After 10 years as an active-duty marine, Captain Eric Ramos is rejoining civilian life. His first job is chauffeuring, assisting, and generally keeping track of NBA young gun Tyler Haley. Tyler's had a rough few months, and his team owner is convinced he needs some hand-holding if he's going to keep delivering wins for the St. Louis Fire Foxes.
Instead of the arrogant, overprivileged athlete Eric expected, Tyler is a big, blond, 23-year-old who needs more than just an employee to keep him in line. While taking care of Tyler, Eric changes from employee to friend to something more. And when Eric realizes that something is burning the kid up from the inside out, he's determined to find a way to help him before Tyler's carefully constructed facade turns to ash.

Loved the book, enjoyed the audio version.
Would you listen to Fire Inside again? Why?
Probably not. Not to say it was bad, there are just so many, many, more audio's in my library that I enjoyed more.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ramos, his tone very much matched his rugged exterior and the way I pictured him when I read the book.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes, it just didn't match the age for Tyler.
If you could take any character from Fire Inside out to dinner, who would it be and why?
    Ramos, he's sexy
    Any additional comments?
    E-book review from June 2014
Short, Sexy and Steamy! My three favorite colors!!
Retired Marine Eric Ramos is taking on civilian life as the personal assistant/bodyguard for a Professional Basketball player that hasn't had the best of luck with his staff. After fighting for our country as a marine, suffering from PTSD and dealing with 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' in the military... Eric is pretty sure he can handle one spoiled basketball player. Boy does he have his work cut out for him.
From the first meeting Eric is mesmerized with the tall, lithe basketball player with white blonde curly hair and sad eyes. Tyler Haley is very much like a child. Perhaps growing up in the system robbed him of something that he is now starving for, a life unlived. Eric quickly learns how Tyler works, his little ticks and what sends him over the edge. Tyler suffers from panic attacks and he is oddly very shy and withdrawn. Over the first few weeks that Eric and Tyler work in close quarters, Tyler stars to let down his guard and get more comfortable with Ram (what Tyler calls Eric).
Little by little Eric begins to peel back the layers that Tyler hides under and they get under one another's skin. But just when Eric thinks that he's figured out how to care for Tyler and keep him safe and happy, the damn bursts. The one promise Eric made to himself, that he wouldn't fall for his client, is about to become a very easy promise to break.
I loved everything about this little story! Eric is this large and in charge semper fi ex marine that storms into Tyler's life and makes Tyler feel something he never thought he could feel, safe and comfortable. Tyler is a conundrum. Very strong and confident on the court but so childlike and insecure at heart. When you learn Tyler's story, what he went through growing up, it will break your heart.

    The Power of Truth...
As a fan of Andrew Grey's writing, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I've not heard one like it before and as with most of Grey's stories there is a happily ever after. But the journey to getting there is always a lesson to learn. Truth is a wondrous thing and can things into motion that brings forth growth and learning! Luca and Peter's come together with a past, each learning the truth and dealing with it and in that course find love with one another. A sweet story that causes the pitter patter of this hopeless romantic's heart to swoon with glee...a definite recommendation...As far as the narrator, Michael Ferraiuolo, I am not sure if I have heard him before, but he was excellent and brought life to the characters within the story. I'm looking forward to hearing more from him...
    Another Home Run!
Andrew has a way of captivating and harnessing your heartstrings and tugging them. Each story is a work of art,and this one is no exception.
Good story but kind of boring.....
the concept for this story is good but the execution is a bit on the boring side. I liked the love story and the resolve the characters have near the end but, the story just dragged along for me in between and I could barely finish.
I like the narrator, he did fine in this story, when things got emotional he really really made me feel like I was listening to a real person grieving.
I am sad to say I cannot recommend this book even though it does have a interesting premise, it was bogged down with way too much exposition and mediocre dialogue.
    Not bad
The story - like most of AGs stories - is not bad, but just not amazing either. There is no insane drama or highs and lows but just a steady story of two men falling in love and some issues that needs to be resolved. I do not know why AGs stories rarely moves me, but they dont and this is no exeption. If u are a fan, u will probably like the story, but the most i can say for it is that it isnt bad.
Andrew draws you into his created world
Written to entertain, while keeping you grounded in the world. Funny, sad, you'll love the new characters

Who would you become if you lost the only person who ever mattered?
For 26-year-old Dylan Hopkins, the answer is easy. He's become no one. Memories of the happier times are all he has left, as he finds himself meandering numbly through his now dull life. Though he cares about his work and family dearly, he has yet to let himself find love again. Afraid of letting go of what he once had, Dylan chooses to keep his heart buried, where it belongs, having died a long time ago.
Conner Michelson is about to change everything Dylan knows. He's every bit the bad boy persona - tatted up, ex-MMA fighter - but after an injury leaves him unable to fight, he has to rethink his goals. Having just opened his own gym, Conner can cross his first major life accomplishment off his very short list. Next up: find a man he can settle down with and build a family. Seems simple enough - a dream most people have - but when he meets Dylan, his carefree, easy-going life is thrown into a tailspin.
    Contains mature themes.

    Choices
This is a tale of Dylan and his journey to acceptance and love. Coming to grips about life and the effect of choices has never been told so eloquently. Other principle characters, Shane and Conner, each offer Dylan life experiences that shape his perspective. This book is well written and offers the reader a ride on an emotional rollercoaster that includes pain, shame, excitement, love, sorrow, regret, happiness, tears, sadness, and more love. I found this to be an enjoyable journey to learn and grow from...
Though the book is part of a series, this book is a stand-alone and I certainly recommend for MM enthusiasts.
    Enjoyable M/M romance in a M/F series
I really enjoyed this story. I read it as a stand alone because I have no interest in the earlier stories of the series. After seeing reviews for the other books I wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I did. And conversely readers who are just buying this as part of the series should note that unlike the other books this story is a romance between two men. The dual narration is good enough not to be distracting. The story contains both the tragedies of the main characters' past as well as how they grow past the them in the present. Overall I was surprised but pleased that this was a credit well spent.
    My new favorite book!
What did you love best about Let Love Live?
The dual narration. Having two different narrators voice these characters that are completely different mind sets, it was genius.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Let Love Live?
All of it! I really liked part 3 though, seeing the possibility of Connor and Dylan finding their happy ever after.
Have you listened to any of Sean Crisden and Marc Bachmann s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have, and I always enjoy their abilities to tell stories and capture an authors words with their voices.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was but it took me a few days. I will say, I was so enthralled with this story that I had my head phones in every moment I had the chance.
    Any additional comments?
Dylan Hopkins found love at an early age with his best friend Shane. But the path to happiness is far from paved for these two young lovers. Shane's father is verbally, emotionally and physically abusive and Shane carries those marks daily.

A Novel in the Long Pass Chronicles
Will Ashford lives in two closets. He meets his wealthy father's goals as both the quarterback for the famous SCU football team and a business major, but secretly he attends art school and longs to live as a painter. And he's gay. But if he can win the coveted Milton Scholarship for art, he'll be able to break from his father at the end of his senior year.
In a painting master class, Will meets his divergent opposite, Noah Zajack. A scarred orphan who's slept on park benches and eaten from trash cans, Noah carefully plans his life and multiple jobs so he has money and time to go to art school. Will's problems seem like nothing compared to Noah's. Noah wants the scholarship too and may have a way to get it, since the teacher of his class has designs on him--a plan about which Will isn't happy.
    Members Reviews:
    Not the best narrator
Will is in his last year of business school (to satisfy Daddy) playing the straight, star quarterback for SCU. What he really wants is to be a gay painter, but he cant afford to be honest with either his sexuality or his preferred profession. His goal is to win a scholarship for next year and be honest then.
Noah is an out and proud artist, working 3 jobs to pay tuition, hoping for the same scholarship Will is after because hes so broke hes having a hard time paying the bills. In the meantime hes having an affair with his teacher, who is also a judge for the scholarship.
So you can guess what happens. Will and Noah meet. They start a relationship. Noah and his professor end their relationship (this isnt taken well by the prof.). Will gets outed by the media. Noah loses the scholarship (sort of) due to sour grapes. Will and Noah make a go of it and with some razzle dazzle Noah ends up with a scholarship, Will ends up in art school and we get a really lovely HEA.
    **
Im a huge Tara Lain fan and this book just sort of underwhelmed me. It took several starts for me to finish, I just wasnt swept overboard by any of the elements. The attraction between Will and Noah wasnt spectacular. The storyline was predictable, which can be fine if there are other things to hook you in, but I just didnt feel any zing with this story.
I really liked the secondary characters, Jamal and his sister Ev, and am excited to read Jamals story in the next installment, however.
I thought the writing was excellent, it was edited well, and of course I loved the happy ending, but overall, I just wasnt wowed.
    Audio
John-Paul Barrel is a new narrator to me. I really appreciated that he tried to differentiate each person with a unique voice. Some of the voices were better than others. I didnt care much for his intonation and emotionality (acting) and didnt like his overall narrator voice much. For me, unfortunately, it detracted from the overall listening experience.

Good story, not a good narrator
I don't know what entails getting a narrator but I'm guessing it's not hearing them read something. He read the whole book with this dramatic voice. A bad acting dramatic voice. If you can get past that, it's a good story.
Great Story about being in the Closet
This was an awesome book. I really had a hard time putting this one down.

    Publisher's Summary:
Stanleys life took a left turn at a knitting shop and hit a dead end. The closest thing hes had to a relationship breaks things off to date a "nice boy," and none of the pretty young things in Boulders limited gay scene do it for Stanley. He needs to reevaluate whether working as a floor designer for a series of craft stores is really where he wants to be.
Then Stanley does a peculiar thing: he starts to live the life he fell into. Stitch by stitch, he knits his life into something meaningful. Just when he does, Johnny, the stores new delivery boy, walks in.
Johnny is like no one Stanley has ever met: he doesnt believe in quickies in the bathroom and has a soft spot for theater and opera. There has to be a catch. When Johnnys dark past comes back to haunt them, Stanley realizes how much he loves his cushy life in the yarn store - but hell give it all up to keep the man who makes his ordinary life extraordinary.

Philip Alces does a fantastic job
    Any additional comments?
Philip Alces does a fantastic job with the narration. Between his character voices and overall performance it's a real treat to listen to him with this series so far, and this installment is no different. I loved his Stanley!
Alces brilliantly conveys Stanley's snarky, bitchy, vulnerability. I loved Stanley as a character, his humor is right up my alley. I cracked up so many times at the things he thought and what flew out of his mouth. When Stanley, who is tired at 35 of the club life, decides to give both knitting and being a "nice boy" a shot, the results, and snarkiness, is hysterical. When Johnny, who we met at the end of How to Raise an Honest Rabbit, makes a delivery to Stanley's yarn store it's instant love at first sight for both of them.
I'll admit I had to suspend my disbelief more than once in this one, with the insta-love, the confession of Johnny's past to Stanley and the others, the mob finding Johnny and Stanley, Stanley's flight, and finally Jeremy's stand.
But I let all of that go, because ultimately the writing is fun, flows brilliantly and Amy Lane knows how to tear out my heart and piece it back together like a patchwork quilt, somehow making it stronger than when I started.
As far as characters in this series go, I loved Craw and Ben, then Aiden and Jeremy, and now Stanley and Johnny. They are so real to me, I just want to wrap them up in a thick quilt an insulate them from further harm. It makes me sad that I've lost the happy fluffiness of the first book, I mean, a little darkness crept in for How to Raise an Honest Rabbit, but A Knitter in His Natural Habitat took a full turn to the oh my god! dark side. It makes me wary and worried about what will befall my boys in the final installment. Though I know, in my heart, Amy Lane will not let me down and will, eventually, give me a happy ending.
    Recommended!
    Philip Alces at his best!
Depending on your ordering system this is either book 3 or 4 of the knitters series. This is one of the more intense books in the series. Stanley is an aging bottom boy and Johnny is in the Witness Protection Program after ratting out the mob.

    Narration is great
    Any additional comments?
    3 Stars (Story = 2 Stars; Narration = 4 Stars)
I would have actually rated this much higher if it weren't for two things: gross stupidity and the ending. Would you like to hear of this stupidity? Well, then, kiddies, gather up close for I have another story to tell you...
Our story actually begins really well. Alex Taylor is a "Protector" guardian, able to shift into dog form. Alex is super special for a great many reasons, some of which are that he first presented as a guardian at eight years old (well before other children present), he bonded with his "Handler", Theo, earlier than usual as well, but the most special thing about Alex is when his Handler (and Husband) Theo is murdered, Alex doesn't die with him.
You see Handlers and Protectors usually bond sometime in their late teens, but no later than early twenties, and a kind of empathic telepathy develops. There is also a biological and neurological need for daily physical contact (doesn't have to be sex) so the pair bond is strengthened and if a Handler dies their Protector dies as well - though if a Protector dies the Handler may survive.
I enjoyed the world building. It's actually quite interesting most of the time.
After Alex survives the death of his Handler everyone waits for him to die. Thing is, he doesn't. So over the next three years while Alex mourns Theo he's tested regularly to give the scientists some idea as to why he survived. On one of the testing weekends Alex notices the scent trail of another Handler, Marcus Stephanek, and realizes this means he's going to bond with another. This is not joyous news. Alex is gutted by this.
Marcus is ecstatic at having finally found his bond-mate, being that he is twenty-six, well past the age Handlers normally find a Protector to bond with. He's happy until Alex makes it clear that he's not a welcome bond, that Alex doesn't want Marcus.
It's difficult because the pair is now bonded, no matter that neither is happy about it, and Alex is determined to shut Marcus out.
That's how the story goes for a good three-quarters...with us drowning along with Alex in the grief of having lost his husband, of having this interloper in their home, and struggling against the bond, and we are additionally grieving with Marcus over being bonded to a shell of a Protector after wanting nothing more in his life that to find his other half.
All of this was really well-written and flows well.

Excellent romance for anyone who has had a teenage crush.
A wonderful story that speaks to anyone who had had a crush as a teenager. It even lets people who never got to kiss another boy at 13 to see an alternate way first crushes could have turned out. A very sweet story of the emotions of being gay or queer and the feelings of being a teenage boy playing jokes and just goofing around with others not all of whom are even gay or questioning.
    Cute! Current!
I'm so glad Mark is an author. Thank you Mark for mentioning Mercedes Lackey's book. I've read her whole Valdemar series, she's an incredible author as are you!

Love this vampire tale! Especially the combination of royalty, detective, flamboyant-like best friend, loyal sisters and modern day setting.
    Highly recommend the series.
    Empowering
Relationships are tricky, I loved the play of words between the main characters. I can't wait for book two. Thanks
    Just a teaser
Do u know the feeling you got when you went to se "lord of the rings: the fellowship of the ring" and was left with the feeling - that is not a movie -only the intro! Well this is kind of like that - promising story but Nothing gets resolved and it ends very abruptly - it actually was so abrupt that it was several seconds before i could comprehend "i hope u have enjoyed this audiobook" wasnt a part of the story. The narrator kind of says it without pausing first to signal the end. Other than that he is a good narrator exept (i dont know if its him or the authors) a couple of times where he says the name of the wrong MC in a couple of places. If i had to start over i would definitely wait for the rest of the story before i started listening. But i would absolutely buy it, because it has the potential of becoming a very interesting series.
    Not what was expected
    Any additional comments?
I listened to the whole book, but man, I couldn't do it again. There wasn't enough interest to look for the second book, much less keep it in my library,
So if you like a short story, with a plain narrative, and a hot vampire more power to you
Great vampire story and wonderful romance
I think this is an underappreciated series/audiobook that deserves some more attention. I read/listened to this originally last year and re-listened this year because its just so good!
This is a GFY/OFY with the very staid and stoic cop, John Reeder, finding himself inexplicably drawn to the enigmatic Vincent. Not only is Vincent potentially involved in the crime John is investigating, hes a guy! Hes also got strange friends and is clearly hiding a lot of secrets ie hes a vampire! So we get John trying to deny himself his attraction to Vincent on at least three fronts. Johns family is very conservative as well, save for his sister, and he worries about their response to his newfound sexuality.
As if that werent enough, Vincents family is not welcoming at all and brining a human home is a no-no.
I really loved the emotion in this story. The mystery does monopolize this first book, but the emotions between John and Vincent are building and its a slow burn to an intense passion that gets set up for book two. So while book two remains my favorite of the pair, book one is no slouch. The writing is excellent, the character development superb and the physical tension intense.

    Sweet holiday story
This is a short holiday story about love and forgiveness. Will hasnt been home since the Christmas when he came out to his family. There is a mystery as to why hes stayed away, but you can guess why. When Wills family extends an olive branch, he decides to try again but is mystified by the boarder they are sharing their house with.
Ryan is a young gay man who was kicked out of his home by his religious family and is now being supported by Wills family.
At first Will is jealous and guarded with the virginal Ryan, but as the eggnog gets drunk and the inhibitions loosened the two find they might have a bit more in common than they think.

Since this is a short story, a lot happens in a time line that feels unrealistic to me, but is acceptable given the parameters of a holiday love story.
I didnt really feel Will ever had a reason to love Ryan or vice versa, though I was certainly rooting for the relationship.
I thought the physical stuff and the I love yous were rushed but sweet nonetheless.
    Audiobook:
I thought Robbie did a nice job with the narration, this was his first narration Id heard and I would definitely look for him in the future. He didnt do a lot with the voices but he certainly seemed to understand and translate the story well.
Overall I give the book a 3 of 5 hearts and the Audiobook a 4 of 5 hearts for a total of 3.5 hearts.
    The Healing Power of Eggnog
    This book has it all!
When I first came a cross the title, my first thoughts were one what a funny name for a Christmas story cause we all know that eggnog is a powerful drink if NOT controlled properly and two this won't end well
After listening to this hart warming Christmas story I had a lot of empathy towards the two main characters
    Dick the hall's
What made the experience of listening to The Healing Power of Eggnog the most enjoyable?
The fact that the sex was not the main point of the story, it was the relationship with the child and parents and the understanding or better yet lack there of, on what made will who he is.
What did you like best about this story?
The egg nog and how it was almost made into a magical potion.
What about Robbie Ravenas performance did you like?
how well he made the voice's different
If you could take any character from The Healing Power of Eggnog out to dinner, who would it be and why?
will, I think he would be so kool, to talk to and to get into the head of a writer would be neat

It's only three days 'til Christmas. Jeremy Porter is still grieving over his mother's death, and Paul McClellan is a lonely divorcee just trying to make it home even though the only one waiting for him is his cat. It may seem like a miserable combination, but when Jeremy saves Paul from being hit by a car during a nasty snowstorm, their connection and chemistry are undeniable. It's easy to cuddle up with a stranger when you're snowed in but can a holiday affair turn into more if being together feels like home?

    Another sweet holiday short story
Jeremy is sad this Christmas because its his first without his mother, who was a friend too. He ends up helping Paul by saving him from being run over, then gives him shelter during the storm. They end up celebrating a pre-Christmas and making good use of the time by learning about each other both emotionally and physically.
They discover they have a pretty intense connection and when the snow clears they decide to make a go of a relationship, even though it might take some extra work.

I enjoyed the emotion and the chemistry in this story and felt that, by the end, the couple had a good chance of making it go. Since it is a short-story, we didnt get a lot of time to get to know them, but what we did see looks promising.
Michael Stellman did a nice job with the narration, letting the story tell itself with a style that is easy to listen to.
Short, sweet story for the season

    Any additional comments?
Jeremy Porter is on his way home just a few days before Christmas when a sexy stranger catches his eye. Paul McClellan is stranded with a flat tire just outside Jeremys apartment when a would be hit and run driver comes dangerously close to ruining Pauls Christmas. After pulling Paul to safety, Jeremy invites him up to his apartment to warm up and wait out the snow before they can safely change the tire.
There is a connection between them that cannot be denied and almost as soon as they are inside and in wrapped up in warm clothes, they are out of them and wrapped up in each other. They spend the next two days wrapped in a world wind romance getting to know more about each other. They are both single but Jeremy is still mourning the loss of his mother and his ex-boyfriend while Paul has been divorced for close to six years, but his ex-wife can still make him feel like a petulant child.
Jeremy is amazed at how quickly he acclimates to having Paul around, thinking being with Paul feels like home, feels natural. And yet, he wont tell Paul, or ask him to stay. When the storm clears and they replace Pauls tire, will he go? Or will he stay and make a home with Jeremy.
This was a cute story about finding the one in the oddest of ways. My only complaint would be I wanted the author to decide between adult and YA. Words used were definitely descriptive, but then it was more of a fade to black than actual details of what these guys were doing. I would have rather had one, or the other, instead of teetering between the two.
