Katy Carter knows she's no domestic goddess: she's scatterbrained, she needs a fire extinguisher at the ready when she's cooking and she daily falls off the diet wagon. But that doesn't stop her fantasising about a hero to call her own. And Katy thinks she's found him in fiancé James, a charming, high-flying city banker.
So why, then, does Katy find herself scribbling steamy historical romances every spare moment she gets and daydreaming about becoming a published author when she ought to be paying attention in staff meetings?
As her wedding day looms, Katy determines to become a wife James can be proud of and employs the help of her best friend, Oliver, to impress James' colleagues and family. But despite best laid plans, the pair set off a hilarious train of events that leads Katy on a crazy journey through celebrity, chaos and makeovers and, finally, into the arms of her hero.

A definite must read! Another Fabulous UK author
Super funny book. Katy Carter has such a great, active imagination. At so e points I didn't know if it as her, or her character Milandra whom was our true heroine. However, Katy definitely rises to the occasion to become the fabulous heroine of the story.
Katy is an English school teacher, who is currently engaged to her one time childhood friend turned banker fiancé, James. James is definitely not the likable character, from the get go we get a sense of foreboding that he probably isn't the Hero that Katy Carter is wanting.
But who is the hero that Katy Carter wants? Is she too self involved with her imaginary world to notice her own prince charming ! With a fantastic cast of characters and unstoppable humor this book definitely delivers on all notes. It has he humorous side, emotional connections, and the parts that just piss you off. It even manages to throw on some unexpected bits hat you just don't see coming. And when you have been an avid reader for years, your truly appreciate when an author can slip on a surprise or two along the way.
I definitely will be purchasing more of ms. Sabertons novels!
Two Stars
Liked her other book a lot. Didn't care for this one.
The main character is just so much of a pushover
I really can't stand it when the main character does not have a backbone to begin with because I believe women are more than just identified as doormats as was said several times in this story. Partial redemption is not enough to redeem this character from being a needy and weak woman.
Holding out for a Hero!
Katy Carter Wants A Hero probably couldn't be classified as having a unique plot - after all, it's one I read multiple times a month but the fact is I didn't pick this up for it's uniqueness, I picked it up because it looked like a fun and light read. I had no expectations as to how I would like the book and went into it with a completely open mind. The book is told entirely from Katy's point of view and I was hooked incredibly quickly. I don't know whether that was because of how simple the writing style was, or how likeable Katy was, or just how fun it all was, but the book sucked me in and wouldn't let go. The opening of the book sees Katy writing parts of her novel (kind of what I expect a Mills & Boon book to be like) whilst in a school meeting and it was very quick off the mark, not to mention quite hilarious.
