The nonhuman population of Manhattan is getting fed up with being ignored and abused. And the Council? Well, they have an agenda of their own, and it's not one the lonejacks are going to like.
When it comes down to choosing sides, the first rule of the lonejack credo is "Don't get involved." But when friends are in danger, and the city you love is at risk, sometimes getting into the thick of things is all you can do.

    Imaginative and entertaining
This is the third in the Retriever series and the books continue to get better. Of the urban fantasy genre, the book contains a nice mix of the magic and the mundane and makes the mix "believable". The books are well written with a good use of language. Plots are complex, characters well-developed (and quirky enough to be very human, even when they're not) and the pacing is good. Multiple story lines are well managed and keep you guessing - the great thing is, the author doesn't see the need to wrap things up quickly as so many other do, often to the detriment of the story - the plots all develop well and end at what seems to be an appropriate time, not all necessarily in the one book (which isn't a problem - you can still read them as stand alones and pick up a good read). Not all goes as planned, the main characters have flaws that make them even more interesting and generally I find I need to keep reading. They keep me engaged and looking for the next one. Highly recommended.
    Plot holds up
I enjoyed this but less than the first two in the series. I feel he attempted to blend in information and history from the prior 2 Novels way down the pace unnecessarily. Reviewing activities from prior books was tedious.
    Five Stars
    Love this book series
    Excellent
Really interesting and lovable characters, very good story, great humor and good drama. An excellent series, has all the elements to keep me hooked.
    love this series
Awesome series, unique idea behind the main characters and great writing, other series off the Retrievers are awesome to enjoy

    Not a very good book
way too sappy. the book is like a reality tv show. and to make it worse, she constantly says the same things over and over. i couldnt even get through the first 6 chapters before i had to quit listening.
    Get on with it already.
Where does The Vampire's Bride rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Probably near the middle which doesn't mean much cause I don't read many books I don't like.
Would you be willing to try another book from Gena Showalter? Why or why not?
Yes. I don't hate her books, but I am not to where I just couldn't live without her either.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene where she is not discussing how inadvertently smitten the two are without wanting to admit it.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really. This book is more of a guilty pleasure. There is nothing particularly inspirational about it.
    Any additional comments?
The story line is not a bad one. The only reason that this book doesn't get better reviews is because the author felt the need to drone incessantly about the attraction between the two and how neither, especially the vampire, are willing to admit it. If is hand't been for that then the story line would have been a good one. I just feel that there is so much more that Showalter could have done with the story, given that she didn't dwell on the two longing for each other and denying one another.
    Yummy!
I think these books gain something when someone reads them to me. Definitely not literature, but who doesn't need some fun ;)
    CRAP
Awful, had too many sub-stories which took away from the two main characters. Most of the book was the heroin trying to force herself on the hero and the hero saying he did not want her, although he did. Image most of the book " I know he wants me I can see it in his eyes". " I don't want you, what is it about her that I want her but I am not going to take her, she has cast a spell on me". Chapter after chapter of repeating those words in different ways
Not your usual hoaky love story...
Both exciting and romantic, can't ask for more, thanks Showalter.

    Title: Mystic Warrior
Subtitle: Book I of the Bronze Canticles Trilogy
    Author: Tracy Hickman, Laura Hickman
    Narrator: LLoyd James
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 14 hrs and 42 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-05-04
    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 303 votes
    Genres: Romance, Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
The Bronze Canticles is an expansive new saga chronicling the world-altering changes that take place as three connected universes, the Human world, the Goblin world, and the Faery world, are slowly drawn together.
In Book One, Mystic Warrior, young Galen Arvad, a human with magical powers, must avoid the ritual that puts those with such talents to death. It seems that in the eyes of the community, magic is a sign of lunacy, and in a yearly ritual the local "crazies" are offered up to the Dragon Priests. Galen is suddenly captured and imprisoned. Now, as Galen's wife, Berkita, and his friend, Cephas the dwarf, set off to rescue him, Galen learns of the fate that awaits him, a fate far worse than even his own death.
    Critic Reviews:
"Impressive and provocative fantasy....This emotionally intense novel's meticulously crafted magical system and likeable characters evoke an atmosphere both timely and timeless. While lively action sequences and rich descriptive passages provide plenty of excitement, mature examinations of politics and individual responsibility lend philosophical weight and emotional poignancy....A fine example of socially conscious and unpredictable imaginative fiction." (Publishers Weekly)

    Great story and characters
This is a wonderful book. I took it on a 9 hour trip, and I couldn't wait for the return trip to finish it!
I was a little confused at first, because of the way the story starts out, but once the story really got going I was completely entranced. I love they way the stories weave in and out of each other, developing each character individually, but not completely excluding the others. The way the characters see each other in their dreams is some of my favorite parts of the story. My only complaint was that the authors dropped off Galen's wife's tale.
The complexity of the stories intertwining give the story a lot of depth and I can't wait until the next book comes out.
Appealing to fantasy and non-fantasy fans alike.
This is original fantasy right up there with George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice & Fire series (though VERY different). The authors build a complex world inhabited by goblins, men, dragons and dwarves that in no way resembles anything I've ever read before (and I am a fantasy fan). Miraculously, this story does not include the same host of familiar (and, by now, tiresome) characters first created by Tolkien. This may be the first fantasy book I've read that doesn't include ANY of the following characters: 1. hapless country lad who only wants to lead a quiet life but is forced to leave his home by a 2. wise old wizard/teacher who has chosen him for a dangerous quest to save the world or 3. a tall, solitary and brooding ranger with a mysterious and kingly past who protected aforementioned lad and old man on their quest. Try this book, even if you don't like fantasy, you won't regret it.
    Great Story, GREAT Narration!
I'm a fantasy fan who hasn't indulged in fantasy in a long while. Usually, the titles and descriptions are so similar that I quickly get underwhelmed. Fortunately, Mystic Warrior was the perfect re-entry into the genre I love so much.

was she on meth when she wrote this???
What disappointed you about Undead and Underwater?
This book isn't about queen Betsy antics or friends/husband/satan/ghosts or vampires. Sooooo disappointing. I normally love these books, but this was so manic that the storyline made zero sense.
What do you think your next listen will be?
    Moon Island by JR Rain
Would you listen to another book narrated by Nancy Wu?
Mmmaybe. I can't tell if her manic delivery of the story was her portraying these unstable characters or if she is a spaz. I did think she was funny.
What character would you cut from Undead and Underwater?
    Fred
    Any additional comments?
I do love the Queen Betsy series to death. (Pun) I just hope the next book that says "Undead and ..." on the cover will actually be about Betsy.
    Disappointed
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If this had been a true continuation of the previous stories, I would have given it a much higher review. This is just a mish mash of a bunch of randomness.
Would you ever listen to anything by MaryJanice Davidson again?
Possibly. I'm feeling pretty burned at the moment.
What about Nancy Wus performance did you like?
She's always great. I really enjoy listening to her.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Undead and Underwater?
    Most of them.
    Any additional comments?
    Complete waste of a credit.
    Not what I expected.
Would you consider the audio edition of Undead and Underwater to be better than the print version?
    Never "read" it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Betsy, of course. Fred was also interesting.
Which character as performed by Nancy Wu was your favorite?
Again, I gotta say Betsy. I love her.
    Any additional comments?
Anything written by MJD entitled "Undead..." SHOULD BE TOTALLY ABOUT BETSY AND HER ENTOURAGE.

    Snow White or Barbie?
What disappointed you about Melted by the Dragon?
The narrator! Not the nartator herself but the main characters voice. When Danielle used her own voice it wasn't bad but the main character sounded weak and whiney.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Danielle Brown?
David Brenin is my favorite but Tillie Hooper would have done a good job.it wasn't that Michelle Brown was horrible she just needed some direction.
What character would you cut from Melted by the Dragon?
    I didn't get that far.
    Any additional comments?
I actually really like this series and was excited to listen to the book. I tried to get over the bad narration but it was like nails on a chalk board!
    Need a new Narrator
If I did not purchase this audible book I would have turned it off. The plot is the reason I purchased this book but the readers were horrible. The heroin sounded like a ten year old. The male character was just barely acceptable. The two characters getting romantic had me fast forwarding to the end of scene. Please hired better readers so I can enjoy your books.
Avid audio book listener. Tomah, WI.
I enjoy Amira Rains stories a lot, that being said the narration was terrible. Absolutely terrible.
    Interesting story
Very creative storyline. Characters were interesting but not intense. The narration had several misses and errors that were not deleted but this did not detract from the story for me.
Story was great, but the narrator needs work.
Where does Melted by the Dragon rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
The story was great, but the narrator was not good.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator was not good. She keep repeating sentences and her voice was a little grinding in your ears.

Couldn't wait to hear this one!
What made the experience of listening to Stardust of Yesterday the most enjoyable?
I read the book years ago when it was first published, loved it and was looking for it to add to my Kindle library. I was pleased and delighted to see it in your audio collection. I started listening and was not dissappointed at all. Loved it from beginning to end.
What did you like best about this story?
The whole idea of a love story between a handsome medevial ghost and a modern woman as just too yummy to resist.
What does Ilyana Kadushin bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
She truly gave life to the characters in the story. I was not disappointed with her take on how each character sounded.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I loved the story the first time I read it and simply loved the audio version as well. Every emotion I felt when I read it came back and hit me as I listened.
    Any additional comments?
Will look for some of my other favorites narrated by llyana Kadushin.
    One of my favorites
When a book is a favorite it can be a disappointment listening to someone else read/interpret it. I love these characters so was apprehensive. This narrator is wonderful with the characters. I hope she narrates the rest of Kurland's books.
    Outstanding!!!
This book was one of the most outstanding books she has ever written! I recommend it highly

    Extremely Sensual
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
No. I don't have any friends who are open minded enough for the erotic contents of this VERY steamy novel.
What did you like best about this story?
I love that the author was able to add some snarkiness in parts of the story which the narrator portrayed very well.
What does Rebecca Cook bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Rebecca Cook did a wonderful job narrating. Great timing and great voices added so much to the story.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Don't take a first date to this movie.

    Omega is Mega Awesome
I really enjoyed the Penton Legacy. I thought all three books were well written and very unique (which is a huge feat for a vampire romance book). The characters feel so real and relatable that you begin to think the Penton scathe actually exists. And I want to be a bonded human!
I highly suggest reading Redemption (book 1) and Absolution (book 2) before picking this one up. You will not be disappointed. However, I think this book could stand on its own as well.
This is suppose to be a trilogy, but it is left open for more books or a spin-off. Here's hoping it's not the last of the Penton series.
Definitely worth a credit, but for under $10 it's a bargain.
    PENTON WHERE PARANORMAL+HUMANS LIVE HARMONIOUSLY
Well my bags are packed and I'm ready to become a Bonded human in Penton Alabama where the Vampires are hot, needy and ohh sooo Alpha.
This was the conclusion to the series and therefore had several plots and lots of interesting sub plots going on but it was mainly Will's story (boy has he got his hands full) as he tries to come to terms with his past**, destroy his Father, continues to try prove himself worthy to the other residents of Penton and get down and dirty with his team member Randa. It's well written with the old familiar characters as well as surprising new ones, there's intrigue, action, conflict, surprising alliances, there was romance although I didn't find it as romantic as the previous books but it was a playful romance. The Tribunal had the final judgement over the wrongs and rights that were done at Penton.
Although it concluded it did leave certain things wide open either for another book (or two..... or more) or a new spin-off series - here's hoping.
Worth a credit? Come on..... If you've listened to the other 2 books then you've just got to get this, but for $9.79 I decided to buy it and save my credits for more costly books. As this is a conclusion to a series it's not a stand alone listen (so start at the beginning, download all 3 you won't be disappointed).
**A little warning - child abuse was mentioned and his evil tormentor is second in command to Will's Father, however it wasn't graphic or salacious but just part of the plot.
    To much attitude
While I am enjoying this series the narrator takes from it. The narrator made most of the characters sound like teenagers with bad attitudes. This is not the first book I have noticed this issue with.

He didn't realize sadistic doctors would turn him into the experiment - by injecting him with blood from a captured Caeorleian, Seral Iorflas.

But then, thanks to the experiment that irrevocably changed him, he isn't exactly human any longer - and with each passing day, as his blood bond with Seral strengthens, he's less and less sure as to whose side he's on.
    Members Reviews:
    I really enjoyed the story!
I thought that the main characters were great. Kind of a futuristic Romeo and Romeo. I would recommend this book to listeners
    A Pleasant Surprise!
If you could sum up The Experiment in three words, what would they be?
    Aliens. Sex. Revenge.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Experiment?
The first time Ryker was being examined by the doctors on Caeorleia and then later had to explain some of what he had endured while being on the ship prior to arriving on Caeorleia. The entire scene was emotional and my heart bleed for Ryker.
Have you listened to any of Shaun Leonhardts other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not prior to listening to this book, but he did an amazing job (especially considering all the foreign words) and I will for sure be looking for other books narrated by him.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A hero with nothing to loose... or so he thought.
    Any additional comments?
I don't read alien books, but my friend had gotten this audio book and had been giving me text updates over how ridiculous this book was. It made me really curious, so I got it thinking it would be awful. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was not the case. I found instead that the book was incredibly well thought out with lots on interesting characters, scenes, and a ton of originality. I liked everything about it.
Its not perfect, some things could obviously be tweaked, but for the most part it was fun to listen to. If there was a little more humor maybe to balance it all out, it would be perfect.
I know there is a published sequel and I hope more then anything that it is turned into an audio book as well.
    Synopsis deceptive, It's gay porn.
I loved the book until about an hour and a half in where guy on guy action exploded onto the scene (laugh). I was getting interested in the story then the fake romance started to appear. I ignored it hoping it was just some character building but I was wrong. The gay scene was very graphic. I went back to the book on audiable trying to figure out what happened and noticed up top it says romance. Son of a... I did a search for scifi, the synopsis has no hint of porn and the cover could be just some alien looking down at a victom. I re-checked the new realease search and of course it does not say it's a romance. You have to click into the details to figure it out. That is not right. I feel like audiable and the publisher are in colusion to trick me into buying romance novels. The book has some kinda of split personality disorder.
