Not what I expected

I am not to picky when it comes to lesbian romance stories but this was by far my least favorite. so predictable and annoying. I found myself rolling my eyes every few mins.

Good story.

It was a good story. A little cheesy at times but overall pretty good. Nice ending.

Hate this narrator

I need to start paying attention to the narrator before I buy an audio book, because I'll never buy another read by this one. A medium rating was the best I could give the story because the narrator irritated me so much, I couldn't finish listening to judge whether the story is good or not. Maybe I'll revise the rating after I read the printed version for myself. This narrator made me feel like a third grader at story time. Her sing-song tone never changed, even when the two main characters were dealing with the death of a patient. To make matters worse, she gave one character a girlish voice when the character described was anything but childish.

Honest

Violated is a well written story and a very accurate portrayal of someone whohas gone through this level of trauma. The story also touches on the additional social and legal traumas of this kind of experience, but still allows the characters a positive future.

Aside from Performance which never detracted or got in the way of the story, I had a REALLY hard time deciding how to apply the star ratings. On one hand it is important to acknowledge that this Does happens and just how strong and lasting an impact it has on the survivor's life. Once it gets going, this story does that w/ grace and honesty. It seemed to me that it took half the book to really get started but then it is excellent. On the other hand I am extremely disturbed by just how often sexual violence is part of our culture's "entertainment" in books, movies and TV.

Because it is honest, well written, about healing & gives voice to experiences that need to be acknowledged, I gave 5 Overall. Because the of the very slow build up & adding to the ubiquitous sexual violence, in fiction I gave the Story 3. [Yes, I understand the irony of my having purchased the book]

Totally enjoyed listening to this

This story was very interesting. It was about male rape which we don't often hear about, because men do not report these rapes not wanting to expose their vulnerabilities. It was very informative and revealed the criminal justice system with all of its flaws. The story was well written and I recommend it.

Very tough subject handled beautifully

This is a tough, tough story about a man whose identity as a man has been amazingly distorted not just once but many times over. Its bad enough that hes endured a rape at the hands of his best friend, but the fact that it was anal sex in particular strikes a chord in him due to his fathers horrible abuse. In addition to that, his boyfriend doubts him, the people at work doubt him, and frankly, he doubts himself.

What makes this a good book is that it doesnt try to make anything perfect or fixed. Even at the end, its a work in progress. Though its lovely when all the ends are tied up neatly by the end of a story, its rarely realistic and this acknowledges that fact. The epilogue shows our MC two years later and hes still far from perfect.

I was lost, confused, and befuddled for most of the story.

There are a lot of characters, and they all have difficult names, and the places are all fantasy-named and it was all really confusing for me.

Listening to this was my first time with the story and I just found it difficult to follow along with everything that was happening.

Puss In Boots has a hot new plot!

What did you love best about The Servant?

As I recall reading this book from 2011, it was part of a collection of stories where authors rewrote a classic fairytale and made the MCs both men. A fun collection to read for sure! The Servant seemed loosely based upon The Master Cataa, or Puss in Boots.

Daemon hides his secret away after being cursed by a witch, sacrificing family and brotherhood to live out his life in the shadows, serving the best causes he can find. So he makes it his life goal to do whatever needs be done to promote the wellness and advancement of Ehron. Much like the prince who was shoved in the river with no clothes to gather the attention of passing nobility in Puss In Boots, Daemon does many fantastical things to ensure Ehron gets noticed by important people too.

There is plenty of adventure, fantasy, and action in this book, and the plot diverges enough from the old fairytale to become an original. I enjoyed the romance, the humor and the nail-biting tension in this story. I also enjoyed the steamy connection between Gareth and Daemon, that would have changed this childhood favorite for sure!

The only downside, which did slow things down for me, was the extensive list of proper nouns. The plot could have been much smoother if some locations, country names, unnecessary character names, could have been generalized. There were too many to keep track of. I think a quarter of this book was spent introducing names, ranks, and country names of characters and places that really did not hold a significant role in the plot. But that is my only complaint, so if you can speed read/listen past those stagnant introductions and just pay attention to the main characters, youre going to love this. True fantasy romance! Swash buckling, superhuman feats, and bonds of love that stand the test of time and turmoil! What more can I ask for?

Oh yes, I can ask for an amazing narrator! Did I mention Greg Tremblay is a rock star? He gives wonderful variations to each character and breathes much passion into the dialogue.

It was good a read up until it abruptly ended. Would of been 10 times better if it was alot longer and more to the story.

GREAT

Great short story. Kept me interested the entire time and wanting to read more. There is an interesting story line along with 2 hot men wanting their captive sexually.

I sort of enjoyed this, but was also annoyed by a few things. Since its in the romance package Im going to give the series another chance, but I would probably not if I was to pay a credit for the next book.

The mc annoyed me somewhat. I didnt really get his over the top explosions. I know there were some explanations, but perhaps he is just too different from me, I just did not get him at all.

Im sorry to say that the narrations grated my nerves a bit too. It felt like the words were drawn out and pronounced too carefully. Not sure Im making sense.

But in conclusion there were good parts and annoying parts.

Tamer than I expected

Sweet friends to lovers story. Well written but very tame- so if you are looking for more sweet than sexy you will like this audiobook. Narrator was okay.

This version of the book was just as perfect as the written one, the performance was incredible and it really helped me get into the story really fast.

Wonderful story, quality audio

The story is wonderful. The quality of the narration, different voices, appropriate accents, and correct pronunciation, is great. But I don't love the sound of the narrator's voice, and I particularly don't love it for these characters. It's definitely worth listening to, but I never was able to engage completely like I am when the voice fits. Perhaps the voice fits perfectly for others however, and I hope that is so.

this had a good story but the conflict at the end was lame and unnecessary

Sweet but unintentional Funny at times

The story is good and overall i liked it. It does have some flaws (like a extremely Young Well-established family doctor, she must have skipped like 6-10grades). The Funny part is that both MCs Seem to suffer from the same character flaw, because they both Seem to have the attention span of a goldfish. They go of to do something EXRTEMELY important ("i have to find him, what if he is dead - uh theres my ex, let me go have coffees with him" kind of situations) and ends up doing something Else for an hour or Two. The mother is EVIL MAJOR and i do Think that she should have had some redeeming qualities or have suffered an entirely different fate Than she did. But looking past this, the story is a sweet love story that i enjoyed

Good hurt/comfort book, great narration

Elias is an addict. His last stint in rehab is court ordered when he almost died of an overdose. He blames his mothers lack of love for his addiction and his sister for being too perfect. Hes 26 and lived most of his life under the influence and on the streets. His twin sister, Ellie, is the towns perfect doctor with a thriving practice. His mother is the towns mayor and his father died before he was born.

This time around his mother has set him up with an apartment and a counseling plan. This is where he meets Caden.

Caden is a writer from New York who is trying to work on his novel while taking a break in Maine to work for his mothers rehab program.

Though the two have no business doing it, they fall in live while working with one another. This causes no end of troubles for the two and threatens to de-rail both of their mothers careers.

Elias is one of those characters who make your heart bleed. Hes been beat down over and over and his only coping mechanism has been drugs.

I was really disappointed in the characters in this book, both Cam and Jason. I was really looking forward to Jason's story also because he was such a rock to Sean with his relationship issues but he fell really short for me.

My problem with Jason was: 1) why would you go after a team mates friend when you knew he had feelings for

this particular person

2) You were more upset with not having someone to cook you breakfast

rather than Cam not being there in the first place.

3) totally ignoring Cam when the whole team was around

Cam was: 1) being a total CRAP friend to Drew/totally disregarding any of his feelings or just talking to him while he was sober plus not being there as a friend/person should be!

2) saying one thing and meaning another, how messed up is that?!?!!

3) you piss all over someone (Jason) when they are sticking up for you even though they may be outing themselves

Just too many things annoyed me with the one, good thing I read the 3rd book first otherwise I would have never read any more after this book. Sorry to say this one wasn't what I expected it to be. :-( Not even sure if I should go on from here reading the series. ( I did enjoy book 1 and 3 though

I really enjoy this series, have read them and am now enjoying the audio, which is like reading a new story. I liked the narrator except for Cam. It was strange to have this slight guy have a really deep voice, didn't feel like it fit.

I have to say there was one point where I actually laughed pretty hard. And it wasn't even intentional. It was an editing error with the audiobook. The narrator messes up a line about 2/3 of the way in and he stops and says "Oh my GOD I can't..." Then he starts the line over and gets it correct. But still that one burst of annoyance was so unexpected it made me laugh.

Very entertaining, a great story

What made the experience of listening to His Touch of Ice the most enjoyable?

how easy it was to get involved on the story, also how easy was to undestand what was going on. English is not my first lenguage and i was able to undestand it well enough, i didn't get lost on who was talking since the change of voive was very clear.

What did you like best about this story?

the plot, it was very unexpected, full of twists and action

there wasn't one, there were severa of favorite scenesl, mostly the ones when a major plot twist was explain, like the moment before they runaway or when Guy explain some stuffs to Jason but I'm not going to say more to leave the review free from spoilers

Ruined by narrator

Sweet story ruined by the narrator. Jonty and Orlando are in their late 20's, not last 70's. I thought I could get used to the slow, old voice, but couldn't do it.

What I loved most about this story was the relationship between Jonty and Orlando. They are so sweet together. I also loved the fact that I did not know who the murderer was until just before the end.

I have loved this series for years and am so glad the first book and hopefully not last is in audio format. I love Orlando and Jonny.

What did you love best about Undone?

Other than a new series with new characters? The hints of characters/places from previous books were fun. I always enjoy the way Charity is able to bring so much to a character is such a short venue.

Chance is just too darn cute! I love the way he can play Jackson into doing what he needs him to do.

What does Hollie Jackson bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

With so many men introduced into the beginning of a series that features m/m romance, Hollie does an awesome job of giving each man their own voice. You can tell who is speaking at anyone time easily.

the story was ok. it hit all the key points- angst, shame, perceived obstacle, lust and brevity.
