    Publisher's Summary:
The village of Stamford, the quintessential chocolate-box English scene, seemed an impossible dream for foster kid Toby Prentiss. Now he's found a home among the haystacks and village fairs as the general manager for the Duck and Drake Hotel. With the fears and demons from his youth hidden away in this bucolic oasis, he's very protective of who he lets in. Until he stumbles across shirtless carpenter Rain Engel building the hotel's new custom-designed bar.
Working in the countryside, Rain prepared to face his biggest fear: sheep. He didn't expect to deal with his second biggest fear: commitment. Toby's controlled tough-guy façade coupled with his "find happiness where you can" optimism calls to Rain like nothing before. While Rain may be an exhibitionist, his romantic history forces him to hold his emotions close. As their relationship develops, secrets from their pasts drive a wedge between them: the ex-boyfriend who tore apart Rain's trust and Toby's history with the law. But can the secrets hiding among the quirky villagers bring them together? With missing sheep, pole dancing at the winter festival, and a crippling drought, everyone is waiting for Rain.

WARNING: This is an entirely subjective review.
While I will not, and rightly cannot, deny Matthew Lloyd Davies delivers a good narration performance, I absolutely loathed the voices he used for the main characters. I thought he made Toby sound like a 50+ year old poncy twat, and Rain, who was supposed to be South African, at times, to me, sounded way more Germanic or Italian than South African. So it kind of ruined the whole thing for me. That being said, the rest of his narration was quite good. Timing, inflection, performance all fine.
Told in alternating first-person POVs, we are introduced to Toby when he boots his boyfriend to the curb after the dickhead hits him. I literally cheered at this scene. It was so refreshing to see someone defend himself the way Toby does.
Some months later, Toby meets Rain when Rain and his partner, Lucas, come to the Duck and Drake Hotel (where Toby is the General Manager) to build a custom pub. After a rocky start, Toby and Rain begin seeing each other (read: blowing and jacking each other in the garden shed). While the physical part of their relationship is immediate and WHITE HOT, the emotional side is a bit of a slow burn. Both men have secrets and things they are hiding from each other, which take some time to come to light.
This story is chockablock full of sex, in every way, shape and form. Its also chock full of a bunch of bloated side plots involving homophobic assholes, weird sheep phobias, sheepnapping, humor, pole dancing, TSTL moments, more humor, and more sex. It was a glut of extra everything, which admittedly served at times to move along the relationship between Toby and Rain, but got old. Fast. Honestly, with as much as I was hating the narration by the time it was only halfway through I was wishing it was over. Surprisingly though, it wasnt the narration, but the story itself that managed to trip my rage switch at around 54%.
    Spoilers removed
Aside from that though, its a funny, quirky, bit-long-winded, romance with a lot of sex. I think I might have liked it more had I been reading rather than listening. Maybe not, given the things I was ragey about though.
    Yes!
    I loved this book.

    A True Mates novel
Nicholas Cartwright has done everything in his power to forget that night six months ago in Senaka when his true mate rejected him, leaving him shattered and disillusioned. Burying himself in his work, he pushes himself to the point of exhaustion while finding the touch of another unbearable. Suddenly his mate needs his help, and he may be asking for more than Nicholas can find it in himself to give.
Thayne Whitedove has always been a wanderer, spending his days on the road and his nights wrapped in the arms of whatever random hookup he meets, until a fateful mistake sends him rushing for the comforts of home. To his utter dismay, the only way to correct his error in judgment is to accept the one thing he's never wanted: his mate. Thayne must decide whether to keep running or to stay and fight for Nick's forgiveness.
    Members Reviews:
    Forgive me, but....
I really tried to like this, but I failed. Thayne and Nick were too broody and whiny for me. I hated that Nick was portrayed as weak willed and needy and hate that Thayne was too pigheaded to call his best friend and discuss something that they agreed to as youths and selfish to boot. This premise annoyed me. The same points seemed to be reiterated over and over. The story could have probably been wrapped up in half the time. The concept of ' the Created' was interesting, but not used in the best way. The narrator was okay but couldn't save it.
4 stars for the story 5 stars for the narration.
Where does Forgiving Thayne rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It was quite good, I'd listen to it again.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Loved the ending, more so than the book version I think.
Which character as performed by Derrick McClain was your favorite?
The Chapter where they have to face the created one.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    Nope.

    e-book review Nov 2013
Thayne Whitedove is a loner, he doesnt rely on anyone but himself and pushes away anyone that threatens to get close. When he was a boy, he and his best friend and fellow shifter Dakota, found Dakotas father dead by a self inflicted gunshot wound after the mans mate had die. Thayne and Dakota swore an oath that day to never succumb to the mate bond, to never let themselves be that vulnerable because of their love and loyalty to another. So Thayne has spent his entire adult life hopping from one bed to another in a quest to quench the thirst the loneliness leaves in its wake. Hes brash, standoffish and contemptuous at best with just about everyone.
When Nicholas Cartwright steam rolled his way into Thaynes life all those months ago, Thayne rejected him, rejected their bond and did what he does best, he ran. When Thaynes past and poor choices come back to haunt him, he has no choice but to accept help from the one person he hurt more than anyone, Nick.
Nick is everything that Thayne is not, everything about them is a contrast of colors and personalities. Thayne is big and broad with long, dark hair and equally dark eyes that match his almost black personality. Nick is lithe and lean with dark blonde hair and mesmerizing green eyes. Hes smart, successful and committed to everyone in his life. He was the protector of his best friend Seth, Thaynes brother Kaseys husband, for many years.

    Any additional comments?
The more audibles Michael Stellman narrates, the more I fall in love with his voice. His voice is especially wonderful for stories like this one. Turkish wasn't a likable character at first but he slowly won me over the same way he won James over.
Of course there was a bit too much sex for me, but Mr. Stellman's voice has matured so beautifully, It was impossible not to be enraptured in every part of this story.
I loved how Turkish true personality presented itself with his patience for James and really enjoyed the two of them getting to know each other and falling in love. And for once, a story is written where the best friend's are not obnoxious and annoying, I honestly liked the best friend's, they were all pretty cool! This was a sweet story and Mr. Stellman's voice truly brought it to life for me.
    Ok
I liked the premise of this one, for me it dragged, and was a bit slow. The narrator did a nice job. For me the MC James's character a bit on my nerves. He was just to crotchety and whiny, so much so it detracted from the story.

Looking for love in unexpected places
What did you love best about The Giddy Death of the Gays & the Strange Demise of Straights?
It's very well written, of course. It's a great look into the changing faces of love and sexuality and how one doesn't always correlate with the other. They also give a wonderful look into the edges at least of polyamoury and how it affects not only the lives of the people involved in the relationship, but the relationships around them.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Giddy Death of the Gays & the Strange Demise of Straights?
While the actual "linear" story is quite good, there are several flash forwards as well which, while they may spoil a bit of the story, they're very effective and brought me to tears.
What about Fiona Thrailles performance did you like?
Excellent job! Her accent put you right in the midst of Swansea, and definitely makes you feel like you're there. She also never leaves any doubt about who is speaking, differentiating the characters effortlessly.
    Any additional comments?
Phenomenal account of the changing face of relationships in the 21st century. Brought me to tears several times (which isn't good when you're listening while driving!). If you're not used to gender-neutral pronouns, it can be a bit distracting at first while you try to parse them, but trust me, they're there for a very good reason. Well done!
Perpetually In Search of a Book This Wonderful
I loved this book inimitably. Sweet and funny, complicated but clear, and narrated by one of my favorites.
If I had to describe this story in one word I think it would be "unafraid". Unafraid to delve into the the spectrum of inner experiences and interactions of the characters, getting deep into the heart of sexuality, polyamory, identity and expression, while never losing sight of the inextricable ways the characters were affected by cultural pressures as current events shaped the world around them.
At the same time it filled me with joy and connection, heartbreak and hope.
    It was a wonderful.
    Gay? Straight? What now??
Surprisingly enough I enjoyed this book a lot. I listened to it on a sunny day in the Peak District (no, not in South Wales) and I had a few laugh-out-loud moments. First I thought it might be one of those 'gay' books but it's not actually. The book is about this random bunch of gay and straight people, and one who can't decide. It's about friendship, love, social acceptance of homosexuality and everyday life in South Wales.

There's no leverage like seduction...until love takes a bite of his plans.
As the Indiana Jones of historical erotica, there is no document existing - or just rumored to exist - Adin Tredeger can't unearth. Why he would risk the biggest coup of his career to join the mile-high club is beyond him. But the disarming, dark-eyed man who somehow enters Adin's locked airplane washroom has him completely nude and coming apart. All without a whimper of protest.
From that moment Adin and Donte Fedelta engage in an international battle of wit and cunning. The prize - a priceless, 500-year-old journal with illustrations so erotic it could make the Marquis de Sade blush. Yet Donte's desire for the journal goes far beyond simple possession. The undead nobleman wrote it. And he's not above using every trick in his otherworldly arsenal - including seduction - to get it back.
Chemistry draws them together even as fortune tugs them apart. But when a third party joins the chase, they must unite to fight an enemy with a deadly goal - to erase Donte from history.
This audiobook is a rerelease of a previously published book, with substantial rewrites. This title was originally released as Notturno.
Warning: This product contains one cocky college professor, one centuries-old vampire who is out to show him who's at the top of the food chain, and red wine. Because it goes so well with humble pie.

    4.5 stars
I read the ebook several months before the audio version was released. It was 3.5 story for me, which I upped to 4 stars in my review. Upon experiencing it on audio, I'm upping the rating to 4.5 stars for a perfect narration that truly brought the story to life. I still appreciated the nicely developed characters and colorful secondary characters, that it was very well written and edited, and was dark without being morose. The long journal passages from Notturno that nearly bored me to death in the book took on a wholly different light when read aloud in a decent Italian accent. They were so beautiful presented this way and changed my perception of Donte.
    More enjoyable in audio format!
    Well I loved it!!
It was an easy listen good drama action a great start to the series I hope all the books will be in audio...
Narration was good really enjoyed, as this is first time I have heard from this narrator I was a bit iffy in buying but have to say I really was happy with the work he did.
I'm not sure what the other reviews were about, yes it wasn't the best story for this author but what do you expect for vampire story they are all corny when it comes down to the HEA, I would listen or read again I think it's just the beginning for these characters and there is so much more to tell..
Awesome work please put the rest of this series in audio as you can't have the teaser at the end of this and not finish..
    Worth the $$$
    Good, not Great!
This was a good m/m vampire story... not great... not even a repeat listen. There was a fair amount of action, but the romance was... well lets just say boring... Even the bad guy turned out to be a decent guys... so eh... IDK... maybe a credit... not a sale or even a buy...
    Narration was ok...

    Members Reviews:
    Very well written and narrated.
As a vet of Iraq this story was well written. The author knew all the nuances of American military life and did a great job of brining it to the listener.
    Nice slow burn
I really enjoyed this military hurt/comfort read. Ms Leigh is a really talented writer and this is a really good story. Be warned it has some horrific war scenes and a lot of flashbacks. Sometimes it made it hard to tell whether something was a flashback or present day. But not too bad. It only lost a star because it was REALLY slow for me and a lot of men not expressing their feelings to each other, just in their heads. I'm not a fan of that; I like feelings being expressed verbally to the person you are suppose to love. But if are a fan of the slow burn, you will really like it. The narrator does a great job and has a little more diversity in his voices than other books I've listened to by him. All in all worth a credit.
    Enjoyable...
Enjoyed this story and the writing techniques of Garrett Leigh. The narrator did a great job bringing this story to life. The angst in the story is profound and the reader sympathizes with the characters but perhaps there was too much inner turmoil. Maybe not. I guess it depends on everyone's preferences...for me, just a bit long in certain points in the book...but it didn't deter me from enjoying the story. (Listened 5/14/15)
Who am I, if not a soldier?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would. Leigh is an amazing writer that has this uncanny ability to write damaged and broken characters, sometimes the dregs of society, and give them their own kind of happy ever after. In addition to that Stellman is a truly talented narrator that did an amazing job bringing these two broken men to life.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I'd have to say Jed. I thought the way he was written and portrayed was very convincing.
Which character as performed by Michael Stellman was your favorite?
    Again, Jed.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Several actually. I think my favorite moments were the times when Jed and Max helped each other through something painful. The way, at different times, each of them were a shoulder for the other when nothing or no one else could help.
    Any additional comments?
As I stated above, Leigh has this knack for writing characters that are flawed, broken, imperfect and sometimes even seemingly a lost cause.

I'm so glad this is a duo & I could instantly start book 2! As I've come to expect, Aria Grace spins a story of young love & heartbreak that leaves you wanting to soothe as well as yell at her characters. They are all too human & fallible, easily relatable. New love is full of pitfalls, bruised hearts & hot steamy nights. When a smoking hot ex is combined with the uncertainty of a first time same sex relationship, disaster strikes.

    Don't bother with this one
What would have made Cherish & Blessed better?
Above all this book needed a plot and something for the reader to care about. It seems even the author couldn't manage to raise an interest in it.
The 'story' in this book is almost non-existent. It's more a series of scenes in which couples have (formulaic, unconvincing) sex and tell each other how much they love them. Oh, and of course, being gay men, they spend the few minutes a day when they are not have sex and telling their partners they love them, thinking about children and marriage. This is definitely a book written for and by women.
There is a poor attempt at creating some tension with a miscommunication between one couple and the behaviour of one of the children. But I found it unmoving and uninteresting, probably because it was so as realistic as a Dynasty bitch fight.
Would you ever listen to anything by Tere Michaels again?
I would give the author another try because I have enjoyed the previous books in the series, but I will be much more cautious and read any reviews carefully first.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
This narrator is terrible. He seems to be getting a lot of work in this genre, which is very unfortunate. He has two traits which are a constant distraction. The first is that he reads English in a way that suggests that it is not his first language. Not accented, but the emphasis is very often on the wrong word in a sentence. Worse is the way that no matter what the subject matter or character, he reads in a voice of high emotion, his voice cracking as if on the edge of tears. It is almost always inappropriate and very distracting. There is also no distinction between the voices of different characters, which often makes it hard to distinguish which character is speaking (not that it matters in this case as they all say the same things for the most part).
    You didnt love this book...

There were some truly tender moment in this story and I truly did love Sandy and Evan together. There was just something missing, something... I don't know. This had the potential to be a beautiful love story.
The narrator was decent and I appreciated that he did sound around the age of the main characters who were 35 and 40. His voice was smooth and easy to listen too.

How was he to know that Zack, a full grown man who has come to be his father's farm hand, will give him a passionate night he will remember for a lifetime; a night that will set his world on fire and call him to question everything he thinks about for his future?
In this fourth book in Jamie Lake's Just a Quickie gay romance M/M series, indulge in the ultimate steamy fantasy of an Alpha male and the beta he wants to dominate.

    Do Me Tonight
This was my first audible book and I enjoyed it. What a great book to start with.
We read it together it was nicer with me reading it.
Great book great story. I wonder how Zack handle their son leaving with his
    parents?
    that ending though....
ok I wasn't expecting much from this story and it was ok, the narrator was not the best. the story is short and pretty much to the point, then the end happened and I was like.....WHAT!? I don't know if I'd be spoiling anything but * SPOILER ALERT!!!*
how in the world is the farm hand just going to run away with this young man and the story just end with him saying "oh don't worry about your parents I'll take care of it." WHAT!?
    Fast and fun!
This was a quick fun listen. If you are looking for something believable this is probably not for you but to me being believable wasn't the point. Its a good, fast, sexy audio book for mm lovers.
    Good.
I enjoyed this short piece of M/M erotica. The story was good and so was the narration.
