Publisher's Summary:
John David Anderson, author of Sidekicked and The Dungeoneers, returns with a funny, heartwarming, and heartbreaking contemporary story about three boys, one teacher, and a day none of them will ever forget.
Everyone knows there are different kinds of teachers. The boring ones, the mean ones, the ones who try too hard, the ones who stopped trying long ago. The ones you'll never remember and the ones you want to forget.
Ms. Bixby is none of these. She's the sort of teacher who makes you feel like school is somehow worthwhile. Who recognizes something in you that sometimes you don't even see in yourself. Who you never want to disappoint. What Ms. Bixby is is one of a kind.
Topher, Brand, and Steve know this better than anyone. And so when Ms. Bixby unexpectedly announces that she won't be able to finish the school year, they come up with a risky plan - more of a quest, really - to give Ms. Bixby the last day she deserves. Through the three very different stories they tell, we begin to understand what Ms. Bixby means to each of them - and what the three of them mean to each other.

Road Trip
We listened to this on a road trip. What we didn't expect is how enthralled we became with the story and characters.
The writing is beautiful and drew our imaginations into the story.
Our 12 year old gives this 5 stars and says this is a great book. We enjoyed the opportunity to share a book like this one where the entire family could track and enjoy.
Sweet story ...
But it makes me sad that all three boys had to depend so heavily, emotionally, on their teacher instead of getting the support they needed from their parents. This book would probably be too sad for my 10 year-old to listen to and he would get very mad at the parents in the story.
A great story!
I listened to this with my 10 year old daughter. My husband and I are both teachers and there was so much to this story to chuckle at and appreciate in regards to "life in school", both from the perspective of being an adult, and from the perspective of being a student. We've all had a favorite teacher or two (I hope!), and the way we feel about them is very special. This story was funny, inspiring, and tugs at your heartstrings. My daughter and I both loved it. We also loved hearing the voices and perspectives of all three boys. It was a great way to tell the story.
awesome
This book is absolutely compelling and perfect. Great narrative. I would certainly recommend this book
Review.
Narrator was fine. Story was awful. Sorry, but it was a step by step of the students and their daily adventures, which doesn't connect to the premise.
