attitude female he tells himself is not proper at all and doesnt want to make her his duchess, even though he has to. I absolutely loved Kates attitude, and how she thought of Ravenwood and what the truth really was. He was shy, had his own garden and wrote poetry, and loved his friends and family deeply. The more Kate found out about Ravenwood the more she loved him.

There was some sweet desire in this book, plus the fear Kate had to overcome about getting pregnant and either her or her baby dying. It was a long while before they consummated their marriage, since the first night didnt go so well.

This is my first book by this author, because so many reviewers made me think she wrote G-rated books. Well, she doesnt! Its not all that explicit but the sex is just so romantic, at least in this book. The desire may not come until they kiss but it was there. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Oh, and this is the 7th book in the series but I never felt lost for a second, no matter what past characters showed up.

Ravenwood and Kate were a wonderful couple. No angst, no misunderstandings, just a forced marriage that turned into a wonderful love. And I abso-tiv-ly loved Aunt Muriel.

As to the narrator: Wonderful! Her voices were awesome but her voice for Aunt Muriel was totally on the mark. She sounded loving, funny and old, just like she should have. Stevie Zimmerman is the reason Ill listen to Erica Ridley again. The characters really come alive with her narration.

Really enjoyable fun sweet read/listen.

I really enjoyed this story a lot. I loved Katherine and Ravenwood together. They made a great match and were made for each other. The chemistry between these two was great.

The story line and plot was very good. The characters were written excellently and you couldn't help but love them. He was a bit stuffy but romantic and she was outspoken and spunky. She made a great accidental duchess!

Also, this was a 5 hour 20 minute book so it was not full of filler nonsense. YAY

As for the narration. Well, Stevie Zimmerman is hit or miss for me sometimes, but recently she has gotten much better with the men's voices and the reading. Also, it seems the background fuzzy noise is less. If you have listened to her narrations you know what I am talking about. Anyway, this was a hit on the narration front.

Solid Victorian Romance

Any additional comments?

This is a most enjoyable book. Lord Benjamin is told he must marry Lady Rachael or his funds will be cut off. Lady Rachael is a ruined woman and this would be her only hope of getting married. Each of these young people hold a secret which they are guarding. If the truth comes out they would be ruined. The marriage turns out better than they think it would but they still have their pasts hidden. There is a great deal of intense times, but thankfully the author does not let the angst drag on forever. The story kept my interest the entire time and kept me up late at night to finish. It was worth it. The reader is very good, as always.

Roslyn Landor is a fantastic and very talented Narrator. Her brilliant story telling makes you listen to the Book.

What was most disappointing about Bianca Blythes story?

No real story. Too much simple and boring inner dialogue as well as immature dialogue. The ending was so abrupt.

Rosalyn Landor was the reason I purchased this book, but even her excellence could not make me even like this book.

Short but Beautiful!

Rosalyn Landor did a fabulous job reading the story to me, I think I should have had her read this one first but I forgot it was the prologue to the series.

Rosalyn and Markas Story, Rosalyn was such a caring younger sister. She wanted to find a husband for her sister Fiona to insure that she would be happy.

What Rosalyn didn't expect to happen did. What was that? Oh no I can't tell you that, you must get the book and read it for yourself or get the audio book and let Rosalyn Landor read it to you. I'm sure you will enjoy this book so I encourage you to get it soon.

What did you love best about The Perfect Fiancé?

The characters were very likeable, the sisters, Rosamund and Fiona, looked out for each other. Marcus, too, had his positive points. There were good descriptions of the countryside. The story progressed at a good pace.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rosamund, she always put others first, even when disappointing prospective suitors she tried to find them other matches. She was very caring of her sister, although she didn't always think about what others might want for themselves.

Which character as performed by Rosalyn Landor was your favorite?

Rosamund, as she featured the most, so had the most to say and the list action.

Yes, I did have a chuckle at Sir Seymour and his outbursts during the play.

I thought Rosalyn used her different voices for the various characters to good effect, changing pitch and accent as required. I always like to hear a British accent when the story is set in England. This is a sweet romance, only a few kisses.

Enjoyable Regency Story

I really enjoyed this book, the story is about a brave strong willed woman, Lady Thessaly, who runs away from her, wastrel of a stepfather who intends to sell her to a brothel having already sold everything else. She is rescued by Victor an honourable tortured soul who lives life in the shadows because he is very badly scarred.

Victor has an enemy, the man who caused his scars, and this enemy is out to hurt him in any way he can.

Thessaly and Victor strike a bargain, they will marry and produce an heir for Victor's line, what isn't part of the bargain is that they will fall in love.

I really enjoyed this story, I liked the way their relationship developed and I loved that love won in the end.

The story was just the right length with just the right amount of action and was beautifully performed.

I got this book via audiobook boom. The narrator was good and brought the characters to life.

A beast worth meeting

Based on Beauty and the Beast this story is similar enough to be recognizable and different enough to show creativity. I liked the characters, they're more complex than they seemed in the first chapters and their emotional range is very good.

The narration is well done, I liked the character voices and the delivery conveyed the emotion of the story nicely.

I loved this quick take on one of my favorite fairytales. I love a damaged hero and this one was perfect! Steamy and suspenseful, I really loved this book! Also, the narration was fantastic!! I highly recommend this audio for anyone looking for a historical novella!

Fun little book

Fun retelling of beauty in the beast. Sound quality was excellent, accents were well done, enjoyable little spin to an already familiar tale. A little short, but definitely worthwhile.
