Powerful and Heart wrenching...

What a powerful story and a powerful message! Not wanting to share too much and spoil the essence of this story, I'll just say that the author's ability to describe the emotional quagmire that exists in certain environments brought back some painful memories and fed into my desire for obtaining a happily ever after. Though the ending was not how I had hoped, it fit with the message of this story. The writing techniques of PT Denys and the expert narration provided by Bryant Sullivan made 11 plus hours fly by. A definite recommend...

Wow... This Book Took My Breath Away

This was a depressing book. Good but depressing. It just reminds you that their really is some crazy people out there in this world. I have to listen to a happy story after this one, to help balance my world view.

Cancer is a *itch

While in some ways this was a hard book to get through because Andrews Grey lets their fears and pain show through. Yet it is uplifting because they refuse to give up or give in to cancer. They find ways through and new ways to connect. This story doesn't sugar coat the process of moving through the treatment of cancer.

Solid Performance

A story about a hot football star falling for a gorgeous cross-dressing genius? Oh, hell yeah. I. Am. Riveted.

Add tons of humor and sexiness with the delightful narration of John-Paul Barrel...and you have one happy girl here.

I really enjoyed John-Paul's narration. There were a couple of breathy points and some editing drops, but they go by quickly and don't make a great many appearances, certainly not enough to diminish the enjoyment of the story.

Unfortunately my Big Pet Peeve "Miscommunication" makes an unwanted appearance.

Thankfully, the miscommunication is corrected in a timely manner and was handled well enough my head didn't explode. Other that that there weren't any over-the-top unnecessary drama moments, which I was grateful for, because the narration really is all the entertainment you need.

John-Paul Barrel made me laugh, get a little teary-eyed, and gave enough heat to the sexy times to have me glancing around to see if anyone was looking at me...you know what I mean? *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* And can I just take one more moment to drool some more over that FANTASTIC cover by Cover Artist Anna Sikorska?

Bottom line: I was thoroughly entertained with only minor bumps in my happiness highway. Recommended!

Some highs and lows

So much to say about this one! I have to just start spewing things out before I forget!

I want to talk about the narration of the audiobook first because I think that that was key to my overall feeling/rating for the book. This was a very difficult book to narrate, both because of the range of voices required and how much they needed to differ in tone. John-Paul Barrel did a very nice job differentiating between voices. In fact, I was really impressed how he managed to go from the super deep voice of six foot seven inch, 300 pound Jamal Jones to the higher register of Trixie LaRue. This narrator tried soooo hard to get it right! I want to really applaud him on his effort.

However, though his range of voices was really good, I didn't really like his cadence. The narration was very choppy feelings with lots of pauses and hesitations.

Not bad but not good. I like books with BDSM but this authors take on discovering kink bothers me. Fiction or not my mind, on several occasions, was screaming "safe word"!

I want my own personal stalker

I flippin LOVED this book. LOVED IT!!! I mean, I loved it SO much that even though I just finished it, I'm going to listen to it AGAIN. And I just don't do that. Ever. I don't know who R.D. Hero is, but s/he is my m/m author hero!!! FANTASTIC LISTEN. Ok... enough fanfare.... This story is all about its title, and it is worth a credit, cash, whatever... JUST GET IT.

Michael Stellman is a great reader. Ill be on the lookout for more of his stuff.

As for characters, meet Abel, Twinky Stalker/Photographer extraordinaire who is stalking Eric, the typical virile college football Hercules in the flesh. And last, but certainly not least, meet Pacer, Hercules' buff BFF and football teammate, who has unwavering high self-esteem, and a persistent, dominating personality complex to boot!! Oh and he has his sights set on Abel. WATCH OUT! LOLOL Can I just say how much I admire Pacer. I certainly wish I had been just as secure in who I was, and what I wanted when I was his age. (I need a time machine!)

Anyway, I won't give up all the details, but I will mention the things I appreciated most about this book. I love reading about personal growth, sexual exploration, messing up, but being an adult about it and actually apologizing! Then theres the always heart-warming idea of finding someone-- friend or lover--who you can be 'more' honest and more like the 'real' you when around him.

In addition, its a delight to read stories where just as it is true in real life, 'story' life NEVER goes according to plan. How about the realization that love, or the possibility of love, can and probably will be a messy (but fun) adventure. Oh and of course, the notion that it really is OK to make mistakes -- I mean, look at me, I make a LOT of them!! Think about it, how else would you end up with a happy-ish ending?

Michael Stellman is just perfection when narrating older teens and Young adults characters. The spark of life he brings to characters, as well as, the world the author created is entertainment at its best.

Frustrating story

This is Jordan's book. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first. Although I appreciated his struggle with coming to terms with his past, his back and forth with Ken was eye rolling. I thought Ken was a jerk and treated Jordan pretty bad. I get he was all self-pitying because of his accident, but that only went so far. And the fact that Jordan kept acknowledging the bad treatment but went back to him time and time again drove me crazy. But I gritted my teeth hoping it would get better. It didn't. The narrator did a good job bringing the romance to life and it was great visiting Cooper and Shawn again, but the story just didn't work for me.

Ms. Maxfield Has Done It To Me Again

Ms Maxfield has done it to me again. She grabbed me by the heart and rocketed me through this book with a smile on my face and a song in my soul.

I know I'm rhapsodizing here, but I can't help it. Not only is she a great writer, she is also a gentle, passionate and totally subversive one. Even when she occasionally adheres to standard M/M memes (there has to be a hospital, doesn't there?), she does it so uniquely and vividly that it all seems original and new.

I found her books just 36 hours ago, and I've been binge-reading ever since. I just finished my third, and I can't wait for the next one.

Although he's fit and recently served in the Israeli military, Jacob (Yasha) gets beaten to a pulp by his ostensible "lover" when Jacob catches him in the midst of an orgy in their bedroom. He was only able to do that because Jacob was weakened by a really bad case of flu. Typical abuser, Sander blames it on Jacob, the victim.

Jacob is laid off because of his flu and then fired when the boss' lover takes over. So he heads out on a bus to stay, for a while, with his beloved (and very successful) brother, Dani, when the bus driver, hearing him cough, kicks him off the bus in the middle of nowhere - a little town near the California coast named "St. Nacho's" (short for San Ingnacio).

And here's where Ms. Maxfield gets seriously subversive. Both Jacob, and the lovely boy EMT who rescues him when he fails to leave his room for three days, are Jewish. For those who may not know about it, there is a lovely word in Yiddish for "happiness", "pride in your children" and other good things called "Nachas" (or Naches, in some transliterations). Coincidence? I think not, since much of the rest of the story revolves around Jacob, Dani and their grandfather's (tzeyde's) family life, and their unbreakable bond of love and support.

I won't go into much of the rest of the plot - it's yours to discover and savor. But this author is just brilliant at describing place and character through evocative metaphor.

Fabulous.

A wonderful beginning to what will hopefully prove an epic and incredibly sexy series. Lancelot is the first-person narrator of this very grown-up spin on the Camelot saga. Lance is torn between his love of a mysterious new hanger-on named Else and his long-denied passion for his King. In the novel, Lance has passionate encounters with both men and women and Luddington writes love scenes with great skill. The characters fit beautifully into the Arthurian world and her take on Lancelot and Arthur have the reader very invested in the characters and their relationship. The narration by Joel Leslie is excellent - brooding, sexy and with great character range. Not strictly m/m erotica - but a complex and exciting fantasy that delivers.

A sexy, smart tale fit for a King.

A surprising delight. Sarah Luddington has taken all the latent sexy qualities of the Camelot legend and bumped them up with amazing results. The story is told from Lancelot's point of view, which I loved. The character is dark, dangerous and very, very sexy. The character relationships are complex and lay the foundation work for what could be a very exciting epic saga. Lance has amorous adventures with women while trying to escape a life-long forbidden obsession with Arthur. The writing is sensual, exciting and while there are great steamy moments - the storytelling and character development is what leaves the reader hungry for more. If you're turned off by m/m romance then this isn't the Camelot for you - but for readers like me, it's got Merlin's magic touch. The narration is excellent - he provides clear, strong characterizations with humor and right touch of wry wit.

Really Good Lesbian Romance

Only slightly longer than the average novella this is a lesbian love story that avoids much of the driftwood that floats into most of this genre's works. There is of course the requisite breakup; this time though not for all the usual specious reasons occurring only in romantic literature. Set on Cape Cod during the offseason, where a chance occurrence at age thirteen culminating close to two decades later this is a quick and easy lesson for fans of romance novels.

Dull and overly predictable

The story was too predictable and the plot boring. Girl divorces husband, moves back home, rekindles romance with high school girl crush, resistance from said high school girl for fear of broken heart and then happily ever after. Perhaps if the story was longer and had more time to develop it would be better but I found myself bored and waiting for it to end so I could look for another read.

Also, the reader's voice is not distinguished enough between characters. Many times I felt as though personalities were crossing over or exaggerated too much to make a clear distinction. Made the story less believable over all.

A sweet little tale, my only complaint being that the end came too soon. I wasn't ready to let go of the characters. Well written, well read, HEA, what more can you ask for?

What made the experience of listening to Seven Minutes in Heaven the most enjoyable?

I think it was overall well-done, from the writing to the performance. I really appreciate the writing, because many stories that have erotic scenes aren't well-written. This story was written beautifully.

What about Stephanie Murphys performance did you like?

I really like Stephanie's performance. She has good pacing and speech as well as pronunciation. Her tone throughout was really well-done and she's pleasant to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! I was sad whenever I had to stop listening for some reason. It's a short story so I was able to listen to the entire story in 2-3 sittings, but would have finished in one if I could have. I really wanted to know what happens next to the characters.

I would definitely recommend this story to anyone. It's short and sweet, and heartwarming.

Really sweet comfort read

It is the story of Dixon, who lost his sight and his partner in an accident. He returns home to his family with their young daughter and meets Audie, the father of his daughter's schoolmate. Dixon is having a hard time adjusting to being blind and Audie is a wonderful cowboy looking for love. The kids play a big role and there are also well meaning but overbearing moms. Not a lot of drama or angst. The narrator is a favorite and does a great job. The only issue I had was a production error. Throughout the book, at random points, the narration suddenly sounded muffled. Like they went back to correct some dialogue, but the sound quality changed dramatically. It was only for a second or two but it was enough to draw me out of the story. It was very annoying.

I loved the plot, the characters Audie and Dixon and their character development, and the story on the whole.

What I didn't love was the choppy editing of the narration, the sound quality, and the rushed ending.

This story has a trope I really enjoy: hurt/comfort. Dixon has lost both his husband and his sight in a horrific car accident. He's forced to move home with his parents because he can't do for himself, and needs time to get better and regroup before going to a special school that teaches people how to cope with their blindness. His daughter, Randi is having a really hard time adjusting to the changes in their life as well and acting out, particularly at school by hitting another child, Grainger. Grainger's father Audie is called in and is surprised to find out that his son has been fighting, and that the other child is a girl and a little spitfire. Audie is surprised again to find out that Dixon is gay and very out with it, particularly as his own homosexuality is a closely guarded secret.

The children were well characterized, and, thankfully, not present enough to be a bother to me. I liked both Audie and Dixon, especially that they were both human and flawed and just trying to do the best they could, and in Dixon's case, making the best out of a truly shitty situation.

The two men begin to spend time together because of the children and slowly begin building a relationship.

Can't get enough!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Phoenix and Wade equally. I loved how compassionate and love Phoenix is and how he wanted to take care of Wade. I loved how sweet Wade was.

Which scene was your favorite?

The ending was my favorite. I loved that Phoenix found and rescued Wade again and that Phoenix told Wade he wanted to take him home.

Any additional comments?

The chemistry between the characters was hot!! I can't wait for more!!

Very Cliche' ever

I can't. Its just so ........ Cliche. It was predictable and cringe worthy. Again, I can't.
