Another great book in a great series

This is a really sweet story...

Mr. Putter is old and lonely and needs a furry friend...

He finds Tabby at a shelter who is also old and lonely and finds a friend in Mr. Putter.

A delightful, warm story that explains how Mr. Putter & Tabby started.

What "I" love is that Cynthia Rylant has quite a knack for writing children's books.

Her books are so engaging.

My daughter (6) LOVES reading her books...

Not only are her stories magnificent but the artwork is always so crisp, colorful and refreshing...adding so much to the story.

Highly recommend this or any of the other Mr. Putter & Tabby books in the series.

Great stories for children and adults

Must have all the Mr Putter and Tabby books. Great stories for children and adults!!

Heartwarming Series!

So touching and heartwarming! My first grader loves this beautiful series about an elderly man and his cat. It seems like such an unlikely subject, but it captures my children's attention, and my heart!

We read this one over and over

I may have written other reviews for this book--since I have purchased multiple copies. It is the most delightful story imaginable,Mr. Putter & Tabby Pour the Teaabout the life of an aging fellow who finds a friend in an aging cat who also needs a home. I HIGHLY recommend the Mr. Putter stories, and I think Mr Putter and Tabby Pour the tea is The Best.

Title: The Musicians of Bremen

Author: Ann Rogers

Narrator: Roderick Cook

Format: Unabridged

Length: 8 mins

Language: English

Release date: 06-18-08

Publisher: Weston Woods Studios

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 12 votes

Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7

Publisher's Summary:

Four musicians, off to earn their living in Bremen, sing for their supper on the way - with remarkable and hilarious results.

©1974 Ann Rogers; (P)1979 Weston Woods

Editorial Reviews:

Virtuosic stage presence Roderick Cook found acclaim under the bright lights of Londons West End, establishing himself as a premier lead in Shakespearean productions of the '50s and '60s. Here, however, Cooks theatrical bellows play host to a frolicsome folktale from the Brothers Grimm. "The Musicians of Bremen" follows four farmyard friends, too old to be of use to their masters, as they set forth for Bremen, intending to start new lives as musicians. On their way, the barnyard band runs across a gang of robbers. Hilarious havoc ensues, as Cook crows, haws, bleats, and barks his way through a rollicking riot between creatures and crooks. The eloquent Englishman Cook serenades listeners with warm, singsong intimacy, his vibrantly voiced characters teeming with old-world enchantment.

A touching if bittersweet parable about the nature of memory and the relationship between young and old. Little Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge lives near an old people's home and knows everyone there, so when one of the residents loses her memory, he sets out to find it for her. The plan works better than you might imagine. Author and performer Mem Fox's voice is gentle and sweet, and sensitive music filters in and out of the recording. App users will no doubt enjoy watching the lovely watercolor illustrations flit past.

A Tender Story

What did you love best about Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge?

The story has a great deal of charm.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Wilfred, of course, because he was too innocent to understand that he was undertaking the impossible.

What about Mem Foxs performance did you like?

I liked Mr. Drystale, "Who had a voice like a giant."

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I'm a grown man, so I only cried a little. (When no one was looking.)

Marvelous Mem

I love the story of little Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge. I use this story every year as I lead my fourth grade writers to look inside for topics...things they remember, that are warm, that make them cry and laugh, things from long ago, and things that are as precious as gold to them. It works, just like the boy's basket worked for Ms. Nancy! Awesome story, awesome recording!

Wonderful

Great book for teaching about memories and the value of older people.

Great books for your beginner reader (these were a hit ...

Great books for your beginner reader (these were a hit with 1st graders!). The entire Mr. Putter and Tabby series is very cute and we have almost all of them. They are easy to read and have a good story line in each book. If you are stepping up from stories to chapter books these are a great transition.

I especially love this book

My whole family adores the Mr. Putter and Tabby series. I especially love this book. It has a very simple premise and was easy for my children (ages 2 and 4) to relate to. It also has very short chapters, which is exciting to my oldest, emerging reader. Great books.

Another gem...

My 6-year-old daughter loves the Mr. Putter and Tabby books... They're so colorful and humorous... There's nothing like a child being encouraged to read because the content of the book is so entertaining! We have several in the series and are so happy with being able to have a fun collection from which she can pick and choose for any occasion. After a while, Mr. Putter, Tabby, Mrs. Teaberry and Zeke all start to feel like family :)

Love Mr. Putter and Tabby

I love Mr. Putter. Cynthia Rylant is one of my favorite childrens authors. The capers that Mr Putter and Tabby get into are a fun filled time. I read these stories to my children and now have rekindled the fun with my grandson who is 8 and able to read these with a small amount of help.

one of my favorites

I have all of the Mr. Putter and Tabby books and this is one of my favorites. I enjoyed the story line and love Arthur Howard's illustrations! He did an excellent job of making Cynthia Rylant's words come to life.

Gwyn's newfound magic is put to the test in this fast-paced conclusion to Jenny Nimmo's award-winning fantasy trilogy. Excellent Conclusion

All the ladies drooling over Evan was pretty funny. Nia's loyalty to Evan was sweet and endearing. Everyone needs to be believed in.
